    The Effect of Health Consciousness, Environmental Attitudes and Environmental Knowledge on Green Purchase Intention (Case Study on Corkcicle)

    Introduction: Demand for sustainable goods and corporate methods has surged due to growing awareness of environmental and health concerns on a worldwide scale. Consumers are increasingly showing their interest in participating in lifestyles that support health and environmental sustainability. Research on green purchase intentionxis important for further research and analysis. This research aims to test and analyzexthe effect of health consciousness, environmental attitudes, and environmental knowledgexon green purchase intention, using Corkcicle as a case study. Method: This research categorized as quantitative study and will examine the scope ofxthexeffectxof health consciousness, environmentalxattitude, andxenvironmental knowledgexon green purchasingxintention for Corkcicle tumbler products. The population that was the focus of the research was the people of Bandar Lampung and sampling was carried out on 50 respondents using the purposive sampling method. This research employs multiple methods forxdataxanalysis. Result: The results of this research indicate that the three independent variables—environmentalxknowledge, environmental attitudes, and health consciousness—have a positivexeffect onxthe desire to makexgreen purchases. Conclusion: The more likely someone is to intend to buy green goods, the better their level of environmental knowledge, attitudes toward environmental issues, and health awareness

    Examining the Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Student Employability Skills - an Employer’s Perspective

    Like most university learners, students in the Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry at the University of Strathclyde, experienced hybrid learning environments from March 2020 transitioning into hybrid approaches for the full academic year 21/22. As students who were in the early years of their programme at this time, and experienced a shift from traditional education practices are soon to graduate, a short research project was undertaken to better understand the perception of employers on the impact of remote and hybrid learning on current, and future, graduate skills, and competencies. Several employers in the chemical industries were surveyed to rate changes in their perception of, and importance of, key graduate skills and competencies after the pandemic.  In general, it was shown that the employers responding to this survey did not show concern about the level of personal, professional, and higher-level cognitive skills developed by students working in remote/hybrid environments during the pandemic. A gap in practical skills was acknowledged as indicated by employers’ viewing students as being less skilled in this area, however the skills gap was not thought to be important with regards to employability. Additionally, employers indicated an increased importance on a student’s ability to develop and demonstrate basic personal and professional skills including communication, collaboration, interpersonal/networking, autonomy, self-management, and resilience. The research suggests programme leaders creating or modifying curricula should place attention on the development of these skills and competencies to ensure students are self-led to successfully transition into the workplace

    Development, Implementation, and Evaluation of Instructional Learning Package in Teaching-Learning Geometry 7

    The present study investigated the effectiveness of a developed learning package in teaching Geometry 7 specifically in constructions and solving problems involving polygons. Geometry is one of the subjects that many students find to be the most difficult and may be challenging for some children. The major goal of this study is to determine the effect of the developed learning package in teaching Geometry 7 improving the skills of construction and problem solving skills of the students. The learning package sought to provide an engaging learning environment by merging real-world situations and game-based components. The research design adapted a quasi-experimental design wherein it has a control and an experimental group. Pretest and posttest were conducted in the control and experimental group to compare the performance of students who utilized the learning package with those who did not. With the pretest and posttest scores of the students, it was found that the learning package was not effective in school A but effective in school B. The learning package has had a big impact in rural areas, resulting in the absence of significant differences between rural and urban schools. Furthermore, the study did not produce significant interaction between the locality and the usage of the developed learning package. Thus, the Developed Learning Package improved students’ comprehension and engagement with Geometry

    A Sequential Explanatory: The Academic Risk-taking among Tenth Graders in Public Senior High School

      ABSTRACT   This sequential explanatory research aims to determine the academic risk-taking of tenth graders. The result of the study was the basis of the proposed intervention plan to improve their confidence, support, and motivation to take risks in their academics. A mixed-method sequential explanatory design was used, involving 103 tenth graders in one of the public schools in Cluster I Schools Division of Pampanga. The study revealed that fear of failure, lack of support and motivation, discouragement, judgment, and low self-esteem are why they are not taking risks in their academics. Moreover, the study discovered that this is why the participants struggle with their academic curriculum and have less interest in academics. It affects the participant\u27s behaviour and the school\u27s performance. Even though it is difficult to feel supported because of the environment that they have and how their relationships with the people around them actually work, the findings eventually shed light on the factors that contribute to the student\u27s level of academic risk-taking. They need the support and motivation of their families and friends, encouragement to have high self-esteem and to be motivated to take risks without worrying about failure, and the willingness to take risks despite the difficulties that they may encounter so that they will achieve their goals of having good grades and boost their confidence to try new things beyond their capabilities. Therefore, the researchers made an intervention plan to address and improve the student\u27s academic risk-taking behavior. Recommendations included providing better equipment, comprehensive trainings on crisis communication, news writing and cybersecurity, fostering organizational collaboration, and recruiting specialists.  Finally, a Course Instructional Guide for Public Affairs Officers was developed and proposed for adoption and implementation to hone their effectiveness in promoting the PCG’s mission and functions

