Sapere Aude - Dare to know: Narratives and Epistemological Reflections on Science and Tourism Research

The text aims to present, from narratives, epistemological reflections on Science and Tourism research, considering schizo traits of Investigative Travel, as proposed by Baptista (2014, 2020a, 2022). This is an essay-oriented production, which is based on the proposition of Science, which involves research on Tourism, developed with a holistic complex ecosystem character. To this end, the text has as a writing orientation and methodological theoretical framework, a look at the epistemology of Science, with special reasoning from Crema (1989), Santos and Meneses (2009), Santos (2010), and Baptista (2021a, 2022), with an epistemological position in Tourism, mainly from Beni and Moesch (2017) and Baptista (2020b). It develops from a narrative presentation, based on authors such as Martinez (2012), Botton (2016), and Baptista (2021, 2022). Therefore, travel narratives are considered as a device that produces research, from the inscription of the subject as a way of doing science in Tourism, with strategic methodological guidance from Cartography of Knowledge by Baptista (2014, 2020a). As a result, there is a look beyond Kant's illuminist motto (1985), with searches based on Horacio's Latin lyric poetry (Salema, 2013). In this way, the confluence of the perception of Sapere Aude is understood as a dynamic of contemporary scientific production to think about Science and Tourism, from a production matrix that 're-cognizes' and 're-connects' knowledge and practices, as it perceives that the research subject is a subject on an investigative journey, and the traveling subject is daring, courageous, daring. Therefore, juxtaposing these two subjects makes it possible to think of science from a potentiality of self-recognition and the reconnection of knowledge, through new epistemes, considering movement and travel as essential marks of the production of subjects, places, and Science.   CITE THIS PAPER: Silva, Renan L.; Baptista, Maria L. Proposing a New Framework of Entrepreneurial Education and Intention in Indonesia: The Modified Theory of Planned Behaviour

Education contributes to more individual confidence and the ability to choose and make the right decisions while increasing creativity and innovation and fostering morals, character, and intellect. The variety of universities in the preparation and implementation of entrepreneurship programs makes concerns about those. This conceptual paper studies the practices of entrepreneurial education dimension toward the elements of the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB). The proposed framework aims to analyse whether the practice of the entrepreneurial education dimension consisting of curriculum, teaching methodology, and university role affects the behavioural characteristics of TPB which includes attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioural control further affecting students' interest in entrepreneurship. Another objective of this conceptual article is to provide an alternative framework for the entrepreneurial education dimension and its effect on each variable in the theory of planned behaviour. Overall, there are six hypotheses proposed by the researchers in this conceptual article. The recommended method to test the conceptual framework is the structural equation model analysis where mediation variables are applied. The validity test shall use confirmatory factor analysis while the reliability test uses Cronbach's Alpha. This article suggests further research for empirical testing by collecting data from respondents, i.e., students in universities which then shall be analysed using a structural equation model.   CITE THIS PAPER: Hadi, Antonius S.; Sentosa, I.; Wahid, Rosni A. Advice-Guide to Teen’s Parents: Therapists’ Suggestions to Improve the Bond

Despite the social and cultural changes, adolescence always appears as an evolutionary cycle full of controversies, rebellions, confrontations, provocations, idealization, and de-idealization. This period of great hormonal revolution and abrupt growth of a child's body also implies relational conflicts with the environment and relationships, mainly with the closest ones: the parents. The present article shows the synthesis of 80 interviews with therapists from Buenos Aires and Great Buenos Aires. They were asked about what would be their five main advice to teenagers’ parents who want to improve the relationship with their sons/daughters. The advice was manually selected and reunited in 35 tips forming a guide with explanations of each one.   Cite this paper: Ceberio, Marcelo R.; Nicolás, Florencia; Elgier, Angel; (2022). Weave of Knowledge: Sensitive "Com-Versations" for the Science of the New World

