    Exploring the Relationship Between Job Satisfaction, Workplace Well-being, and Job Performance in an Office Facilities Solutions Service Provider

    This study examines the relationship between job satisfaction, workplace well-being, and job performance in the under-researched office facilities solutions sector. Unlike healthcare or manufacturing, this industry involves routine physical tasks, high client interaction, and varied contracts, yet lacks focused empirical study. Grounded in sustainable human resource management, the research explores how psychosocial workplace factors affect employee behavior and performance. Using a descriptive-correlational design, data were collected from 41 employees via Likert-scale surveys measuring five job satisfaction, three well-being, and six job performance indicators. Results showed all criteria were frequently observed, with mean scores above 3.80. A very strong positive correlation existed between job satisfaction and workplace well-being (r = .991, p < .01). Regression analysis confirmed both significantly predict job performance (R² = .983), supported by a significant ANOVA (F(2, 38) = 1084.44, p < .001). These findings offer novel sector-specific evidence highlighting the importance of role clarity, organizational support, and workplace conditions in boosting performance and morale. For HR managers and leaders, the study underscores the need to implement clear role communication, foster managerial respect, ensure job security, and promote supportive environments to enhance engagement and productivity. Embedding these factors into sustainable HR practices can reduce turnover, prevent burnout, and improve organizational outcomes. Limitations include self-reported data and a localized sample, suggesting future research should use longitudinal and multi-sector designs to strengthen generalizability

    From Repatriation to Medium Enterprise: A Narrative Review of OFW Entrepreneurship and Scaling Barriers in the Philippines

    This narrative-plus-structured literature review examines how repatriated Overseas Filipino Workers in the Philippines move from necessity entrepreneurship to sustainable medium-scale enterprises and where support systems fall short. Sources from 2019 to 2025 were screened for methodological clarity and local relevance, then synthesized across five lenses: finance and cash discipline; governance and compliance; managerial capability and operating discipline; market access and supply-chain linkages; and technology and digitalization. The synthesis finds that while the ecosystem lowers entry barriers for micro start-ups, the pathway to scale remains thin. Lender legibility is uneven. Formalization and e-documentation requirements slow participation in formal markets. Supervisory depth and operating cadence often stall during the shift from founder-run to professionally managed. Accreditation and purchase-order documentation are pivotal for stable demand and financing unlocks. Basic digital tools shorten cycles and reduce errors when integrated into daily work. An actionable bundle emerges: monthly close within 10 days, a 13-week cash forecast, a compliance calendar and approvals policy, onboarding to e-invoicing and digital payments embedded in accounting and order tracking, a buyer documentation pack with on-time-in-full tracking, and supplier-focused coaching to build lender legibility. Moving from micro to medium scale is most likely when these elements operate together. Policy should test this bundle using longitudinal cohorts and quasi- experimental designs. Future research should track adoption fidelity, heterogeneity by sector and region, and lender responses to improvements in documentation and cash discipline

    Service Quality and Student Satisfaction in High School Registrar Operations

    This study examined the relationship between registrar general services, physical setup, and staff familiarity in shaping student satisfaction in a high school setting. Using a quantitative descriptive-correlational design, responses from 264 students were analyzed through mean scores and Pearson’s correlation coefficients. Physical setup received the highest mean score (3.35), followed by staff familiarity (3.09) and general services (2.91). Significant positive correlations were found between general services and physical setup (r = 0.56), general services and staff familiarity (r = 0.34), and physical setup and staff familiarity (r = 0.41). Based on these results, the study recommends infrastructure improvements, empathy-based staff training, and digital service enhancements to foster a more student-centered registrar experience

    Integration of Smart Monitoring Systems in Marine Engineering: A Management Approach to Edge Computing and Sensor Technologies

