Correlation of the Presence of Parasites in Soil and Nutritional Status of Children Aged 3 to 5 at Purok 15 Barangay Tigatto, Buhangin, Davao City
his study aimed to determine the correlation between the presence of parasites in soil and the nutritional status of children aged 3 to 5 at Purok 15 Barangay Tigatto, Buhangin, Davao City. The research design was descriptive and correlational. The researchers gathered the weight and height of children aged 3 to 5 in Purok 15 of Barangay Tigatto, Davao City. Researchers identified the collected soil samples using a systematic sampling technique. Further, the study used Cobb\u27s method to decant and sieve for detecting parasites. The weight and height were calculated to get the BMI. The mean and standard deviation were used to evaluate the nutritional status of the children and the level of parasites. Furthermore, Pearson r was used to determine the relationship between soil-transmitted helminths and the nutritional status of children aged 3 to 5. Results showed that out of 25 samples, 32% of soil samples got positive results with an infectious parasite (Strongyloides stercoralis), while 68% of soil samples were negative from the parasite. Participants\u27 weight (kgs) and height (cm) are normal. In line with this, the BMI of both male and female participants is normal. Also, results showed that the level of the parasites is very low. Moreover, the relationship between the soil-transmitted helminths did not significantly influence the nutritional status of children aged 3 to 5. In conclusion, the soil-transmitted helminths do not affect the nutritional status of children aged 3 to 5. Hence, other factors may influence the nutritional status of children aged 3 to 5. Moreover, since the relationship between STH and the nutritional status of children is not significant, the presence or absence of STH in the latrine area does not affect the nutritional status of children under 3 to 5 years old. Thus, immediate action toward STH elimination could prevent the production of more parasites that could lead to a parasite-free environment
Analysis of Land Water Balance in Various Rainfall Conditions and Its Utilization to Determine Planting Patterns of Food Crops in the Eastern Part of Seram District of Seram Island
Soil water balance calculation is one of the methods used to estimate the dynamics of soil water content during plant growth. This study aims to describe rainfall conditions and analyze soil water balance as well as determine the growing season and composition of food crop combination patterns based on the available growing season in East Seram Island. This research uses rainfall data for 30 years of observation period 1992-2021 from Geser Meteorological Station (Data analysis with the following stages: (i) rainfall analysis (ii) calculation of average rainfall (iii) determination of rainfall with a 75% chance (iv) calculation of soil water balance using the Thornthwaite and Mather method (v) determination of the growing season and cropping pattern. The results showed that the average rainfall in East Seram was 2,194 mm/year with a water deficit (D) occurring in October and November, then the rainfall had a 75% chance of being exceeded at 1,439 mm/year with a water deficit of 228 mm/year which lasted for eight months, namely August - March. The growing season under normal rainfall conditions was available throughout the year, while under high rainfall conditions, a 75% chance of the growing season was available for five months, namely May and October. The cropping patterns and crop combinations used were monoculture, polyculture, and intercropping with combinations of cassava, maize, sweet potato, groundnut, mung bean, cassava-corn, cassava-peanuts/green beans, maize-peanuts, cassava-corn-peanuts/green beans, cassava-corn-horticultural crops
The Relationship between Service Quality and Customer Satisfaction with the Intention to Choose a Hospital Again
The aim of this research is to examine the relationship between service quality and consumer satisfaction with the intention to choose a hospital again. The hypothesis in this research is that there is a relationship between service quality and consumer satisfaction with the intention to choose a hospital again. The subjects of this research were 104 respondents who had used hospital services. Data was obtained using the intention to choose hospital return scale, service quality scale and patient satisfaction scale. The results of this study show that there is a positive relationship between service quality and consumer satisfaction with the intention to choose a hospital again (ρ < 0.05). This means that the higher the quality of service and customer satisfaction, the higher their intention to reuse the hospital\u27s services
Promoting Students’ Conceptual Understanding through Directive Teacher Guidance and Non-directive Teaching Model in a Collaborative Problem Solving
This study examined and aimed to promote students’ level of conceptual understanding in problem-solving through Directive Teacher Guidance (DTG) and the Non-directive Teaching Model (NDTM). The study employed sequential-explanatory mixed research using quasi-experimental switching replication treatment involving quantitative and qualitative data. Two groups of Grade 8 high school students were used as participants in the study. One group had 36 students, and the other had 38 students exposed to DTG and NDTM approaches. Quantitative data were obtained from the scores of students from the pretest, first posttest, and second posttest about the topics in Mathematics subject. Qualitative data were from the analysis of participants’ responses in problem-solving, focus group discussion, and classroom observation. The t-test for the dependent sample was utilized to determine the significant change in students’ level of conceptual understanding after the first and second implementation phases, while the t-test for the independent sample was used to find out the significant difference between the pretest and posttests between the two groups. Results showed that students’ conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills significantly improved after exposure to the two approaches. The two groups’ levels of conceptual understanding in switching replication treatment are found to have no significant difference. Moreover, participants preferred guided questions and guided directions and believed in the importance of attaining a conceptual understanding of the lesson. It is suggested to integrate DTG and NDTM as teaching strategies and conduct a study considering a longer span of implementation to determine the effectiveness of the two approaches

Live, Love, and Suffer: The Lived Experiences of Trans Women Parents with Children in Cebu
Parenthood entails daunting responsibilities, even more so if parents are of a different gender spectrum such as trans women. Against a rigid heteronormative society, this phenomenological study explored the challenges and the struggles, as well as the coping mechanisms, of the trans-women parents in Metro Cebu, Philippines. Through Husserlian’s descriptive phenomenology, five participants were chosen through snowball sampling to share their experiences through in-depth interviews in 2023. Utilizing Colaizzi’s method of data analysis, the study revealed seven (7) recurring themes: (1) Financial Instability; (2) Societal Acceptance; (3) Shifting Family Dynamics; (4) Lack of Legal Government Protection; (5) Employment Possibilities; (6) Perseverance; and (7) Communication. These findings provided insights into the lives of trans-women parents in the Philippines and offered recommendations for policies that could help address the issues faced by this sub-group of parents. Moreover, this study served as a contribution to the literature on non-heteronormative families through the lived experiences of trans-women parents in a heteronormative society like the Philippines