The present text has an essayistic character, with the proposal to present the theme Weave of Knowledge: sensitive “com-versations” for the Science of the New World. In this sense, it is guided by the thematic proposition and develops the narrative as sensitive “com-versations” between various studies carried out in the South of Brazil, intertwining with researchers from other Brazilian universities and more than 10 countries. The essay corresponds, especially, to theoretical-reflexive conversations, which give orientation to the dimensions: Weave of Knowledge and conversations, with an epistemological-theoretical, ecosystemic-complex-schizoanalytical approach. In this way, it instigates to understand and reflect on scientific signs for the New World, an expression used to represent the becoming, what is to come, in the contemporary scenario, due to the grandiosity of large-scale mutations, for Science, the Coexistence and the possibility of Survival on (and of) the Planet. In methodological terms, the production derives from the association between two authorial methodological strategies: Cartography of Knowledge and Rhizomatic Matrices, which allow the opening to produce Complex and Sensitive Science and, at the same time, for the maturing of the systematization of qualitative data. There is also an association with the assumption that the investigation results from a kind of investigative journey, an investigative journey, and that its result is, in this sense, a travel narrative, with characteristics of sensitive autotranspoietic narratives.   Bilingual Publication: The original version in Portugues is available in the PDF file

The Reverse Side of Tourism in the Craftsmanship of “Com-Verse”

The general objective of the present research is to propose flags of the Reverse side of Tourism in the Craftsmanship of “com-verse”. It is noteworthy that the proposal Reverse side of Tourism deals with the intention to consider the underlying plot of Tourism understood as Tourism-Weave-Ecosystem, arising from transdisciplinary propositions, guided by assumptions of contemporary science, ecosystem and complex, being in constant movement and reinvention. Craftsmanship corresponds to the proposal of production oriented by craftsmanship. This perspective is marked by a mode of production with some singularities, linked to the idea of careful and personalized production, using existing resources, with a close link between producers and consumers, and without a close link with production technologies. The proposal of this text is related to the production of “com-versations” with residents of Torres/RS, methodologically oriented by the confluence of the Epistemology of Journalism and the Ontology of Conversation, by Maturana (1988), in addition to the methodological strategy Cartography of Knowledge (Baptista, 2014), which also guides the development of the research. The theoretical-conceptual tracks are composed of the understanding of complex Science, holistic and ecosystemic, with authors such as Capra (1997; 2020), Morin (2005), Crema (1989), Santos (2003), Deleuze and Guatarri (1995). Regarding the universe of knowledge in Communication, Medina (2006), Marcondes Filho (2008) and Lima (2009) stand out; in relation to the universe of knowledge in Tourism, the authors: Beni and Moesch (2017), Gastal (2002), Yázigi (2001) and Baptista (2019; 2020a; 2020b). The idea of Craftsmanship is guided, mainly, by the understanding of “producing to live” (Santos, 2002). In association with the “com-versations”, it proposes a reflection on the production of knowledge and practices, in this case, tourism. Also, as a result, the importance of “com-versaitions” places and subjects for the development of Tourism guided by ecosystem responsibility, considering its characteristic plot and (re)cognizing its reverse side as potentiality, stands out.   Bilingual Publication: The original version in Portugues is available in the PDF file

Investment Decision-Making under Covid-19 Pandemic Pressure Based on Demographic Variables

The covid-19 Pandemic has made many people work from home to have much time to trade in the capital market. Through the "Yuk Nabung Saham” program, Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) tries to introduce the capital market to young investors through a partnership with the university. This study aimed to analyze the effect of demographic variables (age, gender, and experience) on investment decision-making through risk perceptions and risk attitudes in the Indonesia Stock Exchange under the Covid-19 pandemic pressure. Used SEM-PLS analysis with Mediation effects, 160 Surabaya’s Investors as respondents analyzed. This study showed that age, gender, and experience affect investment decision-making through risk perception and risk attitude. In the Covid-19 pandemic, market conditions were very dynamic and erratic, resulting in investors' perceptions and risk attitudes changing, thus changing their behaviour to become more speculative and reactive to take advantage of the market. Students’ respondents were currently young investors who may not yet have mature financial capabilities, so they had behaviour with a high psychological bias. But in the next ten years, these investors would have grown into professional investors who strengthened the Indonesia Stock Exchange.   CITE THIS PAPER: Surya, Mohammad T. A.; Ady, Sri U. (2022). Memory and Belonging of the Manauara Population: Flags From the Ponta Negra Beach Complex

