Through my practice, I learn about the connections between my contemporary art, traditional craft practices (hand-building, beading, etc.), and my identity as a queer Puertorican woman. Using this knowledge, I create works informed by my emotions, personal history, symbolization, and Puerto Rican culture. Motion to Art: The Intersection of Body Capture and Interactive Digital Media
No full textResoFlow is an interactive installation that captures participants' body motion through webcam-based pose estimation and transforms gestures into dynamic, fluid visualizations and responsive soundscapes. Real-time skeletal tracking is achieved via the PoseNet model in ml5.js, integrated within a p5.js creative coding framework. Joint coordinates drive a fluid particle system flowing through a Perlin noise – based vector field, generating colorful, decaying motion trails that reflect user movement. Simultaneously, audio parameters are mapped to wrist positions, modulating volume, playback rate, and stereo panning to create an ambient, interactive sound environment. Developed through iterative prototyping and refined in a gallery exhibition, ResoFlow emphasizes intuitive cause-and-effect interactions, requiring no traditional controllers. No full textWhen borders shut, Gaza's small economy stalls. This study asks how the Hamas-Israel conflict changed the flow of aid that keeps shops stocked and people working. I pulled monthly truck counts from the UN, spending totals from big charities, market prices for flour, fuel, and wages, and clinic reports, then compared the year before the fighting with the months after it. Trucks fell from about 450 to under 80 a day, aid money dropped by half, Food and fuel prices jumped almost forty percent, and one in three clinics closed each week; a brief January – 2025 cease fire reversed much of that, showing the change is driven by the border, not by lack of goods. Accessible Architectural Intervention In Public Space
No full textThe outdoor dining structure was an ad-hoc response to the COVID-19 pandemic that for 5 years populated the street parking spaces of New York City. Historically restaurants were not permitted to seat customers in the roadway, but with indoor seating disallowed, they built themselves crude structures out of accessible, low-cost construction materials.
Outdoor dining structures provide a template for a more transformative intervention in the use of public space. They represent private interests recontextualizing public space for a new, semi-public use. In New York City, space comes at a premium you don't see anywhere else, with all usable space and then some being populated by business, transportation, and parking. A chance to reclaim this space is rare, especially when it's for something other than generating revenue. Who is allowed to reclaim public space?
