Growth and Productivity of Carrots (Daucus carota) Applied with Bio-Stimulant Solution
Carrots (Daucus carota) is an essential vegetable because of its high beta-carotene (Vitamin A). This study seeks to determine the growth and yield performance of carrots applied with different concentrations of bio-stimulant (BSS). This study was conducted at the University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos, School of Agriculture last December 28, 2023 to March 27, 2024. Eighty (80) carrot seeds (Kaneko Bonfire Variety) were used as planting materials. The seedlings were transferred in polyethylene bags using the Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments replicated four times. The treatments were the Control (no BSS), 10%, 20%, and 30% BSS. The BSS was applied at the plant base 15 and 35 days after transplanting (DAT). The data gathered was analyzed utilizing the STAR 2.1.0 software. To determined the relationships among different characteristics, we used Pearson\u27s Product Moment Correlation Analysis to assess the correlations and associations. The results indicate that plants applied with 30%BSS have an average stem length of 17.79cm, more foliage of 7.95, bigger taproots with 9.28cm, heavier taproots of 32.45gm, heavy stems and leaves at 16.35gm, biomass accumulation of 46.60gm, and average yield of 16,225kg/hectares. The control (0 BSS), on the other hand, has an average stem length of 14.75cm, fewer leaves at 7.10, smaller taproots with 7.59cm, lighter taproots of 16.90gm, the lighter weight of stems and leaves at 10.15gm, smaller biomass acculation of 28.98gm, and lower yields at 8,450kg/hectare. This study recommends the application of 30% bio-stimulant concentration in enhancing the growth and yield performance of the carrot plants
A Biochar-Based Water Treatment System for Barangay Sawmill,Villaverde, Nueva Vizcaya
A comprehensive evaluation was carried out aiming to address water quality issues in Villaverde, Nueva Vizcaya. The research focused on designing and appraising a Biochar-Based Water Treatment System. This review was performed hoping to meet the urgent need for supplying potable water free of contaminants, especially during periods of elevated murkiness caused by heavy precipitation. The foundation of the system relies on utilizing biochar, specifically crafted from coconut husks. This particular biochar is renowned for its remarkable absorptive properties. A treatment system with a flow rate of 250 mL per minute was built using a systematic design process. The efficacy of this system underwent thorough testing, including examining both physical traits and bacteriological integrity. Findings revealed a statistically significant enhancement in water transparency and reduction of microbiological dangers, notably when flow rates were lower. Economic assessments, like breakeven analysis and Benefit-to-Cost ratio, further substantiated the system\u27s feasibility. Over 48 months, it is anticipated the system would recoup initial setup expenses and ongoing operational costs, thus offering a viable and cost-effective choice for the community. Results indicate the Biochar-Based Water Treatment System has ability to supply safe drinking water and provides substantial economic benefits. This system embodies a crucial advancement towards achieving sustainable water management in the Villaverde municipality

The role of research in an academic institution is significant for its sustainability and development, and it is imperative to have knowledge-driven growth based on innovation. The main objec-tive of this dissertation was to find out the factors associated with research and productivity among faculty of higher education insti-tutions in the LSPU System as input to enhancing research culture. Descriptive correlational research method was used to determine the factors associated with research and productivity among high-er education faculty institutions consisting of 232 regular faculty members among four campuses of Laguna State Polytechnic Uni-versity- San Pablo City Campus, Sta. Cruz Campus, Siniloan Campus and Los Banos Campus. The perceived level of self-motivation of the respondents on knowledge and skills, ability and interest, mo-tivation and drive is “very high”; the perceived level of institution-al support system for research among faculty of Laguna State Poly-technic University System on policies and guidelines, promotion and incentives, research program, budgeting, and external sourc-ing/funding is “highly evident”; perceived level of research- work-ing environment, is “very highly evident”; perceived level of re-search productivity for research reveals that the research produc-tivity is “very high”. Faculty’s research productivity is significantly predicted by self-motivation, an institutional support system for research; and the research working environment; teacher’s per-ceived self-motivation mediated with the institutional support system and the faculty’s research productivity; teacher’s perceived self-motivation mediated with the research working environment and to the faculty’s research productivity. ANOVA result revealed that there is no significant difference in the perceptions of the LSPU respondents on self-motivation, an institutional support sys-tem for research, research working environment, and research productivity when grouped according to their University Campus. In terms of the above findings, this study concluded the hypothe-ses stating that the research productivity of the faculty is not sig-nificantly predicted by self-motivation, an institutional support system for research, and the research working environment is not sustained. The faculty self-motivation does not mediate the effect of the institutional support system and research working envi-ronment on their research productivity is not sustained. There is no significant difference in the perceptions of the LSPU respond-ents on self-motivation, an institutional support system for re-search, research working environment, and research productivity
