Level of Acceptability of Computer-Assisted Assessment (CAA) and Student’s Academic Performance in Key Stage 2 of Ilalim Elementary School for The School Year 2022-2023
In this research study, the researcher aimed to determine the level of acceptability of computer-assisted assessment and learners’ academic performance of 127 Key Stage 2 Learners of Ilalim Elementary School for the School Year 2022-2023. A descriptive survey instrument was used to determine the level of acceptability adapted from the computer-based assessment acceptance model (CBAAM) and was modified by the researcher.
Data revealed that the use of computer-assisted assessment of the Key Stage 2 learners was Moderately Acceptable with a mean of 4.01, indicating that the application purposively used it to improve their knowledge and skills. The learners gained an Outstanding academic performance as reflected in their general weighted average from the four grading periods. Significant differences were found in the level of acceptability of the use of computer-assisted assessment on the profile variables of the learner-respondents. Moreover, the results showed a positive correlation between the level of acceptability of the use of computer-assisted assessment on the learner’s academic performance.
Based on the gathered data from the survey, computer-assisted assessment provides the learners with a positive experience when using the application through its friendly user interface. Teachers may continue to use the computer-assisted assessment application to motivate their learners to increase their engagement in learning their subject. It is recommended that teachers may further enhance the delivery of questions in the CAA application to improve learners’ academic performance in the future
Strengthening Community Mobilization Program: Its Implication on Building Police-Community Relations
This study determined the implications of strengthening community mobilization programs for building police community relations in Batangas Province and utilized a descriptive-quantitative approach with the use of a self-constructed questionnaire based on the parameters of PRO 4A MC No. 2017-02. A total of 392 respondents (15 PCADU personnel and 377 residents from the 13 certified mobilized barangays of Bauan, Batangas) were chosen as the respondents of the study through stratified proportional sampling. The data was gathered two weeks before it was completed and treated with statistical tools such as percentage, weighted mean, and independent t-test. The study revealed that most of the police personnel are Police Corporal, under 5 years in PCADU, and have acquired PCAD Course, Online PCAD Executive Course, and Preparedness Search and Rescue and Relief Operation Seminar. Meanwhile, majority of the community members belong to the middle class, businessman, and live in a rural community. Moreover, the majority of PCADU personnel described CMPs in terms of community organization, community information and education, community empowerment and mobilization, and certification of mobilized barangays as always implemented, with weighted mean of 3.24, 3.23, 3.25, and 3.27, respectively, while the community members described them as often implemented, with weighted mean of 3.18, 3.17, 3.19, and 3.21, respectively. Majority of the respondents strongly agreed on the effects of strengthening CMPs, with weighted mean of 3.29 and 3.23, respectively. The output of the study is a proposed input to help improve the sustainability of CMPs in Batangas Province based on the least-rated items
Flipped Classroom: Effect on the Academic Performance and Motivation of Grade 8 Students in Mathematics
Teachers nowadays are being challenged due to continuous decrease in the analytical and numerical ability of the students. Strategies were continuously studied by teachers to address such concern answering also questions such as how students perceived flipped classroom setting as an aid to the teaching learning process. This study utilized descriptive quasi-experimental design through 189 Grade 8 students where it had found out that in terms of the Pre-Assessment results, most of the students are in the “did not meet expectation” category but still are motivated in terms of Performance Task Making, Problem Solving, Classroom Participation and Examination. In terms of the post-assessment results, most of the students are in the “satisfactory” category and are highly motivated in terms of Performance Task Making, and motivated in Problem Solving, Classroom Participation and Examination. There is a significant improvement in the academic performance of the students where post-assessment results showed higher mean score than the pre-assessment results. There is a positive significant relationship between Performance and Level of Motivation. The main issues and concerns of the students in the implementation of flipped classroom is the slow internet connection at school and at home. Thus, concludes that indeed Flipped Classroom Learning is a way to better improve education identifying the effect on the academic performance and motivation of students in mathematics noting also that internet connection plays a crucial role in this type of learning setting
An Inventory of Learning Styles Among Eleventh Graders
This study aimed to determine the learning styles of the eleventh-graders and their manifestations in terms of their learning styles. The study utilized a mixed-method research design, namely sequential explanatory design, that involved 135 respondents for the quantitative phase and eight outlier participants selected for the qualitative phase based on their higher marks from the quantitative results. The study found that among the three learning styles, namely, auditory, tactile, kinesthetic, and visual learning styles, the respondents preferred the visual learning style red among the three learning styles of the study. Also, the study findings found no significant difference between the sex of the respondents and the three learning styles. In addition, the study discovered the participants\u27 manifestations and the utilization of various learning styles and approaches when it comes to their learning, such as studying at night, using search engines, and doing extracurricular activities to help them enhance their learning process. Finally, learning styles and strategies serve as pivotal tools for the students to be more equipped, practical, and efficient regarding their academic performance at school. Hence, students, teachers, and school administrators should be able to understand various learning styles and approaches. Also, future researchers should study the environmental factors that affect students\u27 learning process
Information and Communications Technology Retooling Program: Optimizing Teachers’ Competency
The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the ICT retooling program for teachers and its influence on their competency and performance. A research-made questionnaire was distributed to 260 Junior High School teachers in Bulacan District II, including Baliwag, Bustos, and Plaridel. Additionally, School Principals, Master Teachers, Head Teachers, and Education Program Supervisors in Bulacan were evaluated using a modified research questionnaire.