    This study aimed to investigate how these smart monitoring technologies can be effectively implemented in marine engineering practice through a structured, management-oriented approach. The study utilized a descriptive-correlational approach with the participation of selected 106 marine engineering personnels within the Philippines. The study was focused on human resource and competency development, process optimization, system integration management, and project implementation supervision among maritime companies in the Philippines. The study used various statistical methods to analyze the profile of the respondents and evaluate the identified problems and best practices such as frequencies, percentages, and weighted means. The Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient (r) was employed to test the relationship existing between the level of difficulty and change in the best practices in the four major areas. The results indicated that the project implementation monitoring was the most difficult with the mean of 3.13, whereas system integration management was the least with the mean of 2.42.  The management’s best practices regarding system integration received the highest score of 3.50, which is significant for the technology’s integration effectiveness. Although the issues of human resource and competency development showed weak and insignificant correlations with the related best practices, several other areas, especially system integration management, process optimization, and project implementation oversight, showed stronger correlations This means that when difficulties arise in these areas, the organization will be more willing to adopt flexible, effective best practices to maintain operational performance and promote the successful adoption of technology in maritime engineering operations.

    Technology Utilization in Teaching and the Work Performance of Junior High School Teachers

    This study investigated the technology utilization in teaching and work performance of Junior High School Teachers in Zambales. The findings of the study revealed that the majority of the teacher-respondents are female, in their early adulthood, married, with earned units in MA, Mathematics major, Mathematics teaching load, with adequate years in service, Teacher I, and have attended numerous trainings related to the use of technology. The teacher-respondents perceived the use of ICT in their teaching to be highly utilized. Teachers performed very satisfactorily in their job using ICT in teaching. ICT training attended was found to significantly influence utilization across most dimensions, including planning, monitoring, implementation, productivity, and enrichment. Despite this high utilization and Very Satisfactory job performance, the study found no significant relationship between the utilization of ICT in teaching and the overall work performance of teachers, suggesting that high ICT use alone does not predict superior job outcomes. The proposed model plan has been developed to address difficulties in the technology utilization in the teaching of teachers

    Assessing the Role of Screen Time and Digital Literacy in Student Learning at Learning Circle Inc., Olongapo City

    This research investigated the relationship between screen time and digital literacy of elementary students at Learning Circle, Inc., Olongapo City, Philippines after the excessive use of digital tools brought by COVID 19. A descriptive-correlational type of research design was used with 102 students who were surveyed through Likert-scale questionnaire. Students’ screen time exposure was of a moderate level, with the mean screen time exposure score 2.74 (SD = 0.80). In the aspect of digital literacy, students have an acceptable level with the overall mean 2.85(SD =0.73). Statistically significant differences were found between age and grade when analysed via ANOVA in screen time exposure and digital literacy. In particular, there was a segregation in the adoption of screen time exposure by age (F(8, 93) = 4.058, p < 0.001) and scholarship level (F(5, 96) = 4.683, p < 0.001). However, there was no significant sex difference observed (F(1, 100) = 0.122; p = 0.727). There were statistically significant, positive correlations between screen time exposure and e-literacy (r = 0.710, p-value < 0.001) showing in Pearson correlation analysis.). These results suggest that increased levels of screen time may stimulate the acculturation in digital literacy and call for equitable usage in educational settings. The results of the research have significant implications for educators and policy makers on how to effectively incorporate technology into the classroom as a means of promoting positive amounts of screen time

    The Application of Laozi\u27s Leadership Spirit in Contemporary Higher Education

    This paper examines the application of Laozi\u27s leadership spirit in contemporary higher education, focusing on the practice of integrating Laozi\u27s ideas into teaching and policies, as well as the enlightenment of Laozi\u27s educational philosophy for teachers and students. Employing a qualitative design, an interview with two deans, 10 teacher representatives, and 6 class monitors from the School of Electrical Engineering at Shaanxi Polytechnic Institute of Industry was conducted. The study found that the school effectively integrates Laozi\u27s "governing by doing nothing" via flexible curricula, process-oriented teaching, and relaxed policies. This balances academic freedom with institutional constraints while fostering student autonomy and sustainable development. The areas of Laozi\u27s philosophy inspire self-management through non-intervention, soft communication to resolve conflicts, process-focused learning, and moral modelling, promoting educational harmony

    Optimizing Financial Decision-Making: Use of Relevant Costing Techniques in Manufacturing Businesses in the Philippines

