ANN Based Equalization using Coded Inputs in Nakagami-m Faded Channel
Equalization is often used in wireless communication to mitigate the effects of Inter Symbol Interference (ISI). The Artificial Neural Network (ANN) has been a preferred tool for performing equalization to reduce ISI. This work describes the use of ANN and coding to improve performance of an equalizer, designed to tackle fading effects of Nakagami-m channel. Improvement in performance has been shown for coded transmission over uncoded one in Nakagami-m channel with ANN based equalization

ACADEMIC FREEDOM (AF) AND TEACHING AND LEARNING (TL) IN UNIVERSITIES IN NIGERIA
The research was conducted to determine the impact of the exercise of academic freedom of lecturers on teaching and learning in tertiary educational institutions in Nigeria. 110 lecturers from eleven universities selected from the northern, eastern, southern and western parts of Nigeria as well as federal, state and private made up the sample for study. The Two research questions posed and two hypotheses formulated were answered and tested respectively. A questionnaire titled AFTeL was used to collect data. Analysis of data revealed that lecturers exercised academic freedom to a large extent but ii has some negative impact on teaching and learning. Based on the findings, the researcher recommended that Academic Freedom should continue to be encouraged but that there should be strict enforcement of professional ethics and lecturers checked to remove the negative impact
Survey of E-Governance Systems with focus on Development Approaches and Interface Quality
There has been a significant growth of e-governance systems in general and online voting systems in particular. Various models have been proposed to conceptualise and develop these systems. Attention is currently on developing adaptive interfaces that respond intelligently to changes in user profiles. These models differ in many aspects, but no formal classification or comparative study is available as yet which may be used as a reference for researchers engaged in this area. This paper surveys the plethora of existing approaches and models for e-governance and presents a comparative evaluation based on certain qualitative parameters. These parameters have been selected based upon their criticality in e-governance applications. They include security, interoperability, authentication, flexibility, extensibility, privacy, adaptability, transparency, verifiability and robustness. The classification provides a common platform to glean knowledge about the strengths and weaknesses of different models, gain a quality-based comparative evaluation and build upon specific research directions

The study investigates tourist’s motivationstrategies with a segmentation approach in order to give an understanding of the theory of motivationstrategies in general and the motivation factors influencing consumer decision making in a tourism context in particular. The research findings identified two tourist segments based on motivationstrategies , referred to as “Traditional Tourists” and “Nightlife and Positive Recommenders”, with social and intellectual motivationstrategies found as the strongest motivations .Based on the findings of the study, some policy recommendations are given to the local tourism marketers and managers in order to develop the local tourism industry appropriately

Optimal Placement of Distributed Generation Resources
Recent developments in the electric power and problems arising from construction and maintenance of large power plants have raised a great deal of interest in distributed power generation (DG). Distributed generation units due to specifications, technology and location network connectivity can improve system and load point reliability indices. In this paper, the placement and sizing of Distributed Generators (DG) in distribution networks are determined using optimization. The objective is to improve the reliability indices. The placement and size of DGs are optimized using a Genetic Algorithm (GA). To evaluate the proposed algorithm, the IEEE 34 buses distribution feeder,is used. The results illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method.
Active & Reactive Power Control Of A Doubly Fed Induction Generator Driven By A Wind Turbine
Wind Energy is gaining interest now-a – days as one of the most important renewable sources of energy due to its ecofriendly nature. But the major disadvantage lies in variable speed wind generation and this paper gives a study on control of Wind driven doubly fed Induction Generators. The speeds above and below Synchronous speeds are obtained using a bidirectional power flow converter. By using this reactive power is controlled and hence the overall Power factor of system can be kept at unity under varying load conditions. . This paper presents simulation results of a Grid-connected DFIG. A switch-by-switch representation of the PWM converters with a carrier-based Sinusoidal PWM modulation for both rotor- and stator-side converter has been proposed. Stator-Flux Oriented vector control approach is deployed for both stator- and rotor-side converters to provide independent control of active and reactive power and keep the DC-link voltage constant. A 7.5 KW generator is designed and its effectiveness in controlling is verified in different operating conditions i.e. above and below synchronous speeds
Implementation of Digital Signal Processor to Control Three-Phase Voltage-Source Inverter
This paper explores the advantages and implementation of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) TMS 320F2812 to generate gate pulses. The main features of this DSP are elaborated. The technique to obtain gate pulses in different pulse width modulation methods in order to control three-phase voltage source inverter is explained systematically. The steps needed to develop the program are highlighted in detail to control frequency and the duty cycle of PWM waveform. Further Fabrication of gate driver circuit is presented. Experimental results of three-phase voltage source inverter controlling ac drive in variable voltage-variable frequency mode are also given
High Efficiency DC-DC Converter for Low PV Voltage Sources
A high efficiency DC-DC converter for low PV voltage sources has been proposed in this paper. The proposed converter converts the low dc voltage to a high dc voltage with a high-efficiency. The proposed converter uses the active clamping circuit and voltage doubler rectifier in order to achieve a high step-up ratio and soft switching operation. The output diodes are turned off at zero-current, which can significantly reduce the switching power losses at high output voltage applications. A high-efficiency of 97.5 % is achieved to generate 350V high output voltage from 36 V low PV module voltages which can be connected to grid tie for ac application