The findings revealed that teachers viewed the ICT Retooling Program positively, noting its encouragement of participation and diverse perspectives rather than a sole focus on technical skills. However, this led to relatively low post-program enthusiasm for educational innovation. Teachers rated themselves competent in ICT, excelling in knowledge creation, deepening, and acquisition dimensions, and demonstrated proficiency in utilizing ICT for teaching and learning, particularly in positive ICT use criteria. The study concluded that a balance between soft skills development (confidence, assertiveness, networking) and technical skills is necessary to foster innovation in education. Continuous professional development in ICT is crucial for translating policy directives into classroom actions and creating inclusive learning environments.
Recommendations include conducting a needs assessment to identify areas for improvement in teachers\u27 ICT skills and aligning ICT retooling programs with broader school improvement goals. These recommendations should be integrated into the school improvement plan for increased effectiveness. A long-term sustainability plan, including continuous professional development and technology integration, is essential. Financial aid for graduate degree programs should be provided to sustain teacher competency. Lastly, the Sobel Test is recommended to measure the significance of the teachers\u27 ICT Competency Framework (CFT) and PPST results in the ICT retooling program
The Difference Between Internet and Social Networking Use among Ninth Graders
This study aims to dive into ninth-grade students\u27 internet and social networking experiences, examining both intrapersonal and interpersonal components. The study used a mixed-method sequential explanatory design to incorporate quantitative and qualitative methodologies, with a strong emphasis on ethical considerations. In the quantitative phase, data is collected using standardized questionnaires, which were then analyzed and examined statistically to find occurring patterns and trends from the feedback given by the ninth graders. Following that, the qualitative phase includes in-depth interviews to contextualize and explain the quantitative results from the first phase of the study. The findings provide complex insights into the participants\u27 attitudes and behaviors around internet usage and social networking. While most people believe that the internet is mostly entertaining and convenient, there are differing opinions regarding the presence of its impact on academic performance and mental well-being. This study concludes that there is no substantial difference in internal and social networking experiences between male and female students. The findings highlight the complex nature of ninth graders\u27 Internet and social networking experiences, including knowledge acquisition, social communication, and emotional regulation. Recommendations include encouraging responsible and ethical digital citizenship and offering support tools to help students navigate the online environment securely and successfully, while also developing literacy. Overall, this study contributes to a better knowledge of how young individuals engage with and how significant individuals are influenced by the digital landscape, providing valuable information for educational institutions and policymakers looking to create positive internet experiences among night graders students
Extent of Implementation on the Use of Body Worn Camera in Police Operations: Basis for Enhanced Action Plan
This study aimed to evaluate the implementation on the use of body worn camera in police operations among police officers in Cebu City. It utilized descriptive comparative analysis, employing survey methods. However, it was confined to only 11 Police Stations in Cebu City. The participants consisted of 50 police officers who were selected to utilize body worn cameras, as well as 50 community people in the study area. The selection process for both groups involved purposive sample technique. The research instrument in this study was a survey questionnaire adopted from the operational guidelines and policies on the use of body worn camera during police operations of the Philippine National Police (2018). All the strands of the implementation on the use of body worn camera in police operations were rated by the respondents based on a 5-point scale. Data were analyzed using mean, and One Way Analysis of Variance. The community and law enforcement have overwhelmingly praised body-worn cameras for their major contribution to the development of good ties between the two groups. Cameras enhance accountability and transparency, thereby boosting public trust in the police force. Nevertheless, questions regarding the implications for privacy and safety persist. The presence of cameras has a beneficial effect on both workers and the community, strengthening public trust, enhancing accountability, and decreasing the use of force. Lived Experiences of Non-Indigenous Teachers in an Aeta Community: A Phenomenological Study
