Disaster Preparedness and Resiliency as Predictors among Residents Situated in Landslide-Prone Areas in Brgy. Matina Crossing
This research aims to determine the inter-relationship among the profile, disaster preparedness, and resiliency of the residents in Barangay 74-A Matina Crossing and what demographic profile significantly predicts resiliency as well as the disaster preparedness of the residents. It explores whether resiliency significantly predicts disaster preparedness among the identified residents. A survey was conducted on a convenience sample of 400 residents situated in a landslide-prone area in Barangay 74-A Matina Crossing using a 3-part structured questionnaire; the Demographic Profile of the residents, the Disaster Preparedness Index, and the Resiliency Scale. When grouped according to sex, it shows that 200 (50.0%) were males and 200 (50.0%) were females. The age groups have a total of 247 respondents (61.8%) with ages between 18-25 years old; 90 respondents (2.5%) with ages between 36-39 years old; and 63 respondents (15.8%) with ages between 50-60 years old. The overall mean of the level of disaster preparedness is 2.66 with a standard deviation of 0.30, indicating that the disaster preparedness of respondents is well-prepared. The respondents obtained the descriptive interpretation of true nearly all the time mean ratings on meaningfulness/Purpose, and the other six variables: Self-Efficacy, Hardiness, Adaptability/Flexibility, Regulation of Emotion and Cognition, and Coping, had often true mean ratings. Findings highlight the significant associations of demographic profiles, disaster preparedness, and resiliency, while regression results show that the demographic profile did not significantly predict the resiliency of the residents. However, only adaptability/flexibility significantly predicts the disaster preparedness of the identified residents
Safety Knows No Pause: Identifying the Relationship Between Disaster Literacy and Public Health Nurses’ Disaster Response Performance
This descriptive quantitative study aimed to identify the relationship between disaster literacy and the disaster response performance of public health nurses in various health institutions in Davao City. The research utilized a self-designed questionnaire survey, with participants providing details on their sex and years of experience. The survey comprised 10 questions assessing disaster literacy and 7 questions evaluating disaster response performance. Statistical analyses including Mann-Whitney U and Spearman were employed. Results showed a mean disaster literacy level of 3.91, categorized as high. However, no statistically significant relationship was found between disaster literacy and nurses\u27 disaster response performance, regardless of sex and years of experience. Although a slight correlation of 0.135 between disaster literacy and performance was observed, it was not statistically significant (p=0.100), as indicated by the scatter plot analysis. Based on the findings of this study, researchers have devised disaster strategies. These strategies aim to equip all public health nurses to effectively respond to disasters, regardless of sex, experience, or prior knowledge. It involves creating a standardized disaster preparedness and response plan, conducting regular drills covering various scenarios, implementing ongoing education courses, and assigning roles based on skills rather than sex or experience, with clear documentation of responsibilities
Development of Flexible Learning Instruction Through Progressive, Personalized, Engaging and Diversified (FLIPPED) Video Media in Mathematics
Video media offers a novel way of learning. With its flexible learning features, such as options for review and accessibility anywhere, in-dividual learning needs are better met. This is advantageous when employed in a flipped learning setup for mathematics instruction, where learners need a significant amount of time to master a lesson. This developmental research design sought to develop flexible learning of instruction through progressive, personalized, engaging, and diversified (FLIPPED) video media as instructional materials for the least learned competencies in Grade 5 Mathematics, focusing on its application within a flipped classroom paradigm. The study em-ployed a competency-based assessment tool (CBAT) in Mathematics and a researcher-made evaluation form for the acceptability of the developed video media as its primary instrument. Findings highlight specific areas of challenges in Mathematics 5, such as formulating rules for sequence progression, visualizing fraction multiplication, estimating decimal products, identifying base, rate, and percentage, and finding the circumference of a circle. Utilizing the IPO model, the video media was meticulously developed to offer flexible learning that can improve mathematics achievement. The video media was rated as “highly acceptable” in terms of its flexible learning, progres-sive instruction, personalized instruction, learners’ engagement, and diversified instruction. The research findings conclude the efficacy of FLIPPED Video Media in addressing learning gaps and fostering a conducive learning environment that caters to diverse learning needs. The developed video media represents a paradigm shift in education, showcasing the transformative power of technology to enhance teaching and learning outcomes

Evaluating the Digital Transformation of Lottery Operation: A Case Study on the E-Lotto Applications Impact on the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office in Metro Manila
The introduction of digital platforms has reshaped consumer behavior in various industries, and the lottery sector is no exception. While traditional lottery sales have long been a primary revenue source for PCSO, the advent of E-Lotto provides a new, convenient avenue for lottery. This research aims to evaluate the impact of E-Lotto on the sales performance of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) within the National Capital Region (NCR). Further, this study determines whether E-Lotto serves as a complementary or competing channel for traditional lottery ticket sales and explores the implications of this shift on PCSO’s overall sales strategy.
Through a mixed-methods approach, quantitative data on NCR lottery sales were analyzed to identify trends and assess shifts between digital and physical lottery channels. Qualitative interviews with PCSO stakeholders provide additional insights into operational and marketing strategies surrounding E-Lotto implementation. Findings reveal that E-Lotto expanded PCSO’s reach, particularly among younger, urban-based customers who prefer the convenience of online platforms. However, there is evidence that E-Lotto may also cannibalize traditional sales, especially in areas with smartphones and internet penetration.
This underscores the need for PCSO to balance digital and physical sales channels effectively to maximize revenue. Recommendations include targeted marketing efforts, enhancing the user experience, and integrating cross-promotions between traditional and E-Lotto channels. By addressing these factors, PCSO can leverage the benefits of E-Lotto without undermining its established sales network. This study’s insights contribute to the broader understanding of digital transformation in gaming public institutions and its implications for sustainable revenue growth.
