    Implementation of Tafsîr Ûlul Albâb in Indonesian Islamic Education

    Islam views the holy book as not only regulating matters of worship which are vertical between servants and God. The holy book is also seen as a guide for humans in managing all world affairs, including the world of education. The development of Islamic education today, directly or indirectly, often links its vision to the formation of the ûlul albâb generation (QS. Ali Imran; 190-194). Even though the vision is the same, the implementation of Islamic education often appears to vary. Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia exist in the form of pesantren, boarding schools, madrasah, and also schools. So what is meant by the ûlul albâb generation and how is Islamic education implemented in producing the ûlul albâb generation? This research is intended to find out the views of commentators regarding the meaning of ûlul albâb and at the same time to describe the models of Islamic education that have developed to date in Indonesia. This research is library research and the methods used are the maudlu'i (thematic) interpretation method and the qualitative descriptive method. Based on this research, it can be concluded that ûlul albâb is a self-image that combines academic qualities, spirituality, and charity. In this perspective, Islamic education is a process of improving the quality of humanity in its various dimensions, namely making scholars who believe and do good deeds. To achieve this goal, Islamic education in Indonesia is developing an integrative education model, namely institutional integration and curriculum integration

    Legal and Political Policy in Preventing of Money Politics: Case Study and Recommendations

    Money politics has damaged the democratic system throughout the nation; handling the problem of money politics is not enough to be charged to law enforcement and all elements of society. The seriousness of the government and political parties in tackling the problem of money politics can be done by legal and political means. The results of this study show that political policies in preventing money politics in the 2019 elections in Banyumas Regency where political parties have made several efforts in at least three ways: 1) implementing pacta integrity and providing debriefing to cadres and legislative candidates. 2) All parties tend to follow only the existing rules, especially those issued by the KPU and Bawaslu. 3) It turns out that all parties do not require this, relating to the competency requirements of legislative candidates that are more stringent, intellectual, managerial skills, experience, and morality. Legal policies in the prevention and handling of money politics have carried out prevention strategies through legal policies, namely prevention at the level of legislation policy and judicial policy. In contrast, the execution policy has yet to be well realized

    The Emergence of AI and ChatGPT: Implication for Religion Sustainability in Africa

    The swift development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, including the conversational AI tools like ChatGPT, has had a profound impact on several industries, including business, education, and communication. ChatGPT provides creative ways to preserve holy writings, teach religion, and make spiritual counselling more accessible. It also has special religious ramifications, especially in Africa where religion is closely linked to social identity and unity. This study examines how AI and religion sustainability connect in Africa, stressing both the advantages and disadvantages of using AI into religious rituals. These tools encourage inclusivity and involvement, particularly among younger generations. Their adoption, however, presents moral questions, such as the possibility of misinterpreting religious doctrine, the commercialization of spirituality, and challenges to established religious authority. This study critically investigates how AI shapes worldviews and religious experiences, drawing on theoretical stances such social cognitive theory. It makes the case for a well-rounded strategy that preserves the holiness and integrity of religious traditions while embracing the advantages of AI. The study adds to the continuing conversation on maintaining religious significance in a time of rapid technology advancement by highlighting culturally appropriate implementations and cooperative efforts among engineers, religious leaders, and legislators

    The Role of the Church in Low-Income Housing in Namibia

    The paper examines the church's role in Namibia's low-income housing process. The study followed the qualitative method; data were drawn from journals, books, newspapers, and other relevant material. The article argues that the church in Namibia plays a positive role in low-income housing and promotes Sustainable Development Goals. The findings reveal that the church established a foundation for the current Shack Dwellers Federation of Namibia, an umbrella body of savings groups that address housing issues for low-income groups. The church plays a significant role by building houses for the poor, donating materials, and helping low-income communities alleviate poverty. The study supports participatory planning efforts in housing, highlighting that the church and faith-based organizations have a place in promoting Sustainable Development Goals, particularly goals 1, 2, and 11. It augments literature in religious studies, the built environment, and sustainable urban development by investigating the church's role in housing provision. In contrast, most studies focus on the church’s involvement in politics, culture, and socio-economic development. The study will benefit stakeholders who want to contribute towards goal 11 (Sustainable cities and communities). Additionally, the contribution will grow as the research serves as a novel contemporary reference for future studies in the same field

    The Nature of Environmental Violence in Climate Change: Considering the Perspective of Muslim Civil Society in Banyumas

    The multi-impact environmental damage that has an impact on climate change is the result of the lack of equitable distribution of utilization and control of resources due to the hegemony of power and authority forcing people to exploit nature. Poor environmental governance, which later became a source of crime and suffering for the community, was dominantly the result of the behavior (violence) of the authorities rather than the community’s low awareness and literacy. In Banyumas, climate balance is also an essential issue. This study aimed to find answers to whether the Young Muslim Civil Society in Banyumas has concerns about climate change and its governance. The UNICEF survey in 2021 stated that the younger generation in Indonesia has empathy for environmental governance. This study was field research with a sociological approach through the paradigm developed by Jamil Salmi about violence maps; direct violence, indirect violence (violence by omission), repressive violence, and alienation violence. To map their views, I collected 304 randomly selected samples for filling out a questionnaire based on direct validity and test-retest reliability indicators. According to the discourse of young Muslim Civil Society in Banyumas, this study indicated that repressive violence was an essential part of the nature of environmental violence in climate change. The Young Muslim Civil Society in Banyumas was overwhelmed with worries, which should encourage them not to let state administrators put forward desertion in responding to the global challenge; climate change

