OWNERSHIP STRUCTURE, CEO TENURE ON EARNINGS MANAGEMENT IN VIETNAMESE LISTED BANKS
Get PDFThe primary objective of this paper is to assess how the ownership structure and CEO tenure influence earnings management from 2011-2020. The study employed the panel least-square method for data analysis. The results indicate that private, foreign, and government ownership negatively and significantly impact earnings management. Additionally, the status of CEO tenures exerts a significant increase earnings management, while factors like board size, gender diversity, and firm size do not exhibit significant effects during the observed period. In light of these findings, the study concludes that ownership structure and CEO tenures significantly affects earnings management. Moreover, it recommends that regulatory and supervisory board should closely monitor the activities of bank CEOs, especially after COE' tenures expire, in order to safeguard the interests of shareholders
THE EFFECT OF PROBLEMATIC SOCIAL MEDIA USE AND ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH DEPRESSION AMONG THE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS OF ASSAM
Get PDFThe purpose of this study was to find out the effect of social media use and its relationship with depression among university students. An analysis was carried out to find whether there is a link between excessive use of social media and depression. The study was conducted by purposive sampling of 110 university students aged 18-25 living in the city of Guwahati, India. A quantitative correlational research design was adopted for the study. A questionnaire was developed to obtain Social Media Addiction (SMAS) scores, Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) scores, and demographic information from participants. The study revealed a positive significant correlation between excessive social media use and depression. The results of the Pearson's correlation analysis showed a significant positive association between the scores for social media addiction and depression, with the following values: r =.50, n = 110, p .01. It was determined that more consideration has to be paid to what social media is doing to each individual user given its increasing widespread use. The style of thinking and how information is grasped is changing as a result of the easy availability of social media's limitless communication and interaction opportunities
THE IMPACT OF TEACHING AND LEARNING METHODOLOGIES IN THE COLLEGE OF NURSING GRADUATES’ COMPETENCY: A TRACER STUDY FOR THE S.Y. 2019-2022
Get PDFNursing graduate competency is the ability to complete a task efficiently or successfully. However, it is a brief one that does not fully accommodate definitions. The vast majority would likely concur that competency is a positive trait to something an individual needs a more significant amount. In any case, an individual cannot make somebody more able just by giving them something like information. There is no supernatural competency pill. The term competency should be used and applied to the work setting in a broad scope of relevant circumstances and correct teaching and learning methodologies in any higher educational institution (Dede, 2010). With these concerns, it should be inculcated in most nursing graduates' capacity to apply competently the information, skills, and values that match the needs of their profession, satisfy the demands of the employer, and contribute to the overall attainment of institutional goals in their field of endeavor (Abas & Imam, 2016). Additionally, varied teaching and learning methodologies in the school play an important role in establishing these competencies that were not clearly emphasized and with no alignment as to the most suitable teaching and learning methodologies to enforce competent graduates. GRADUATE TRACER OF THE COLLEGE OF NURSING- EXCERPTS FROM THE PREVIOUS FINDINGS TO PRESENT: A LONGITUDINAL ANALYSIS
Get PDFEducation and training systems have a key role to play in ensuring that ensuring opportunities are provided for all individuals to develop their skills continually in a lifelong learning perspective, enabling them to adapt to rapidly changing labor market requirements and conditions. Graduate Tracer studies are essential for understanding the relevance and quality of programs offered by the universities as well as the labor market. The present study re-evaluated the University of Cebu Lapulapu and Mandaue (UCLM)-College of Nursing's current work status and employment data. Excerpts were taken from the previous tracer study findings by Sanchez and Diamante (2007-2014). Based on the findings, highlights are presented to help improve UCLM-CN’s endeavor. Majority of the graduates (93%) have not pursued graduate studies. This implies that they have not placed importance on continuing education. Emphasis must be placed on the