    Collaborative Learning Approach (CLA) in Improving Reading Proficiency

    Studies show that Filipino learners are not demonstrating proficiency in reading. In the recent Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2023 results, Filipino students were found to be poor at reading proficiency. One potential strategy is collaborative learning. Thus, this study aimed to determine the effect of the Collaborative Learning Approach (CLA) on the reading proficiency of seventh-grade students. This study used a quasi-experimental design with two experimental and control groups. Using purposive sampling, two grade 7 sections of the research site were included in the study. There were 26 students in one section who were chosen to be part of the experimental group and 24 in the other section, constituting the control group, for 50 students. Each group was given a pretest and a post-test. Students in the experimental group employed the collaborative reading method, while the control group used the traditional method. The questionnaire was validated by experts and deemed reliable, scoring .70 on the Kuder-Richardson test. Mean scores and independent t-tests were used to analyze the data. Results revealed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups regarding reading proficiency after the intervention of CLA with a p-value of 0.000. It was concluded that CLA significantly influences reading proficiency and can be recommended for use in the classroom. However, based on the PHIL-IRI criteria for reading proficiency, the students in the experimental group did not meet the minimum instructional or proficiency level requirements. It is therefore suggested that further research must be done to make conclusive evidence that CLA significantly influences reading proficiency and evaluate PHIL-IRI criteria for reading proficiency, considering that it is inconsistent with the independent t-test results showing a significant difference in the reading proficiency of the experimental group

    Teachers Difficulty and Coping Strategies in Physics

    This study investigates the difficulties encountered by physics educators and their coping strategies. Physics teaching presents various challenges such as addressing student misconceptions and integrating real-life examples. Understanding these challenges is crucial for developing effective coping strategies and enhancing physics education quality. Research suggests that addressing these challenges can improve teacher competency and student engagement. Investigating teachers\u27 difficulties and coping strategies is vital for advancing the field and achieving successful learning outcomes. Ten teachers from public and private schools in Sultan Kudarat province participated in the study and were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions with careful adherence to ethical standards. Results revealed challenges including teacher competency, students\u27 weak mathematical foundations, and low retention. Coping mechanisms involved instructional preparation, peer mentoring, and real-life application of physics concepts. Despite the hurdles, educators exhibit resilience through various coping mechanisms, emphasizing the importance of targeted interventions and support systems. By fostering collaboration, emphasizing real-world applications, and providing ongoing professional development, educators can enhance the quality of physics education and facilitate meaningful learning experiences for students

    The Power of Digital Communication in Scaling Remote Engineering Teams: An Interview-Based Study on Cultural Diversity and Challenges in Telecommuting

      ABSTRACT   In this day and age, the world has slowly been shifting to the widespread use of technology in almost all aspects, including employment. This is proven by the continuous growth in the number of remote jobs globally, which allows people to work from home through the use of technology anytime and anywhere. Naturally, challenges and dilemmas, especially when it comes to communication, arise in the workplace. However, the challenges experienced in the face-to-face setup may differ from what is experienced in a remote or online setup. That being said, this research aims to discover the organizational culture being practiced in a remote work setup, specifically its organizational culture, communication flow, and practices, as well as the communication model being observed in the workplace through the conduction of an interview between two engineers. The findings reveal that the organization has both linguistic diversity and cultural pluralism. Moreover, their primary communication channels are digital tools, which is an indication that the Interactive model of communication is observed in their company. In addition, employees, irrespective of their positions, are also given the chance to participate and talk during meetings, which signifies that the company\u27s communication flows are both vertical and horizontal. Lastly, technological barriers like internet connectivity impact project development, which may lead to miscommunications in the workplace. Overall, the research sheds light on communication challenges and practices in remote work environments while also highlighting the healthy work atmosphere the selected organization has cultivated

    e-TuroMo: A Valuable Virtual Community Service Project for Schools Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

    The COVID-19 pandemic has forced schools to adopt online teaching and other alternative delivery modes of education. Since this is an unforeseen happening, most learning institutions are not ready for this transition. This gives birth to a virtual community service project named “e-TuroMo.” In this paper, we describe the e-TuroMo project and assess its relevance. An open-ended questionnaire was distributed to gather feedback from the respondents. The project aims primarily to help schools as they try to shift from traditional classes to online teaching. It offers free services such as webinars for teachers, a course creator account on the e-TuroMo Moodle site, consultation, and technical assistance in establishing a Learning Management System (LMS). Through this project, 51 respondents have created initial online courses as an output of the webinars. Consultation sessions on online course design, delivery, and assessment were provided to some respondents. Two schools availed of technical assistance in the setup of their LMS. The respondents acknowledged the services offered by the project as timely, relevant, and valuable to their work as teachers. Overall, the results showed high admiration and approval for the project. Cost-effective software, efficient structuring of webinars based on literature, and a stable internet connection for both the organizer and participants are deemed essential when implementing a virtual community service project similar to this case

    The Level of Reading Interest and Speed Reading of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Learners: A Correlational Study

    Speed reading is a requisite skill in reading comprehension among adolescent learners. It allows them to process information quickly and meaningfully. Since reading has been a major concern of the Philippine education despite efforts exerted for years, this study aimed to determine whether reading interest itself among adolescent learners correlates with speed reading, particularly grade 11 science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) learners from a private university in City of Koronadal, South Cotabato. A descriptive-correlational design was used in the study, utilizing an adopted survey questionnaire to assess the level of reading interest and a reading comprehension test to assess the speed reading of the respondents. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as weighted mean to describe the level of reading interest; an effective reading rate (EER) to assess speed reading; and a Pearson correlation coefficient (r) to determine the relationship between reading interest and speed reading. It was found that the level of reading interest of the respondents was high; their speed reading was classified as above average; and thus, there was a high positive correlation between the level of reading interest and speed reading among the respondents, signifying that efforts should be made as well toward intensifying love for reading among Filipino learners
