This descriptive-correlational study aimed to identify the students’ awareness regarding their career interests and career readiness regarding the learning experience, learning outcomes, and pre-college experience of Grade 10 students at a private university in Cebu City. Using Slovin’s formula, there should be 206 respondents; however, 198 have participated. Also, several statistical treatments were applied to the study’s findings. The findings regarding the profile and the career interests of the students, as well as their age, gender, total income, parents\u27 educational attainment, and occupation, found no relationship. Another finding regarding the profile and career readiness revealed that both the mother and father\u27s age and educational attainment have a significant relationship. Career interest and career readiness have a solid positive relationship. Thus, the finding shows that the relationship between the two variables is solid, and it also indicates that interest will influence the student\u27s career readiness and how ready they are to step up to the next level of their studies. The findings disclosed that the student\u27s career interest is a significant factor (computed value 14.4) in pursuing their major field of specialization, primarily supported by their career readiness. The more the student is interested in a particular field, the more the student is ready to pursue his dream career. Based on the findings and conclusion, it is suggested that all grade levels should be given a career interest survey and ready to think, prepare, and choose what career path they need to take in the future. As much as possible, parents should also play a significant role in selecting the students\u27 careers so that they can guide their students in what career is best suited for them

    Get PDF
The introduction of Philippine folk dance (PFD) has been a very challenging pursuit by many physical educators in the Philippines. Thus, a continuous exploration of potential instruction powered by digital technologies is currently being explored. Hence, this study employed iSAYAW - a web-based system teaching-learning material for teaching PFD. This study utilized a quantitative action research approach, employing a one-group pre-test and post-test inquiry. A 50-item researcher-made test was administered to assess students\u27 conceptual understanding of Philippine folk dance before and after the intervention. A class of 45 students was identified to gain the lowest mean score during the pre-test, which was the reason for the four-week implementation of iSAYAW. After the intervention, it was found that the post-test scores showed a notable increase compared to pre-test scores, indicating that the web-based learning material effectively enhanced students\u27 conceptual understanding of PFD and contributed to their learning of the concepts. Hence, it was revealed that students\u27 experiences were enjoyable and that using the app was helpful for independent learning. It led them to improve their scores as it offers lessons that the teachers are not teaching sometimes. In contrast, this application mitigates the learning process of the PFD concepts. However, students faced challenges, particularly with their internet connection limiting their learning experience with the application. Hence, it is recommended that students explore iSAYAW, expand its content, extend usage duration, include multiple grade levels, and promote cultural heritage to enhance learning and appreciation of Philippine folk dance

A quantitative research design was employed, surveying 208 students via a structured questionnaire. The study analyzed the data using descriptive and inferential statistics. The demographic profile of respondents shows a majority of females (55.77%) and students aged 21 to 24 years (48.07%), with most enrolled in the BSIT program. Results indicate that coffee consumption is a prevalent part of students\u27 daily routines, with 76.44% drinking coffee daily and a significant preference for both hot and cold types (57.21%). One cup per day is the most common consumption level (57.21%). Students perceived coffee to significantly enhance cognitive functions, energy levels, productivity, and mood during study sessions, aligning with previous research highlighting caffeine\u27s positive effects on memory, alertness, and motor coordination (Lin et al., 2023). However, there are mixed perceptions regarding dependency and withdrawal symptoms, with some negative impacts noted when coffee is not drunk, echoing concerns about tolerance and withdrawal symptoms discussed in the literature (Van De Walle et al., 2019). Findings showed no significant differences in the perceived effects of coffee consumption when the respondents were grouped by age, sex, year level, or degree program. This research suggests that coffee consumption plays a vital role in the student\u27s academic lives. While consumption enhances cognitive and academic performance, it also presents potential risks related to coffee dependency. Administrators can use the findings of this study to enhance the school environment with a focus on food and health security by providing healthier alternatives and varied coffee options in campus canteens that can support students\u27 academic success

    Get PDF
Absence Without Official Leave (AWOL) has been an emerging issue in various organizations, including the Philippine National Police (PNP) Special Action Force (SAF) unit. Personnel going AWOL create gaps in the workforce which strain available resources, disrupt cohesiveness within the unit, and compromise the effectiveness of vital operations. This study sought to identify strategies for mitigating absence without official leave (AWOL) among Special Action Force (SAF) personnel, recognizing its multifaceted impact on the organization and its operations. Specifically, it aims to determine the sociodemographic profile, examine how the challenges faced by SAF personnel contribute to the increasing number of AWOL cases, identify the degree of the problems met by SAF personnel, analyze if there is a significant relationship between the extent of challenges and the degree of problems met in the AWOL status of SAF personnel and ascertain frameworks of strategies and resolutions for SAF units as mechanisms to control AWOL status. The study involved a quantitative survey research design where questionnaires were used to collect data from a total of 240 respondents. Frequency, percentage distribution, means, Pearson Moment Correlation Coefficient was used using Statistical package for social sciences (SPSS). Results imply that there is no relationship between the difficulties AWOL SAF members face and the extent of issues they encounter into. Personal circumstances including family problems, mental health challenges, or dissatisfaction with work conditions frequently have an impact on AWOL incidents. This emphasizes how complicated AWOL incidents can be and how important it is to take each situation and motivations into account when dealing with them. This indicates the need to implement more programs that will address their needs, boost their morale and will promote work-life balance activities

This research examines the correlation between the academic achievement and licensing test outcomes of electrical engineering (EE) and mechanical engineering (ME) graduates from Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) in the Philippines over a five-year span. This study used a quantitative research technique involving a descriptive-correlational approach, trend analysis, and path analysis to examine data from graduates who underwent licensing examinations for the first time during this period. The results showed a significant correlation between academic achievement in certain subject areas and success in licensing exams for graduates in electrical engineering (EE) and mechanical engineering (ME). The equation for calculating the Board Rating for EE graduates is: Board Rating = 125.430 - (17.581 * ESAS) + (12.208 * MATH) - (13.011 * EE). The logistic regression equation is P = 1/(1 + e^(-(24.99651 + (5.812567 * MATH) - (3.72252 * ESAS) - (10.1496 * EE)), while the discriminant equation is D = -13.577 - (3.943 * MATH) + (2.723 * ESAS) + (6.134 * EE). The formula for calculating the Board Rating for ME graduates is as follows: Board Rating = 121.578 - (10.387 * IPPE) - (5.980 * MATHA) - (0.721 * MACHINE). The logistic regression equation is P = 1/(1 + e^(-(16.65924 - 1.99212 * MATHA - 5.60296 * IPPE + 2.329647 * MACHINE)), while the discriminant equation is D = -11.573 + 5.823 * IPPE + 0.931 * MATHA - 2.592 * MACHINE. Path analysis clarified both the direct and indirect impacts of academic success on the licensing test results. Mathematical models provide useful insights for engineering education, highlighting the need for focused curriculum creation and student assistance in engineering education programs.
