Stakeholders’ Awareness and Acceptability of PRMSU’s Revised Vision Statement and Mission and the Goals and Objectives of the Communication and Information Technology Programs
Vision, mission, goals, and objectives (VMGOs) function as the founda-tion of an educational institution. The Accrediting Agency for Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) underscored that an educational institution is assessed according to the degree how its VMGOs are achieved, but not in comparison with others. This descrip-tive cross-sectional survey research was used to gauge the level of awareness and acceptability of the stakeholders on the PRMSU vision statement and mission and the goals and objectives (VMGO) of the Communication and Information Technology Programs of PRMSU Sta Cruz Campus. The stakeholders are “very much aware” of the universi-ty’s new vision statement, mission, goals, and objectives of the teacher education program, they have full participation in the revision of the vision statement. The VMGO is clear, understandable, and acceptable as perceived by the stakeholders. Massive information dissemination of the new vision statement in all media types is recommended. Further-more, stakeholders must be encouraged to share their part in realizing the university’s VMGO
Entrepreneurial Intent of Filipino Undergraduate Health Sciences Stu-dents: A Descriptive Cross-Sectional Study
This quantitative study, grounded in Ajzen’s (1991) Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), investigates the entrepreneurial inten-tions of Filipino undergraduate health sciences students using a descriptive cross-sectional research design. The study involved 820 respondents from various health sciences programs in North Luzon, Philippines, who completed an online survey. Demographic characteristics and entrepreneurial intent were assessed through a researcher-designed Demographic Profile Questionnaire (DPQ) and the Individual Entrepreneurial Intent Scale (IEIS) established by Thompson (2009). This study adopts a positivist view, empha-sizing objectivity, consistency, and replicability through statistical methods. The findings reveal that the undergraduate health sci-ences students demonstrate a “good” level of entrepreneurial in-tentions, with a notable significant variation observed between those who have taken business-related courses and those who have not, with the former exhibiting higher intent. Other factors, such as age, gender, and marital status, did not show significant differences in entrepreneurial intentions, suggesting that educa-tional experiences play a more critical role than personal charac-teristics. The study recommends educational strategies and poli-cies, such as curricular enhancement towards entrepreneurial ed-ucation in health sciences education, to foster innovation and en-courage healthcare entrepreneurship. Overall, this research con-tributes to the expanding literature on entrepreneurship; however, like other studies, it has limitations. Therefore, future research directions are offered
The Dominant Sports Coaching Style Preferred by the Athletes from a State University in the Philippines
This research explores the dominant sports coaching style preferred by athletes at Cavite State University Imus Campus in the Philippines. Drawing upon a descriptive research methodology, the study investigates athletes\u27 preferences across various demographic factors and types of sports played. A total of 183 officially enrolled athletes participated in the study, providing valuable insights into their coaching preferences.
The findings reveal a universal preference for democratic coaching styles (x̄= 4.69) among athletes, emphasizing collaboration, communication, and participatory decision-making. Regardless of age, sex, year level, or degree program, athletes consistently rated democratic coaching as their preferred style. However, variations and exceptions were observed across certain types of sports, highlighting the importance of tailored coaching approaches. An interesting finding emerged regarding archery, where the athlete\u27s average ratings for all coaching styles—Democratic, Autocratic, and Laissez-Faire—were consistently rated as x̄=5.00, suggesting a preference for any coaching style by a single athlete. Moreover, exceptions were observed in specific sports. For instance, in Chess, an Autocratic coaching style was dominant, indicating a preference for a directive approach (x̄=4.91). Similarly, in Lawn Tennis, athletes showed dual preferences for both Democratic and Autocratic coaching styles.
It is significant that coaches recognize and adapt to athletes\u27 preferences to optimize engagement, motivation, and performance outcomes. Aligning the appropriate coaching style to the athletes’ preference, can enhance the overall athletic experience and contribute to the success and satisfaction of athletes in their sporting endeavors
Validating The Use of Comic Strips as Instructional Materials to Address Environmental Issues
The aimed of this study was to investigate the possibility of using comic strips as teaching materials to address environmental issues related to the over-exploitation of deep wells, which was one of the main environmental problems in Tabango, Leyte. In essence, the goal of this study is to address this issue because people often lack awareness of the implications of their actions. The efficacy of rubric ratings was employed by the investigator to assess the calibre of the comic strips generated. The researcher created a comic strip as instructional material using a descriptive-developmental design, and validators would act as the study\u27s primary respondents. Their opinions about how the comic strips were used were obtained as primary data regarding the application of these educational resources. The research concluded that the validated comic strip was reliable, and the developed comic strips were found to be useful, appropriate, and effective in addressing the issue of overuse of deep wells due to the reason that most of the expert validators have a weighted average of 0.98, 0.54, 1.08, 1.16, 1.18 having an overall interpretation as “AGREE”. Thus, the study highlights the potential of utilizing comic strips as educational material for environmental issues
English Language Assessment Tools in The Modular Distance Learning: Maintaining Academic Integrity and Validating Student Outcomes
The experiences of English teachers in learning assessment in the modular distance learning modality provide valuable insights into the assessment trends and interventions needed to improve student learning. This study delved into the experiences of English teachers in learning assessment in the modular distance learning modality as a precursor to understanding the assessment trends and interventions in the Department of Education, Division of Bohol, and Tagbilaran City for the school year 2021–2022. A narrative research design was used to understand the experiences of ten (10) purposely selected English teachers from public schools in Bohol and Tagbilaran City Divisions in English assessment in the modular distance learning modality. Semi-structured interviews were conducted to collect data, which was then analyzed using thematic analysis. Results revealed that the selected English teachers in Bohol have been using various assessment tools, methods, and feedback mechanisms during the implementation of modular distance learning. These include diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments and traditional and alternative assessment methods. Teachers have also used multiple feedback mechanisms, including written, online, in-person, and multimodal feedback. To maintain academic integrity, teachers have been providing clear guidance and support to students, avoiding bias and favoritism, and using specific criteria for evaluation. The study also found that teachers have faced challenges in ensuring academic integrity, overcoming logistical and communication barriers, and adapting to new instructional and assessment methods. However, they have demonstrated resilience by aligning their assessment tools with the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELC), utilizing innovative feedback mechanisms, and promoting academic integrity. The study concludes by recommending that teachers adopt a flexible approach to assessment, promote the alignment of assessment tools with the MELC, encourage multiple feedback mechanisms, promote academic integrity, and provide support and resources to teachers
