Development of a Gust Wind Tunnel and Freestream Velocity Distribution Control
Get PDFThe present study has developed a gust wind tunnel with the aim to generate unsteady shear flows for testing micro air vehicles. The wind tunnel has a test section with its cross-section of 0.31mx0.21m and eight fans which can be controlled independently. By changing the output of fans, we obtain a spatial velocity gradient of 5[1/s]. It also has shutter mechanisms to achieve a rapid flow variation in time. Furthermore, the tunnel also generates a longitudinal gust with the velocity acceleration of 26 m/s^2 using the shutter mechanisms.departmental bulletin pape

Get PDF量的緩和は、確率論的にはマネタリーベースに関する確率過程の変更であり、経済学的には投資家に穏やかなインフレ予想を形成させるための金融政策のレジームチェンジである。本稿では、離散時間の枠組みの中で確率モデルを構築し、量的緩和が投資家の物価予想に与える影響について理論分析を行う。また、長期のデータに基づいて、物価とマネタリーベースに関する回帰分析を行う。劣マルチンゲールの収束定理による理論分析の結果は、中央銀行が量的緩和を行い、マネタリーベースの過程が有する収束先の期待値を十分高いレベルに変更すれば、投資家はインフレ予想を形成することを示す。また、回帰分析の結果は、マネタリーベースが物価に与える影響は統計的に有意であることを示す。事例に関する節では、日米の量的緩和の相違点について言及し、日本銀行は政策的一貫性を保ちながら、量的緩和を進めていく必要があることを述べる。最後では、日本の量的緩和が、韓国経済に通貨高およびデフレリスクの上昇をもたらした可能性があることを指摘し、需要の萎縮が進む韓国経済の今後を展望する。departmental bulletin pape
Ken Fry, Member of Parliament (1974–84), and early Australian support for self-determination for East Timor
Get PDFThis paper concerns the history of Australia’s international support for the selfdetermination and independence of East Timor, a former Portuguese colony that was invaded by Indonesia under President Suharto in December 1975 and unilaterally annexed in July 1976. The Australian support mobilized many people and lasted until August 1999, when the popular consultation was held in East Timor following the decision to make it happen by Indonesian President Habibie, who had replaced Suharto the previous year. This article centers on its early phase and a leading activist and public figure, Ken Fry (1920–2007), who served as a member of the Australian Federal Parliament (Australian Labor Party - ALP) from 1974 to 1984. The paper is divided into five sections. The first section explains the importance of this topic. The second, third and fourth sections, respectively, look at lasting tensions between the Australian policy accommodating Indonesia’s annexation policy for East Timor and Australian support for East Timor’s right to selfdetermination and independence during the periods of the Whitlam government (ALP), Fraser government (Liberal–Country), and Hawke government (ALP). The fifth section briefly explains how this Australian support, which had declined due to the Fraser and Hawke government policies, became revitalized in the 1990s when the international community paid greater attention to East Timor. This paper argues that the Australian support made a remarkable contribution to the shift of the Australian policy under the Howard government, including the government’s action of sending a letter urging President Habibie to hold direct negotiations with East Timor leaders in December 1998 and ultimately to the resolution of the question of self-determination for East Timor. It did so by continuingly insisting on the importance of the issue and straining bilateral relations with Indonesia, even making it difficult for the Indonesian president to visit Australia.departmental bulletin pape
Image-based Gait Analysis Person Verification and Attribute Recognition
Get PDFImage-based gait analysis methods proposed by authors' group are described in this paper. Silhouette-based gait features are extracted from gait image sequences, and the extracted features are used for person verification tasks and person attribute estimation tasks such as age and gender. As the gait verification tasks, approaches for issues of view difference, belonging difference, and occlusion are explained. For the view issues, view transformation-based approaches and CNN-based view-invariant approaches are explained. For the issue of belonging difference, joint intensity and spatial metric learning method is briefly explained. And for occlusion issue, subspace-based gait regeneration methods and a WGAN-based silhouette image sequence reconstruction method are explained. Get PDFRecently, research on model predictive control for predicting outputs based on a mathematical model in a microcomputer unit is being conducted to ensure advancements in the field of motor drives; moreover, the applications of current control and speed control have been studied. In this study, we examine the method of applying model predictive control to the sensorless control of PMSM, and compare the results obtained when the prediction target is the motor speed and when it is the magnetic position.
