    Ansiedad en adolescentes con alta capacidad intelectual en función del sexo y la edad

    La adolescencia es un período de mayor vulnerabilidad para problemas relacionados con el bienestar emocional y la salud mental. Además, la alta capacidad intelectual es un fenómeno complejo y multidimensional influenciado por diversos factores psicosociales y ambientales y que puede afectar al bienestar emocional en esta etapa. Diversas investigaciones han evidenciado una relación entre la alta capacidad intelectual y dificultades psicológicas como la ansiedad, atribuyéndolo a una mayor intensidad emocional ante situaciones sociales.El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar los niveles de ansiedad en adolescentes con alta capacidad intelectual y la posible influencia del sexo y la edad.El estudio recogió una muestra clínica de N = 162 participantes de entre 11 y 17 años (M = 12,67; DT = 1,47) con diagnóstico de alta capacidad intelectual, de los cuales n = 104 (64,2%) fueron hombres. Los participantes pertenecen al programa de enriquecimiento de la Universidad de La Rioja UR-Talent. Se utilizó la escala de ansiedad Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-Item (GAD-7). Se realizó un Análisis Multivariado de la Varianza (MANOVA) para analizar las relaciones entre el sexo y la edad con la escala de ansiedad.Se encontraron diferencias estadísticamente significativas en función del sexo (λ = 0,91, F (7,152,000) = 2,28, p = 0,03, η² parcial = 0,10), mostrando las mujeres puntuaciones más altas. No se encontraron diferencias en función de la edad (λ = 0,96, F (7,152,000) = 1,02, p = 0,42, η² parcial = 0,05) o la combinación de sexo y edad (λ = 0,96, F (7,152,000) = 0,01, p = 0,42, η² parcial = 0,05).Los adolescentes con alta capacidad intelectual muestran unos niveles de ansiedad elevados que varían en función del sexo. Por ello, resulta necesario implementar intervenciones psicológicas ajustadas a sus necesidades específicas y promocionar el bienestar emocional de este alumnado desde edades tempranas

    The relationship between frailty syndrome and quality of life in patients with hypertension: a multidimensional analysis

    BACKGROUND: Hypertension is a common condition among the elderly and is frequently accompanied by frailty syndrome (FS). The coexistence of hypertension and FS poses significant challenges in patient management and negatively impacts the quality of life (QoL). This study aimed to analyze the relationship between FS and QoL in elderly patients with suspected hypertension. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted involving 201 patients aged 65 years or older, referred to a Hypertension Clinic for diagnostic evaluation. Frailty was assessed using the Tilburg Frailty Indicator (TFI), and QoL was evaluated with the World Health Organization Quality of Life Instrument (WHOQOL-BREF). Sociodemographic and clinical data were collected, and statistical analyses were performed to identify correlations between FS and QoL. RESULTS: The study found that 79.60% of the patients were identified as frail (TFI ≥ 5). FS was significantly negatively correlated with all domains of QoL, including physical health (r = -0.634, p < 0.001), psychological health (r = -0.675, p < 0.001), social relationships (r = -0.528, p < 0.001), and environmental factors (r = -0.626, p < 0.001). Multivariate analysis revealed that physical (β = -0.091, p < 0.001) and psychological components of FS (β = -0.128, p = 0.016), as well as age (β = -0.022, p = 0.004), were significant predictors of lower QoL scores. Loneliness (β = -0.235, p = 0.049) was also a significant predictor of lower QoL. CONCLUSIONS: The study demonstrated a strong association between FS and reduced QoL in elderly hypertensive patients, emphasizing the need for comprehensive assessments and personalized management strategies. Routine evaluation of frailty and the implementation of targeted interventions aimed at improving physical, psychological, and social well-being could substantially enhance QoL in this vulnerable population.     Guts of healthy humans, livestock, and pets harbor critical-priority and high-risk Escherichia coli clones

    OBJECTIVES: In May 2024, the World Health Organization classified carbapenem (CARB)- and third-generation cephalosporin (3GC) resistance (R) in Escherichia coli as a critical priority, whereas colistin (COL) is a "last resort" antibiotic for their treatment. This meta-analysis evaluated the pooled prevalence, high-risk lineages, genetic relatedness, and mechanisms of CARBR, COLR, and 3GCR in E. coli from healthy humans and animals. METHODS: We conducted a systematic review and meta-analyses following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA) criteria on all eligible studies that reported the analysis of E. coli, and antimicrobial susceptibility to CARB, COL and 3GC in E. coli from gut samples of clinically healthy humans, livestock, and pets from June 2014 to June 2024. Random-effect models and conserved signature indels phylogeny 1.4 were used to determine pooled prevalence rates (PPs) and the relatedness of publicly available E. coli genomes, respectively. RESULTS: Of the 5,034 identified articles, 64 studies were deemed eligible. The overall PPs of 3GCR, CARBR, and COLR E. coli were 22.5% (95% confidence interval [CI], 17.5 to 28.3), 2.2% (95% CI, 1.0 to 4.7), and 15.5% (95% CI, 10.8 to 21.8), respectively. The PPs of 3GCR-, COLR- and CARBR E. coli significantly varied by hosts, continent, and year of studies (pE. coli lineages were found, including 13 high-risk E. coli sequence types (STs), within which ST10 predominated. Phylogenomic analyses produced 4 clusters of related CARBR- and COLR E. coli strains (blaOXA-181 from humans in Lebanon, ST617-mcr-1 from pigs in China, ST46-mcr-1 from poultry in Tanzania, and ST1720-mcr-1 from goats in France. CONCLUSIONS: COLR and 3GCR are more frequent than CARBR in gut E. coli. These 10-year epidemiological data highlight the persistence and transmission of critical priority and high-risk E. coli strains in healthy humans and animals, raising significant One Health concerns