Manaus, the capital of Amazonas (Brazil), is a city that is not bathed by the sea, but there are still freshwater beaches on the banks of the Rio Negro, the most famous being Ponta Negra beach. The place, in addition to serving as a bath for tourists and residents, is also a complex that involves the sale of local products, a playground for children to have fun, an amphitheatre, a hiking trail, and a skating rink, being frequented by people of all ages, sex and social status. Therefore, the general objective of the study involves the analysis of the feeling of belonging and the memory of the Manaus population, based on signs resulting from the link with Ponta Negra beach. As specific objectives, we seek to present historical aspects of Praia da Ponta Negra, reflect on the memory and belonging of the manauara[1] population in relation to the beach and describe if there is a feeling of belonging and bonding of the manauaras with the Ponta Negra beach. The methodology of the research can be classified as transversal, qualitative and quantitative in its approach. The objectives are exploratory and descriptive, and the object of the study is a non-probabilistic sample, where the data collection will take place through direct observation, in addition, the field research will be carried out within the manauara population with questionnaires via open and closed interviews. This study found that there is a feeling of belonging and that people have strong memories concerning the place, shaping a little of their personality and experience with each other.   [1] Manauara is the name given to those born in the city of Manaus, capital of Amazonas, in northern Brazil.   Bilingual Publication: The original version in Portugues is available in the PDF file

Impact of Human Development Indicators on Child Mortality: The Case Study of Iran

The mortality rate of children under the age of five is of particular importance, as it is often related to the general level of health and living standard condition of the household in the society. The study aimed to investigate the effects of the Human Development Index on public health with particular reference to the under-five mortality rate in Iran. As a method a descriptive-analytical method including ordinary least square regression analysis was used to identify the causal relationship between the human development index and the under-five mortality rate during the period of the study (1987-2017) in Iran. The results show that there is a negative and meaningful relationship between the human development index (HDI) level and the under-five mortality rate. Moreover, the control variables including inflation rate, unemployment rate, and income distribution inequality index showed a positive and meaningful impact on the under-five mortality rate. Given that human capital is considered the engine of economic growth and development, it can be concluded that any increase in health expenditures through improvements in human capital inventory leads to increased economic growth, increased life expectancy, and decreased under-five mortality rate

ZISWaF Institutional Approach to Activate Idle Agricultural Land as a Catalyst for the Agro-Food Sector in Malaysia

In various efforts to strengthen the agro-food sector, development on idle land is one of the keys to achieving it. Neglect of idle land is a waste that needs to be well managed to mobilize all resources properly and produce crop yields to the maximum level. Therefore, this paper will discuss the factors that lead to the occurrence of idle land and finds a solution from a Malaysian perspective. Referring to this problem, it is seen, through the institutional approach, that it is capable of being one of the best alternatives because institutions are a set of rules that affect human economic life. Through an institutional approach, it can apply the ZISWaf management recommended by previous Islamic scholars divided into four schemes to activate idle agricultural land with proper coordination. This paper is using qualitative methods based on data and information from the literature review and then it is analysed based on a deductive approach. As a result, the ZISWaf institutional approach can realize the concept of implementing the agro-food Waqf institution to solve the issue of idle land.     CITE THIS PAPER: Mohamed, Muhammad I.; Mohd Shafiai, Muhammad H.; Hilmi, Mohd H.