CORE VALUE of UC in the curriculum where research and innovation are needed even as you graduate course. An upward trend of migration to other countries to seek employment was detected. The emphasis on service to the community/community extension must be inculcated in the learning of the students to help control this phenomenon of mass migration. The top training/advanced studies attended after college and relevant to the course are (1) Basic life support (BLS); (2) Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS); and (3) Intravenous Therapy (IV) training. The improve their chances of having these certificates/licenses, the core concepts of these skills must be enhanced. Currently, as viewed by the graduates, the competencies learned in college which is the most useful in the industry are (1) basic nursing skills; (2) communication skills; (3) decision-making skills; (4) human relation skills; and (5) problem-solving skills

Get PDFआज दुनिया के अधिकांश देश संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ के सर्वाधिक प्रभावशाली अंग सुरक्षा परिषद के सुधार एवं विस्तार की मांग कर रहे हैं। विश्व शांति को स्थापित करने के उद्देश्य से 24 अक्टूबर 1945 को संयुक्त राष्ट्र की स्थापना की स्थापना की गईं। विश्व की संपूर्ण जनसंख्या का 17 प्रतिषत भाग भारत में ही निवास करता है। सुरक्षा परिषद में विकासशील देशों का कोई प्रतिनिधित्व नहीं करता है। यदि भारत को सुरक्षा परिषद का स्थाई सदस्य बनना है तो हर एक भारतवासी की यही बड़ी उपलब्धि होगी। प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने राष्ट्र संयुक्त राष्ट्र की महासभा में संबोधित करते हुए कहा कि- बिना व्यापक सुधार के संयुक्त राष्ट्र अपने विश्वसनीयता के लिए संकट का सामना करना कर रहा है । आज दुनिया को ऐसे बहुपक्षीय मंच की जरूरत है जो अपनी वास्तविकता को प्रदर्शित कर सके ,सभी को अपने विचार रखने का अवसर प्रदान कर सकें जिससे मानव का कल्याण हो सके। सुरक्षा परिषद में स्थाई सदस्यता में दावेदारी से पूर्व अपनी अंदरूनी समस्याओं जैसे देश में असमानता, गरीबी ,अशिक्षा मूलभूत संसाधनों की कमी, बेरोजगारी आदि को दूर करना होगा। संयुक्त राष्ट्र का कोई कार्यक्रम तब तक अस्तित्व में नहीं आता जब तक सुरक्षा परिषद उस पर अपनी मुहर नहीं लगाता
COLONIAL HERITAGE AND ECOLOGICAL CONSCIOUSNESS: AN ECOCRITICAL STUDY IN GURNAH’S DESERTION
Get PDFThe ecocritical study of the literature of commonwealth countries explores an in-depth understanding of the relationship between man and nature. It raised awareness among society about the problems with the environment. The present research paper examines Gurnah’s Desertion ecocritically by exploring the conflicting relationship between humans and nonhumans within the environment in colonized Africa. The colonized Africa that was experiencing the destruction of its natural resources under British rule during nineteenth century serves as the backdrop for the African novel Desertion (2005). The British Empire, which enjoyed unprecedented success in the 1800s, was the greatest empire at that time and had a lasting influence on its colonies. The policies of British colonizers helped them in establishing their position and gaining the sovereignty of the natural heritage of their colonized. The colonizers showed a commercial interest in the natural heritage of Africa and plundered it for their monetary benefits. The British domination damaged Africa’s traditional economies. Nevertheless, they contributed a great deal to ecological consciousness with significant advancements such as the introduction of the rules of wildlife conservation and the abolition of the slave trade. Thus, the aim of the study is the ecocritical investigation of the policies of British colonizers and expose how they drove changes in Africa for their vested interests
THE PRINCIPLES OF DEMOCRACY: A CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK FOR LEVERAGING DEMOCRATIC POLARITIES
Get PDFThe polarities of democracy is used to achieve human emancipation by simultaneously managing multiple paradoxes. Johnson’s polarity management is incorporated into the polarities of democracy as the conceptual framework. Although Johnson’s framework may be appropriate for managing other tension-dependent pairs, it is less suitable for managing multiple democratic values when the goal is human emancipation and sustainable democratic social change. Managing multiple polarities is exacerbated by the problem-shifting and problem-creation effect inherent in a tension-driven framework. The aim was to develop a constructivist grounded theory to answer the research question: How can the first principles of democracy be used to reduce dynamic tension and achieve human emancipation? This gap has been filled by a parsimonious conceptual framework based on three democratic principles: human dignity, fairness, and knowledge. The principles of democracy conceptual framework can synthesize the tension between democratic values in order to manage, plan, and evaluate democratic social change initiatives
