    Strategies and techniques used to adapt Ukrainian news texts into English

    The article is devoted to highlighting the main trends in interdisciplinary research on contemporary translation studies, focusing on the strategies and techniques used in translating and adapting Ukrainian news texts into English. In the digital era, electronic media are rapidly expanding, reaching an ever-growing online audience. Globalization encourages both the localization of news websites and their careful translation into multiple languages. Ukrinform, Ukraine’s national news agency, plays a central role in this process, providing news in Ukrainian, English, German, Spanish, French, Japanese, and Polish. The study is relevant due to the increasing demand for accurate and culturally sensitive translation of Ukrainian news for international readers, balancing clarity, precision, and expressiveness.Translating Ukrainian news involves both linguistic operations and adaptive strategies to make content accessible, clear, and engaging for non-specialist audiences. These strategies include lexical modification, grammatical restructuring, stylistic adaptation, transliteration, tracing, reduction or addition of information, reorganization, and sentence restructuring. Selection and editing strategies further help reformulate and contextualize information, preserving both accuracy and the expressive, emotional qualities of news discourse. Filtering and transediting tailor content to the expectations of global audiences.These translation strategies overcome linguistic and cultural differences while maintaining reliability, coherence, and overall expressiveness. They ensure that Ukrainian news is both informative and highly engaging, allowing it to resonate with a wide international readership and contribute to a better understanding of Ukrainian perspectives in the global media landscap

    WATER QUALITY IN DRINKING WATER SOURCES IN DNIPROPETROVSK REGION DURING HOSTILITIES

    Military actions in Ukraine have severely affected water sources, mainly due to the destruction of dams, pumping stations, treatment facilities, canals, and the seizure of water infrastructure. These events damaged water supply systems and contaminated drinking sources, reducing reserves in certain areas. The issue is intensified in Ukraine due to the high industrialization of regions near active conflict zones. This study focuses on the impact of war on drinking water in the Dnipropetrovsk region, located 105–150 km from the front line. Further risks to water quality stem from missile attacks, where debris from rockets and drones targeting cities like Dnipro, Samara, and Kamianske may alter the chemical state of nearby aquatic ecosystems. To evaluate water safety, we conducted a p hysicochemical analysis of 16 indicators, including pH, oxidation, alkalinity, conductivity, metals (iron, copper, cadmium, zinc), and nitrogen compounds. Results were benchmarked against national sanitary standards (DSanPiN 2.2.4-171-10, 2010) applicable to well and spring waters. Exceedances of pH and permanganate oxidizability were found in Kocherezhky and Novotroitske villages, while nitrate exceedance was recorded only in Bulakhivka.Water quality classes were determined using DSTU 4808:2007 standards. The poorest quality was in Bulakhivka’s well, where 5 of 13 parameters fell into the 4th class (mediocre), while Kocherezhky’s pump room showed the best quality, with 10 of 13 indicators rated as 1st class (excellent)

    Reducing the volume of solid waste disposal is the main task of Ukraine’s modern waste management system. The significant share of organic fraction in municipal solid waste necessitates the use of effective methods for its management. Among the sustainable methods of organic waste treatment, composting holds a special place. This research is aimed at analyzing the environmental impact of industrial aerobic composting technology on the environment and the quality of the resulting product (compost) based on the results of a pilot project, which was firstimplemented in Ukraine in the city of Lviv. The impact on atmospheric air was analyzed by analyzing the dynamics of pollutant concentrations, measuring noise and vibration levels at the boundary of the sanitary protection zone of the composting station. The impact on water bodies was assessed by recording static and dynamic groundwater levels in a technical well. Physicochemical, microbiological, and antiparasitic indicators and the content of heavy metals determined the quality of the resulting compost. All studies were conducted following standardized methods. The research results were statistically processed using a standard statistical package and compared with the approved standards. It was established that the composting technology does not pose significant environmental risks to the air and groundwater and that the composting product meets the requirements of organic fertilizers. Matured compost is environmentally safe and suitable for use in agriculture. The experience of implementing a pilot project of aerobic industrial composting of organic waste in Lviv can be implemented in other cities of Ukraine to develop sustainable practices for managing the organic fraction of municipal solid wast