    This study investigates the application and effectiveness of relevant costing among manufacturing businesses in Bulan, Sorsogon, with an emphasis on their impact on business performance. The research specifically assesses the extent to which relevant costing principles—such as identification of relevant and irrelevant costs, incremental analysis, pricing and cost control decisions, investment evaluation, and decision-making under resource constraints—are utilized by local manufacturing owners. Additionally, it examines key business performance indicators including gross profit rate, operating profit rate, and production yield rate, and explores the relationship between relevant costing utilization and business performance outcomes. Employing a quantitative research design that integrates descriptive and correlational approaches, the study surveyed 94 manufacturing business owners from a population of 124 registered entities, with data drawn from official local government records and audited financial statements spanning 2022 to 2025. Descriptive statistics revealed that relevant costing is “sometimes” applied in decision-making processes, with pricing and cost control decisions showing relatively higher utilization compared to incremental analysis and investment evaluation. Business performance analysis indicated low profitability levels, reflected by a gross profit rate of 17.46% and an operating profit rate of 3.75%, while production efficiency, measured by production yield rate, was moderate at 83.57%. Canonical Correlation Analysis established a statistically significant moderate relationship between relevant costing practices particularly in pricing, cost control, and investment appraisal and financial performance indicators.However, the inconsistent application of these practices limits their potential to fully enhance profitability, suggesting that other factors such as market dynamics and operational capabilities also influence business outcomes.

    Extent of Use and Effectiveness of Learner-Centered and Teacher-Centered Approaches Among Senior High School Teachers in Jolo

    This research explored the utilization and effectiveness of teacher-centered (TC) and student-centered (LC) methods in public and private senior high schools LIA Jolo. More particularly, its aims were as follows: (1) to ascertain the extent of usage of TC and LC methods; (2) to explore variations in the usages according to school type; (3) to assess their efficiency; (4) to make comparisons of efficiency by category according both categories of schools and types of teachers profile. All Senior High Schools, both public and private with a census of 139 teachers participated. Surveys were used to collect information about the use of and perception of effectiveness of both approaches. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyse the significant differences on under school type, teachers’ demographic profile. Results show that both LC and TC are widely implemented in public and private schools, however they significantly differ. LC is more common in private schools and TC prevails in public schools. The results also showed that LC is highly preferred compared to TC in terms of perceived effectiveness by the respondents. LC was rated more effective by private school teachers (93) when compared with public schools teachers (46). In contrast, TC did not differ significantly in its effectiveness among public versus private schools. Furthermore, teachers\u27 gender and age were not relevant where the perceived usefulness of both approaches was concerned.

    Teachers’ Readiness in Phonemic Awareness Instructions and the Reading Performance of the Grade II Pupils Zone 4, Division of Zambales

    Before a child learns to read printed materials, they need to become aware of how sounds in words work. Thus, a child needs to be phonemically aware to become a reader. One factor that could be associated with this is the readiness of teachers in phonemic awareness concepts before they teach for the pupils to spontaneously acquire phonemic awareness.   This study of teachers’ readiness in PA (Phonemic Awareness) instructions’ relationship to reading performance of Grade 2 pupils builds upon this body of research by utilizing descriptive correlational research. This study examined further the relationship of the eighteen (18) teacher respondents’ profile and their readiness in PA Instructions which revealed that highest educational attainment variable and attendance to seminars, trainings and workshops focusing on phonemic awareness is moderately associated with their readiness in PA instructions. Participants of the study are 497 Grade 2 pupils from nine (9) schools in Zone 4 Division of Zambales. Results revealed an improvement in the reading performance of the pupil participants, through a PHIL-IRI (Philippine Informal Reading Inventory Test- Oral Reading Test), as a result of highlighted readiness in PA Instructions.   The conclusion that there is a significant relationship of the teachers’ readiness in PA instructions and reading performance of Grade 2 pupils offer important information for teachers, educational leaders and other professionals to conduct professional development activities such as seminars, training, and workshops to ensure that the teachers are updated to the needs of the present generation of learners.
