This study aimed to identify the areas where proficient teachers struggle the most and the areas where they feel confident regarding influence in decision-making, instructional, disciplinary, parental involvement, community involvement, and a positive school climate. A mixed-method of sequential explanatory design was utilized, involving 70 secondary high school teachers in the Cluster I Schools Division of Pampanga. The study’s findings demonstrated that teachers are more comfortable and feel more competent and confident in areas like instruction and a positive school climate, where they have more direct control over the conduct and learning of their students. On the other hand, the respondents seemed to be reasonably confident in their ability to influence decisions made within the educational institution. This could be due to several factors, including their experience, relationships with other staff members, or participation in committees that make decisions for the organization. The study highlighted the importance of maintaining collaboration and support among educators, administrators, and the entire school community to foster an environment that values ongoing learning and effective teaching strategies. Lastly, this study emphasized how important teacher self-efficacy is in determining effective teaching practices, especially for experienced teachers. It also emphasized the importance of recognizing and providing targeted support for teachers\u27 strengths to build their confidence and ultimately improve student achievement. The research suggests that schools should give priority to programs that increase teacher self-efficacy through mentorship programs, targeted professional development, and building a supportive school culture. These efforts will ultimately increase instructional effectiveness and improve the teachers’ overall confidence in teaching. &nbsp

Male enrollees have consistently formed around 70% to 72%, on the one hand, female enrollees covered approximately 28% to 30% over the years. The research outcomes implied that gender differences remain significant, and addressing this issue is necessary. If male dominance continues in this field, significant development will not occur. Diversifying the approach to involve more women in the program is crucial to achieving greatness and fostering advancement and development in this field of study

Philippines’ Fluidity of Innovation from 2001 to 2021: Interpretations and Implications

    Get PDF
While innovation is generally accepted as one of the drivers of economic growth, most innovation metrics are qualitative and have a relatively lesser impact on policymaking than their quantitative counterparts. With this challenge, this paper presents another quantitative metric: the Fluidity of Innovation applied in the Philippines from 2001 to 2021. The study analyses data from public government reports and reputable private entities using the contextualized Reynolds Number from fluid mechanics. The findings reveal a significant transformation in the Philippines\u27 innovation, moving from a laminar (smooth and predictable) to a turbulent (rapid and complex) phase; this indicates the country has a growing capacity to cater to rapid development in technology such as Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computers. Since the Philippines is leaning towards a turbulent flow of innovation, some technology will be felt as Radical Innovation instead of Disruptive Innovation across the industries that allow the labor force to experience empowerment rather than a complete layoff. This research contributes to the broader understanding of innovation\u27s role in the Philippine economy and fiscal policies, particularly those for innovation and technology

Factors Contributing to Business Failure and Eventual Exit among Selected Tutorial Service Centers

    Get PDF
ess failure and exit are concomitants of business discontinuance which must be extensively studied as businesses such as tutorial centers can experience unfavorable events. This paper investigated the internal (i.e., owner/founder orientations) and external (i.e., compliance with government policies) antecedents leading to business failure and the eventual exit in the shadow education industry in 2013, particularly of Philippine privately owned tutorial centers which are divided into non-registered and registered services. Using the multiple case study approach, empirical findings showed that business failure is primarily caused by internal factors specifically the owner/founder orientations, while non-compliance with government regulations is secondary. The owner/founder orientations were comprised of motivation, characteristics/behavior, skill managerial deficiencies, capabilities, and financial knowledge shortcomings. Non-registered tutorial centers asserted that only skill/managerial deficiencies and capabilities lead to failure while registered tutorial services perceived all as reasons for business failure. Not complying with government policies can affect more the registered tutorial services than the non-registered centers. Business exit was chosen by all the owners of tutorial centers as a viable option in case of business failure. Future studies can consider obtaining more participants and comprehensively investigating tutorial centers from different countries to enrich cross-country research in shadow education

    Get PDF
The Barangay San Pedro in San Simon, Pampanga, partially bounded by the Pampanga River, faces seasonal flooding due to river inundation and soil erosion. Bamboo, with its ecological and economic benefits, plays a crucial role in mitigating adverse weather effects. Studying bamboo and documenting residents’ valuation of this plant can inform intelligent responses to annual riverside community challenges. The mixed-methods research aims to create an action plan for implementing a bamboo planting program to address these issues. A field study shown that the Barangay San Pedro, situated along the Pampanga River, already boasts diverse bamboo species. Six bamboo species were mapped and identified: bayog, Buddha belly, kawayan dilaw, kawayan tinik, kawayan tsina, and Taiwan bamboo. A survey of 310 adults residing near the riverbank revealed that despite difficulties in identifying bamboo names, they were aware of its ecological significance, characteristics, and uses. On average, riverside residents expressed moderate interest in learning about bamboo cultivation and using it for livelihood. Interviews with 21 residents further highlighted their deep appreciation for bamboo. The barangay community leader even acknowledged previous bamboo initiatives but highlighted deficiencies in the existing broad action plan. The study’s proposed action plan rectifies these gaps and ensures effective implementation of the bamboo planting program. Riverside residents of the barangay recognize the value of bamboo but lack comprehensive knowledge about its diversity. The study recommends targeted information campaigns, prioritizing native bamboo like kawayan tinik, and integrating bamboo planting into the basic education curriculum and community greening efforts through multisectoral collaboration
