Phenomenological insights into children\u27s experiences: The transition to preschool

Children’s transition to preschool has significant theoretical implications, especially regarding the expectations formed by parents and teachers, which often raise concerns. The purpose of this study is to explore children’s experiences during the transition to preschool, understand their perceptions, emotions, and interactions, and identify factors that support a positive adaptation. This qualitative study used a case study to explore the transition of preschool children in Malaysia, focusing on forming social relationships. The research methodology involved observation, interviews, and photography over eight weeks, highlighting the importance of listening and understanding children’s voices to support their social and emotional adaptation to a new environment. The results showed that rules and routines played a significant role in helping children adapt to preschool, contributing significantly to their academic, social, and cognitive development. The transition process was enriched by event-based activities such as birthday parties, which were fun and important in teaching social skills through collaboration and shared celebration. This study highlights the importance of designing child-centered educational activities that educate, inspire, and engage children, helping them feel valued and an integral part of their preschool community. The contribution of this study lies in emphasizing the importance of rules, routines, and event-based activities in supporting children’s adaptation to preschool. These findings provide guidance for educators in designing child-centered educational programs that enhance academic, social, and cognitive development while strengthening children’s sense of engagement and belonging within the preschool community

Analysis of migrant teachers\u27 life experiences in early childhood education in Canada

This study explores the lived experiences of migrant early childhood education (ECE) teachers in Canada, emphasizing their contributions to cultural and linguistic diversity as well as the challenges they face in professional integration. With Canada’s diverse population and increasing number of migrant educators, understanding their experiences is essential to support inclusive educational practices. The study investigates how migrant ECE teachers contribute to multiculturalism and multilingualism in classrooms, enhancing children\u27s social, cognitive, and cultural development. Despite these positive impacts, migrant teachers encounter obstacles such as credential recognition, language barriers, and systemic biases, which hinder their professional integration and potential contributions. Utilizing qualitative methodology, semi-structured interviews were conducted with nine migrant educators representing diverse cultural backgrounds. The findings of this study suggest that systemic barriers hinder the full integration of migrant educators into Canada’s early childhood education (ECE) system despite their significant contributions to cultural and linguistic diversity. Better recognition of their credentials, increased professional support, and more inclusive policies are needed to maximize their potential and reflect their experiences well in Canada’s ECE system. The contribution of this study is to identify and highlight systemic barriers that hinder the full integration of migrant educators into the Early Childhood Education (ECE) system in Canada. The findings call for better credential recognition, increased professional support, and more inclusive policies to maximize the potential of migrant educators and ensure their experiences are well reflected in the Canadian ECE system. This study contributes to proposing changes that can help address these inequities and increase diversity and inclusion in early childhood education in Canada

Development of pop-up book media based on heroic values in madrasah ibtidaiyah

The problem addressed in this study is the lack of innovative learning media that can effectively instill heroic values in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah students. Conventional methods often fail to engage students or connect values with daily experiences. Therefore, there is a need to develop pop-up book media that is attractive, interactive, and value-oriented to improve character education. This research aims to develop innovative learning media in the form of a Pop-Up Book based on heroic values for Madrasah Ibtidaiyah students. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE development model which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. The research results show that the Pop-Up Book media developed is valid and suitable for use in learning with a validity level of 88%. Implementation on 13 class V students at MI showed a positive response with an acceptance rate of 86.15%. This media not only increases students\u27 interest and understanding of the subject matter, but is also effective in instilling moral values such as courage, sacrifice and patriotism. Teacher training in the use of this media is very necessary to optimize its use in the learning process. This research contributes to the development of innovative learning media by demonstrating that Pop-Up Book media is both valid and effective in improving student engagement, understanding, and moral values. The findings highlight its potential as a practical tool for character education in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, while also emphasizing the importance of teacher training for optimal classroom implementation

Application of the wordwall application in social studies learning to develop independent character in elementary school students

Student independence in elementary schools is still considered low because many students rely on teachers to learn and more brilliant friends to work on questions. The culture of cheating when working on exam questions reflects that students lack confidence in their abilities. This study aims to provide an overview of using the Wordwall application as a learning medium for Natural and Social Sciences in developing the independent character of elementary school students. The researcher used a descriptive qualitative research method with data from interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that using the Wordwall application can increase student engagement with interactive features that can increase learning motivation and provide a more enjoyable experience than conventional methods. In addition, Wordwall contributes to forming an independent character by encouraging students to learn autonomously through instant feedback, allowing them to explore answers and understand concepts without relying on teachers or friends. This application also fosters learning discipline by helping students manage time, follow instructions consistently, and improve critical thinking and problem-solving skills through trial and error mechanisms. However, for its use to be more effective, Wordwall must be combined with other learning strategies, such as class discussions and problem-based projects, and integrated with a broader pedagogical approach to ensure that independent and disciplined characters can be internalized in students\u27 academic and social lives

Innovation in mathematics learning through discovery learning and flashcard media in elementary madrasahs

Mathematics learning in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah often faces significant obstacles due to a lack of interest and motivation in learning among students. This is often associated with using traditional and less interesting teaching methods, which do not meet students\u27 basic psychological needs. The purpose of this study is to develop innovation in mathematics learning through the application of discovery learning and flashcard media to enhance concept understanding and student engagement in elementary madrasahs effectively. To overcome this problem, this study used qualitative methods and purposive sampling to select respondents according to the study\u27s needs. Data were collected through passive observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation techniques, which were then analyzed using an interactive analysis model. This process facilitated an in-depth evaluation of the impact of using the Discovery Learning model supported by flashcard media. The results of this study indicate an increase in student engagement and motivation with the implementation of the Discovery Learning model and flashcards, characterized by increased interaction during learning sessions and a better understanding of mathematical concepts. Based on these results, it is recommended that educators integrate interactive and student-centered teaching methods, such as Discovery Learning, to increase engagement and motivation in learning mathematics. This study contributes by demonstrating that integrating Discovery Learning with flashcards enhances student engagement, motivation, and conceptual understanding in mathematics. The findings suggest that interactive, student-centered approaches can improve learning effectiveness and serve as practical strategies for educators in fostering active and meaningful mathematics learning experiences
