Analysis of Holistic Evaluation Model Implementation in the Islamic Education Curriculum at Islamic Higher Education Institutions
This research departs from the problem of the less than optimal application of a comprehensive evaluation model in measuring the success of the Islamic education curriculum in Islamic universities. The existing evaluation still focuses on academic achievement, while the moral, spiritual, and character building aspects of students have not been adequately assessed. This condition causes the goal of holistic Islamic education has not been achieved as a whole. This research was conducted in three universities, namely STAI Al-Hikmah Medan, STAI Al-Hikmah Tebing Tinggi, and STIT Al-Washliyah Binjai, with the aim of analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of the implementation of the CIPP holistic evaluation model in each dimension—Context, Input, Process, and Product. The results showed that synergy between dimensions is the key to successful implementation of this model. When the context and input are strengthened and the learning process runs effectively, the educational outcomes are not only academically superior, but also shape the character and spirituality of students according to Islamic values. The implications of this research emphasize the need to develop an evaluation system that is oriented towards the balance between intellectual achievement and the formation of moral-spiritual values, so that Islamic universities are able to produce graduates with integrity, ethics, and contribute positively to society.
Character Education for Islamic Boarding School Students through the Living Qur'an Approach Based on Technology Integration
Islamic boarding schools in this era of transformation are required to maintain traditional values while adapting to technological developments. This condition encourages the need for educational innovation that not only emphasizes memorization but also the internalization of moral values based on the Qur'an. The Living Qur'an approach is relevant because it emphasizes the appreciation and practice of Qur'anic values in the lives of students. This study analyzes the integration of technology in the application of Living Qur'an as a moral education strategy at the Tahfizil Qur'an Islamic Boarding School of the North Sumatra Islamic Center Foundation. The method used is descriptive qualitative through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. The results show that the use of digital media such as memorization applications, online platforms, and social media can increase the effectiveness of moral values internalization, strengthen spirituality, and motivate students to practice Qur'anic teachings. The integration of technology creates adaptive and contextual learning without losing the authenticity of the Islamic boarding school. This study recommends the development of policies and teacher training based on Islamic values to optimize the role of technology in moral education through the Living Qur'an approach
Multicultural Approach in Islamic Religious Education Curriculum as an Effort to Strengthen Content of Tolerance and Religious Moderation
Indonesia, as a multicultural country, faces serious challenges in maintaining social cohesion due to the increasing potential for conflicts based on intolerance. Islamic Religious Education, which has tended to be normative, is considered to be less than optimal in fostering religious moderation. This study aims to analyze the development of Islamic Religious Education materials based on multicultural values to strengthen religious tolerance and moderation, as well as to examine the role of teachers and school culture. The research uses a qualitative approach with a multisite study design at Panca Budi High School and Darussalam High School. Data collection was conducted through observation, in-depth interviews, and document studies. The results show that the integration of multicultural values into the curriculum and Islamic Religious Education materials is carried out systematically by emphasizing the social dimensions of Islam and applying contextual and dialogical learning strategies. Teachers act as agents of moderation who build an inclusive classroom climate, supported by a school culture that affirms the value of diversity through institutional policies and practices. These findings reinforce multicultural education theory and offer a model for developing an Islamic Religious Education curriculum that is adaptive to the realities of a pluralistic society and relevant to teachers and education policymakers
Synergistic Model of Parent and Teacher Collaboration in Character Education at Islamic Based Schools in Medan City
Character education is a fundamental aspect in shaping students' personalities, but its effectiveness greatly depends on the synergy between parents and teachers. This study aims to analyze effective synergy models in character education at Al-Ulum Private High School and Jabal Rahmah Mulia Boarding School in Medan. This study uses a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis to explore communication patterns, parental involvement, and collaboration challenges. The results show that participatory communication, family support, and a conducive social environment are key factors in successful synergy, which has a positive impact on improving student discipline, responsibility, and honesty. Teachers play the role of murabbi who instill morals, while parents reinforce values at home. The main obstacles include parents' time constraints, differences in perceptions of character education, and the influence of the social environment. This study produced a synergy model based on the Indonesian socio-cultural context that is adaptive to Islamic values and the realities of urban families. The implication is that schools need to strengthen collaboration with parents through digital communication and moral values-based parenting programs to strengthen student character building

Integrative Model of Religious Habituation in Building Students Religious Character
