Exploring The Role of Emotional Triggers and Advertising Authenticity on Purchase Intention Through Short Video Marketing in Indonesia

    No full text
This study aims to explore how advertising authenticity and emotional triggers influence consumer purchase intention through emotional engagement in the context of short-form video advertising in Indonesia. To achieve this objective, this study uses a quantitative approach with a survey design. Respondents consisted of active TikTok and Instagram Reels users in Indonesia who, in the past three months, have watched or interacted with short-form video advertisements. Data collection was conducted online using a structured questionnaire, then analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique. The results showed that advertising authenticity and message relevance significantly increased emotional arousal and nostalgia. Both affective responses were shown to drive emotional engagement, leading to increased purchase intentions. Emotional arousal was identified as the strongest predictor of engagement and impulsive decisions. This study extends the Cognitive–Affective–Conative (CAC) model to short video marketing and highlights nostalgia as a culturally relevant emotion in Indonesia. Despite these findings, the study\u27s cross-sectional design limits causal interpretation; future studies should adopt longitudinal approaches. Brands are advised to focus on authentic storytelling and emotionally charged narratives within brief short video formats

    No full text
This study explores the lived experiences of Filipino seafarers in fulfilling their obligation to provide family support. This study specifically focuses on providing financial support for sustaining essential needs. Guided by Ajzen’s Theory of Planned Behavior (1991), the study explores how the attitude, family expectations, and perceived behavioral control is affected in their ability to fulfill support obligations. Using phenomenological qualitative method, data were gathered from seafarers to capture their perspectives of family support, the expectations placed upon them, and the challenges they encountered during periods at sea and on vacation. The findings reveal that misalignments among the three theoretical components may lead to financial disconnect, influencing family dynamics. The study highlights implications for understanding the pressures faced by seafarers and the need for broader support mechanisms to strengthen family well-being

Mainstreaming Low-Cost Hydroponics Using Fermented Plant Juice for Sustainable Lettuce Production in Urban Farming

    No full text
This study investigated the viability of a low-cost hydroponic system for food security in the Zamboanga Peninsula, employing a mixed-methods approach. The research assessed the acceptability, growth performance, and economic feasibility of hydroponic lettuce production using locally sourced organic inputs, specifically Fermented Plant Juice (FPJ). Hydroponics is seen as beneficial for addressing space limitations and improving food security in the region, though adoption is hindered by limited technical knowledge, material access, and capital. Estrosa and Olmetie lettuce varieties showed optimal performance.  Nitrate levels in Estrosa and Green Wave were undetectable, and while Olmetie and Invicta absorbed more nitrate with FPJ, all levels remained within international safety limits. Cadmium was not detected. Recommendations for the Zamboanga Peninsula include agricultural modernization through technical training, start-up assistance, material accessibility, and R&D support. Public awareness campaigns for low-cost hydroponics using FPJ, crop diversification, farmer engagement, and urban/peri-urban adoption incentives are also suggested. Growers are advised to prioritize Estrosa and Green Wave for lower nitrate uptake and ensure correct FPJ preparation

Examining Transparency and Efficiency in Local Government Unit Disbursement Using Publicly Available Data from Cebu Province, Philippines

    No full text
This study examines the relationship between fiscal transparency and disbursement efficiency in a local government unit (LGU) in Cebu, Philippines, using publicly available 2024 fiscal data. Transparency is defined as the percentage of actual quarterly disbursement relative to the expected amount—25% of the annual budget per quarter—while efficiency measures the proportion of funds utilized. Both variables are derived from disbursement percentages, contributing to the strong positive correlation and unusually high regression coefficients observed. Linear regression analyses across four quarters reveal a consistent, statistically significant positive relationship between transparency and efficiency. Unstandardized coefficients (B) rise from 0.25 in Quarter 1 to 0.57 in Quarter 4, with Quarter 4 showing the highest standardized beta (β = 10.19, R² = 0.985). These results indicate that transparency increasingly influences efficiency as fiscal pressures mount toward year-end. The findings affirm transparency as a critical governance tool that aligns planned and actual disbursements to improve budget execution. Practically, enhanced transparency fosters accountability, strengthens fiscal discipline, and supports evidence-based resource allocation, which are vital for effective LGU policy and responsive public service delivery. However, the close operational linkage between transparency and efficiency warrants cautious interpretation of coefficient magnitudes. The study recommends performance-informed budgeting, improved monitoring, and inter-agency coordination to balance transparency with execution flexibility, optimizing resource use and governance outcomes in decentralized fiscal systems
