The Happiness in a Digital World – The Associations of Health, Family Life, and Digitalization Perceived Challenges - Path Model for Abu Dhabi: none
The digital revolution influenced all levels and spheres of human social activities covering personal communications and relationships, health and mental health, and hours spent online. However, the widespread implementation and effects of digital technologies amongst all segments of society have not been understandable. The effects touch all aspects of life, be it personal, social, or economic, touching people's happiness positively or negatively. This research is the first attempt in Abu Dhabi to look at the impact of digital transformation and the associations of other aspects of people's life. The objective of this study is to propose a path model for better understanding the degree of association of related behaviors related to digital transformation and people's happiness. An extensive literature search identified several related wellbeing dimensions for this study. We used the Abu Dhabi Quality of Life data for this purpose. Pre-analysis included correlation analysis, simple and multiple regression, factor analysis, and reliability analysis to test the appropriate variables. The final path model portrays the functional relationship between significant factors, with happiness being the ultimate variable. The dimensions of influence covered satisfaction with family life, subjective health, mental and related feelings, number of hours online, the perception of the positive impact of digitalization on society, and the perceived negative influence of digitization. Using LISREL, we designed and analyzed a reflective path model that produced significant fit statistics. Results show that we should not ignore the significant positive association between the digital resources/means in society and our happiness or health. However, results also point to the perception of the negative impact of digital transformation on how we feel and behave daily. The hours we spend online also add to our negative daily feelings. The nature of our satisfaction with our family life seems to influence our negative mixed feelings about digital practices and habits. The strong association between our overall happiness and subjective health produced the most significant association. Limitations and policy implications are discussed
Local Wisdom of Natural Resource Management in Communities Around the Mine in Central Halmahera Regency
The main problems of this research include two things, namely: (1) what local wisdom is related to the management of natural resources owned by the mining circle community in Central Halmahera Regency, and (2) how is the existence of the local wisdom of the mining circle community in managing natural resources? nature in Central Halmahera Regency. This study uses a qualitative approach that collects through document studies (literature review), observations (observations), and in-depth interviews. Research informants are people who live in the mining area which are determined by purposive sampling based on their knowledge and experience related to the research topic. The data collection locations were in the Central Halmahera Regency area covering two sub-districts, namely North Weda and Central Weda Districts. The results of the study show that the communities around the mines in Central Halmahera Regency classify natural resources based on where or where the resources are located, namely resources that are on the mainland. In managing these various natural resources, communities around mining have various traditions that can be seen as a form of local wisdom. The entry of the mining industry into Central Halmahera Regency has no more positive impacts than the negative effects it produces. Mining companies are seen by residents as 'giants' that destroy water sources that are vital for residents' lives so that they can no longer be used. In its development, the presence of mining companies, especially PT. IWIP, influences the existence of local wisdom in the communities in the study locations related to the management of their natural resources
Groundwater Vulnerability Study to Traditional Gold Mine Processing Pollution Using SYNTACS Method and GIS Approach
Groundwater vulnerability study research conducted in Paya Ateuk Village, Pasie Raja District uses the SINTACS method. This method is an overlay method that combines 7 primary maps, namely soil texture maps, infiltration maps, slope maps, groundwater depth maps, rock unit maps, aquifer lithology maps, and hydroulic conductivity maps. Then the results of the assessment on the primary map parts are multiplied by the weight on the SINTACS classification and the results are combined into 1 groundwater vulnerability overlay map. The results of the map overlay produce 822 sections that have a range of groundwater vulnerability values ??at a score of 103.75 – 201.5 with low to high classification. Karst hill areas generally have moderate vulnerability values. Whereas in the lowlands with residential land use has a high vulnerability. This is due to the flat slope with sandstone, and moderate infiltration. Besides that, the texture of the soil is large and the depth of the groundwater is shallow. So that contamination on the surface can easily affect the quality of water in groundwater. Meanwhile, the groundwater vulnerability value is high in a narrow area with the use of paddy fields. Based on measurements of the quality of groundwater in wells owned by residents, it shows that the groundwater in the research location is of good quality. This is due to the large number of natural phytoremediation plants around the research area. Although the quality of groundwater is in good condition. The government as the policy maker still needs to regulate and provide official permits for traditional gold miners who are classified as illegal and continue to monitor the environment around traditional gold processing areas
