This research aims to describe the representation of sexual violence against women in the film Vina: Before 7 Days and its impact on public perception, as well as to contribute to filmmakers in depicting sensitive issues. The urgency of this research lies in the importance of increasing public awareness of the issue of sexual violence which continues to increase. The method used is a qualitative approach with semiotic analysis techniques based on John Fiske's perspective, which focuses on the interaction of signs and audiences in a cultural context. The main data consists of scenes in films that show sexual violence, supported by secondary data from news articles and journals. Data collection techniques include non-participant observation, literature study, and documentation, while analysis is carried out using the Miles & Huberman method, which includes data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions using theoretical triangulation. The results of this research show that the film "Vina: Prior 7 Hari" displays two scenes of sexual violence against women, namely harassment in the women's bathroom and rape by a motorbike gang, which is analyzed through John Fiske's semiotic theory, showing the reality of sexual violence, criticism of norms society, patriarchal domination, and social apathy which are reflected in reflective, intentional, and constructionist representations

Perspektif Buddhis Tentang Makanan: Memahami Konsep Halal Dan Haram

    Get PDF
The research examines the Buddhist perspective on food consumption, by exploring the understanding of the concepts of halal and haram in Buddhism. This research was conducted using a literature study approach, by examining Buddhist scriptures and relevant literature such as books, journals, scientific articles, to compare the Buddhist perspective on eating etiquette with the concepts of halal and haram in Islam. The findings show that halal and haram refer to foods that are and are not allowed to be consumed. Although Buddhism does not have specific terms similar to halal and haram, Buddhism has a set of moral and ethical principles that have the same function as the concepts of halal and haram, which guide humanity to determine what is permissible and what is not. Buddhism has the term "bhojana Sappāya" or "supportive food" which can be understood as a food that is suitable for the body, can improve the health of the body, is easy to eat and digest. In principle, Buddhism views the good and bad of a food not only in terms of the content in it, but also includes the way it is eaten and the way it is obtained. Eating should be obtained in a way that does not violate Buddhist morality. Meats that should not be consumed are human flesh (manussamaṃsaṃ), elephants (hatthimaṃsaṃ), horses (assamaṃsaṃ), dogs (sunakhamaṃsaṃ), snakes (ahimaṃsaṃ), lions (sīhamaṃsaṃ), tigers (byagghamaṃsaṃ), leopards (dīpimaṃsaṃ), bears (acchamaṃsaṃ), and hyenas (taracchamaṃsaṃ). Etiquette when it comes to eating has been set out in sekhiyavatta, which allows one to have a polite and respectful way of eating

    Get PDF
This study investigates the representation of mental health issues associated with Buddhist meditation in academic literature, emphasizing English and Indonesian sources from a Global South viewpoint. The research employs a systematic literature review, utilizing subscription-based English databases like Scopus and open-access Indonesian platforms, including Google Scholar, accessed through Publish or Perish. This methodology selects 60 pivotal publications for their citation impact, timeliness, and historical importance. The investigation utilizes Visvanathan's Cognitive Justice framework within the Indonesian Consortium for Religious Studies to rigorously assess the epistemic inclusivity of knowledge systems. The results indicate three notable insights. Buddhist meditation is universally acknowledged across various sources as a fundamental practice associated with mental health discourse. Secondly, both English and Indonesian texts emphasize the interaction between Buddhism as an Eastern spiritual tradition and Western psychological and psychiatric paradigms. Indonesian sources specifically examine the impact of state hegemony on Buddhist meditation, highlighting its designation as a religion under Indonesia's monotheistic framework. The study highlights the socio-political factors influencing sacred and profane tales in Indonesia, especially with state-imposed religious classifications. This research highlights critical insights into the impact of socio-political processes in the Global South on the relationship between Buddhist meditation and mental health

Through a qualitative approach using in-depth interviews with two married couples (Subject 1 and Subject 2), as well as further research through significant others (informants), it was found that happiness in marriage is not only determined by the presence of children as successors to the family, but is more determined by the quality of the relationship, the depth of communication, acceptance of reality, and the meaning of life that is built together in married life. From both couples who participated in this study, a strong similarity was found regarding the purpose of marriage. Although they do not have children, whether due to medical factors or because the process has not produced results, both still demonstrate determination and commitment to building a family that is spiritually prosperous. Injuries caused by stuck arrows are rare but potentially life-threatening, especially when they hit vital organs. This study aims to evaluate the abdominal radiographic examination procedure in cases of corpus alienum, where there is a foreign object (arrow) stuck in the patient. The study was conducted at the Radiology Installation of H. Adam Malik Hospital Medan, using conventional X-ray modalities and image processing with Computed Radiography (CR). The study emphasized the importance of using appropriate projections, such as Antero-Posterior (AP) erect, Antero-Posterior (AP) supine, and lateral projections to ensure accurate diagnosis. The results show that these projections provide optimal images in determining the location and condition of the corpus alienum, which is crucial for further medical treatment. This study makes a practical contribution as a reference in performing abdominal radiography procedures in similar cases and enriches the literature related to radiographic examination in corpus alienum cases

Measuring Educational Justice In The Dynamic Flow Of National Legal Politics

    Get PDF
Legal politics plays a pivotal role in shaping the direction and substance of education policy in Indonesia. This study aims to examine how legal politics influences the development of the national education system and its implications for the principle of educational justice. Employing a qualitative method through literature reviews, the research analysis of legal documents, academic works, policy reports, and statistical data. The findings indicate that, although education policies normatively guarantee the right to education, their implementation continues to reflect disparities in access and quality across regions and social groups. The lack of participatory lawmaking and the absence of evidence-based policy evaluation hinder the realization of substantive justice. Therefore, reform in legal politics is urgently needed—one that is inclusive, socially just, and focused on empowering marginalized communities. This study advocates for long-term legal strategies that transform education into a genuine instrument of social equity and national development
