Rainfall Variability and Its Influence on P Palm Oil Productivity (Elaeis Guineensis Jacq.): Case Study at PT. Nusaina Group Seram Island Province Maluku
Rainfall variability significantly influences plant productivity; including palm oil. This research aims to describe rainfall variability and its influence on oil palm productivity on Seram Island, Maluku Province. The data collected consists of rainfall, palm oil production data and supporting data. The analytical method used consists of generating rainfall data, analyzing extreme rainfall conditions and regression analysis to see the relationship between rainfall and palm oil productivity. The research results show that the El Nino rainfall anomaly at the research location in the 1992-2021 period occurred 8 times with a frequency of once every 2 - 6 years or an average of once every 3 years. La Nina occurs 7 times with a frequency of 1 – 10 years or an average of once every 4 years. The very extreme El Nino caused a reduction in rainfall at the research location by 888 mm or 40% of normal conditions, whereas the very extreme La Nina event resulted in an increase in rainfall of 1491 mm or 58% of normal conditions. Rainfall variability is very closely related to oil palm productivity with the regression equation Y = 94.05 – 0.1558x + 0.000083x 2 – 10 -8 x 3 and the accuracy level R 2 is 98.6%
Evaluation of Mean Square Errors in Simple Moving Average versus Exponential Smoothing Method and Assessment of Time as Predictor in Forecasting Myocardial Infarction Cases in the Philippines
This study aimed to identify the best forecasting model and evaluate if time (in months and years) is a predictor for Myocardial Infarction cases in the Philippines. The research design was quantitative research, specifically descriptive study design. Secondary data on monthly reported cases of myocardial infarction for the past five years (November 2018-November 2023) from Google Trends was utilized. Microsoft Excel and SPSS were the software used to obtain results. Simple Moving Average (SMA) and Exponential Smoothing Method (ESM) were the forecasting techniques used in this study. At the same time, Mean, Standard Deviation, Analysis of Variance, and Independent sample t-test were the statistical tools utilized for both descriptive and inferential analyses. Results revealed that the mean level of cases reported for the past five years was 54. Also, according to SMA and ESM, the forecasted cases for the next succeeding month (December 2023) were 66 and 61, respectively. Results also showed that the Mean Squared Error (MSE) value of SMA is lower than ESM, making SMA a better forecasting method. Moreover, there was a significant difference between the reported cases when grouped according to year, with Year 5 having the highest number of cases and Year 1 having the lowest. Further, there was no significant difference between the SMA and ESM forecasted cases. Furthermore, time (year and month) significantly predicted the number of myocardial infarction cases reported in the Philippines
Implementation of Work Immersion in the New Normal: Basis for Students’ Quality Performance and Satisfaction
This study evaluated the implementation of work immersion in the new normal, students\u27 quality performance, and work immersion satisfaction. The relationship between variables and the mediating effect of students\u27 quality performance between work immersion implementation and student satisfaction was also investigated. Adherence, exposure, quality of delivery in terms of work immersion curriculum, work immersion processes, and work immersion assessment, as well as participant responsiveness, were used to assess the extent of work immersion implementation. In addition, the level of satisfaction among students was evaluated using Task values (attainment value, intrinsic value, utility value, and cost); Motivation factors (work itself, achievement, and responsibility); and Hygiene factors (administrative policies, supervision, interpersonal, and working conditions). On the other hand, students’ quality performance was gauged base on teamwork, communication, attendance/punctuality, productivity/resilience, initiative/proactivity, judgement/decision-making, and dependability. Respondents are Grade 12 students from public secondary schools in the SDO Tayabas who have participated in actual work immersion activities in an authentic workplace. The structured questionnaire was created and validated to collect data from respondents via Google Forms to determine the extent of the research variables and their association. These data were analyzed to obtain reliable and valid study results. The study\u27s findings revealed that work immersion program implementation is significantly related to student satisfaction. Work immersion program implementation is significant to student quality performance; student satisfaction creates a relationship with work immersion program implementation. The mediation analysis results indicate that the overall student’s quality performance can transmit the effect of influenced implementation of work immersion, which increases student Satisfaction. Also, partial mediation exists considering the extent of the mediating effect of students\u27 quality performance between the work immersion implementation and the students\u27 satisfaction with work immersion. This is due to the analysis that the work immersion implementation as the independent variable significantly affects a mediating variable, which is the students\u27 quality performance. The students\u27 quality performance as the mediating variable has a direct impact on the students\u27 satisfaction with work immersion as the independent variable
Effectiveness of Contextualized Marungko Approach-Based Supplementary Reading Material
Acquiring solid reading skills is significant in education as it is the cornerstone for academic success and lifelong learning. This sequential explanatory mixed-methods study investigates the effectiveness of a contextualized Marungko approach-based supplementary reading material in improving the reading performance of Grade 1 pupils. In the pre-experimental phase the Early Grade Reading Assessment (EGRA) tool was utilized to measure the reading skills of the twenty four (24) Grade 1 pupils in terms of identifying letter sounds, identifying initial sounds, reading familiar words, reading invented words, and reading oral passages before and after the implementation of the contextualized Marungko approach-based supplementary reading material. Findings revealed a significant improvement in the early reading skills of Grade 1 pupils after using the supplementary reading material. This indicated that the reading material effectively enhanced the Grade 1 pupils’ reading performance. The responses of the five (5) participants in the qualitative phase, which were examined following Braun and Clark (2013) analysis, yielded two (2) themes. It is recommended that educational institutions and policymakers should consider incorporating the Marungko Approach into their reading instruction programs to enhance alphabet knowledge, phonemic awareness, word recognition, decoding, and oral reading fluency