    The Palestinian-Israeli Conflict in the Memory of the Past the Jewish Nation: From Holocaust to Holocaust

    This paper explores the dynamics of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict through the perspective of Jewish history and collective memory, with a particular focus on the Holocaust as a point of departure. Through a history of civilization approach and collective memory analysis, this paper explores how the traumatic experience of the Holocaust has shaped the identity, politics and narratives of the Jewish people to influence their views on the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. It reveals how the memory of the Holocaust is not only an integral part of Jewish identity but also plays a role in shaping the policies and strategies adopted by the state of Israel. Holocaust memory is often used to justify defensive and offensive actions to sustain the Jewish state amidst external and internal threats. In this context, the "From Holocaust to Holocaust" narrative reflects the transformation and continuity of collective trauma used as a legitimization and mobilization tool in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. This paper uses historiographic methods and narrative analysis to identify recurring patterns of thought and feeling within the Jewish community and how these patterns translate into political action. It also highlights the role of critical actors, both political and intellectual, in shaping and articulating these narratives. The results of this paper are expected to provide deeper insights into the complexity of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and how history and collective memory play an essential role in the dynamics of this conflict

    Exploring the Belief in Resurrection of the Me’enit Ethnic Group in Ethiopia

    This study examines the resurrection myth among the Me'enit ethnic group in southwestern Ethiopia. It examines their belief in a place called Mouu, which was created by the deity Tuma and where people live on after death. The study aims to deepen our understanding of the Me'enit cultural and spiritual worldview by examining the origin and persistence of their belief in resurrection. The methodology involves a combination of primary and secondary data collection and analysis. Primary data was collected through interviews, focus group discussions and participant observation within the Me'enit community, while secondary sources were analyzed for additional context. The data was thoroughly analyzed using narrative theory to identify themes and patterns. The findings shed light on the unique resurrection beliefs and practices of the Me'enit, emphasizing the ongoing presence of the resurrection myth and the importance of Mouu in their belief system. This study contributes to the understanding of the Me'enit ethnic group and their myth and offers insights into their beliefs and practices related to resurrection

    Did Christ die only for the Elect?: Limited Atonement vs. Unlimited Atonement

    Almost all Christians believe that the satisfaction rendered by the death of Christ was in itself enough for the salvation of humanity. Yet, there is no consensus among Christians on the question of the beneficiaries of Christ’s atoning sacrifice. The question of whether Christ’s suffering and death benefited all humanity or only an elected few has triggered much debate among Christian scholars. The different responses to the question of the extent of the atonement can be categorized broadly into two, namely; particular atonement (that is, the view that Jesus Christ died only for the elect) and universal atonement (that is, the idea that Christ died for all persons). The significance of the debate and the rise in interest in this subject in recent times has prompted this literature-based research which critically reviews and analyzes publications (including books, journal articles, and dissertations) on the extent of Christ’s atonement to see how one might make meaning of the ongoing debate. The paper first presents a survey of the evidence adduced for both views; it then considers Calvin’s view on the subject and ends with the author’s position that the atonement is unlimited in scope in that the offer of salvation is for all people; yet it is limited in effect because only those who believe in Jesus are truly saved

    Islamization of Science in the Era of Society 5.0: Study of al-Attas' Thought

    This article intends to examine and examine the idea of the Islamization of contemporary science, especially in the era of society 0.5 in the view of Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas. The use of descriptive methods with a philosophical approach is used for this research. By interpreting various sources, since the birth of the idea, the Islamization of knowledge has become an attraction for Muslim scholars. Al-Attas dared to express an opinion contrary to the western term not to deify science (science). This idea is relevant to the current conditions where people's lives and science are supported by technology that the West mainly creates. The science currently developing is much out of Islamic values and brings disaster to humans. Hence, the importance of human awareness is to return to religion and not deify knowledge so that excessive fanaticism arises

    Literacy Activities at Islamic Boarding Schools in Banyumas Regency in the Perspective of Gordon Wells

    Research on literacy activities at Islamic boarding schools is important because in terms of scientific development, learning at Islamic boarding schools is not only related to religious education but other knowledge including soft skills. This has significance in terms of accusations that Islamic boarding schools have significance for radicalism thinking because education is only focused on religious issues. The purpose of this study is to describe art and literacy activities in Islamic boarding schools throughout Banyumas Regency. The theory used is the literacy model of Gordon Wells which includes performative, functional, informational, and epistemic aspects. This research method is descriptive qualitative. The results showed: 1. There are 196 Islamic boarding schools in Banyumas Regency which are divided into 27 sub-districts; 2. Forms of literacy activities in Islamic boarding schools throughout Banyumas Regency include sermons, writing literary works, writing scientific reasoning, and acting; 3. Literacy levels in Islamic boarding schools throughout Banyumas Regency: performative relates to the reading and writing skills of Latin and Arabic pegon scripts, functional relates to the ability to bilingual between Javanese Ngapak and Indonesian, informative is the ability of the students to analyze information from readings and lectures, and epistemic in terms of creating new literacy both in the field of literature and acting which originates from the learning proces