This study aimed to determine the experiences of non-indigenous teachers assigned in an IP school. Learning and respecting the cultural protocols in gaining the trust not only for their students but also for the whole Aeta community to become an effective teacher of the diverse learners. Understanding how non-indigenous teachers and indigenous teachers work together to provide quality education that both meet its standards while maintaining their rich cultural heritage. The researcher utilized a phenomenological research study followed a transcendental approach to explore the experiences of non-indigenous teachers assigned in an IP community for the school year 2019-2020. The participants of the study were the six female and two male non-indigenous teachers designated in an IP community for a year or more. Eight participants are senior and junior high school teachers and one master teacher at LAKAS high school. Total population sampling is used to yield data for this study. Since the number of non-IP teachers assigned in LAKAS high school is very small. Based on the gathered data, there are 7 themes emerged in this study that described the qualities of non-IP teachers. Sustainable Lean Procurement and Contract Management in Oil and Gas Industry
Lean methodologies have enabled numerous businesses to enhance their processes, reduce inventory levels, and improve ergonomics. Additionally, lean has allowed organizations to adapt their technologies and keep pace with necessary advancements. However, despite the numerous benefits it offers and the implementation of lean thinking and procurement in the oil and gas industry, companies have frequently encountered challenges related to the timely delivery of materials and services.
This research aimed to understand how the oil and gas industry implements lean procurement practices, investigate the relationship between lean procurement and supply chain performance, and identify the challenges faced by the industry in implementing lean procurement. The study employed a case study approach, focusing on the oil and gas industry\u27s command centre as the target population.
Through stratified random sampling, a sample of 37 leaders from the oil and gas industry was selected, representing 20% of the target population. Secondary data sources included the industry\u27s annual reports and financial summaries, while primary data was collected through questionnaires.
The quantitative data gathered for this research was analysed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20, employing both descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. Descriptive statistics components included percentages, standard deviation, frequency, and mean. Data presentation was facilitated through tables, charts, and diagrams. A narrative framework was utilized to present the results of the content analysis conducted on the qualitative data. Additionally, regression analysis was employed to further understand the relationship between lean procurement and supply chain performance.
The study results demonstrated the existence of a positive and significant correlation between lean procurement and supply chain performance. Furthermore, the study indicated that the oil and gas industry utilized lean procurement strategies such as electronic procurement, 5S, comprehensive quality management, continuous improvement, supplier-firm collaboration, the pull system, and employee involvement and empowerment.
The study\u27s findings suggest that the oil and gas industry should foster relationships with service providers staffed by knowledgeable personnel capable of efficiently implementing lean procurement practices. By doing so, the industry can effectively address the challenges associated with timely material delivery and optimize its supply chain performance.
 
Dialogic Discussion as a Platform for Building Speaking and Vocabulary Skills
The study explored (1) the most common speaking and vocabulary problems of 12 senior high students; (2) the implementation of 3 ESL teachers of dialogic discussion to address the identified students’ problems; (3) the improvement of students; and (4) the insights and implications of the intervention. Using a qualitative mosaic approach, the study used field notes and conversations with students and teachers. During preliminary data collection, it was found that the students’ speaking and vocabulary problems comprised fluency and accuracy issues, language function deficiencies, negative affective state, and poor classroom atmosphere. To address these problems, the three teachers implemented five dialogic discussion sessions. The implementation characterizes structure, scaffolding, and socialization. For students, the sessions helped them increase their confidence and speaking skills. These findings suggest that dialogic discussion may function as a platform engendering processes such as agency, exploration, and enhancement.