This study addresses the challenges of Islamic vocational education in developing students’ religious character alongside professional skills. At SMK Al-Azhar Batam, religious habituation strategically instills values such as discipline, honesty, trustworthiness, courage, self-confidence, love for Islam, and noble character within vocational activities. The research aims to understand the role of religious habituation in character development, examine values reflected in vocational practice, describe the internalization process, and identify supporting and inhibiting factors. Using a qualitative case study with interviews, observations, and documentation, the study finds that internalization occurs through six continuous stages: value planting, habituation, vocational integration, teacher modeling, internalization, and cultural embedding. Success depends on school commitment, teacher role models, program regularity, and facilities, while obstacles include students’ motivation, diverse backgrounds, external influences, and a demanding curriculum. The study implies the need for family-based, integrative strategies and alignment of religious values with vocational practice to sustain character internalization
Islamic Education Strategy Based on the Integration of Local Wisdom for Developing Students Spiritual Character
Islamic education amid the tide of modernization faces serious challenges in the form of weakening spiritual character and the disconnection of religious values from the local cultural context. This condition calls for an educational approach that is not only normative, but also contextual and rooted in local wisdom. This study aims to identify the Islamic educational values contained in the Sedulur Papat Limo Pancer philosophy and analyze strategies for integrating them into the spiritual character development of students in Nagori Maligas Bayu. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method and a philosophical-contextual analysis of the Sedulur Papat Limo Pancer concept, combined with an Islamic educational perspective. The results show that the Sedulur Papat Limo Pancer philosophy contains Islamic educational values, including purity, sincerity, gratitude, empathy, responsibility, discipline, moral courage, respect for parents, and balance in life. The integration of these values in Islamic education has implications for strengthening the spiritual character of students holistically through a reflective, dialogical, and locally-based approach. This study emphasizes the importance of local wisdom as a strategic resource for the development of relevant and sustainable Islamic education
The Construction of Independent Character Education from the Perspective of Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah
The development of the digital age and globalization has posed serious challenges to the character building of the younger generation, particularly in terms of weakening independence, self-regulation, and spiritual resilience. Cognitive-oriented education is considered incapable of responding to the crisis of dependency, instant culture, and the increasing degradation of values. This study aims to reconstruct the concept of independent character education according to the thoughts of Ibn Qayyim al-Jauziyyah and analyze its relevance in the context of contemporary Islamic education. This study uses a qualitative approach with a figure-based study type based on library research. Data were obtained from the primary works of Ibn Qayyim al-Jauziyyah and relevant secondary literature, then analyzed using thematic content analysis techniques. The results show that, according to Ibn Qayyim, independent character education is built holistically through gradual education, exemplary behavior, habituation, simplicity of life, utilization of time, and spiritual control through muhasabah, with tauhid and tazkiyatun nafs as the main foundations. Independence is understood as the freedom of the soul from worldly dependence and lust. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of integrating spiritual values into Islamic character education so that the formation of students' independence is transformative, sustainable, and relevant to the challenges of modern education
Augmented Reality as an Interactive Medium for Understanding Qur’anic Verses on the Phenomenon of Rain in Islamic Education Learning
Students’ understanding of kauniyah verses in the Qur’an, particularly regarding the phenomenon of rain, is often limited because the information presented is general and lacks integration with scientific explanations, resulting in varied interpretations. This study aims to develop an Augmented Reality (AR)-based learning media to visualize the process of rainfall based on QS. An-Nūr verse 43 and QS. Ar-Rūm verse 48. Support from tafsir ilmi and the water cycle theory is used to comprehensively understand the meaning of the verses. Students in the Information Systems Study Program are required to connect Qur’anic verses with scientific phenomena, but conventional media limit effective learning. The AR application, developed using Unity, Vuforia, and Blender, displays 3D animations of evaporation, transpiration, condensation, and precipitation phases. The development follows the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) method, ensuring a procedural, interactive, and user-friendly approach. Testing results show that the application runs stably and effectively enhances understanding of the relationship between the verses, their interpretation, and natural phenomena in a contextual manner, implicating AR as an innovative model to enhance Qur'anic science literacy and digital learning experience
Determinants of Islamic Religious Education Teachers Performance in Relation to Motivation, Professional Competence, and Gratitude
Teacher performance in Indonesia is often influenced by internal factors such as work motivation, professional competence, and gratitude, which play crucial roles in learning effectiveness. However, the balance between psychological, professional, and spiritual aspects in improving teacher performance has received limited attention. This study aims to analyze the differences, relationships, and effects of work motivation, professional competence, and gratitude on teacher performance. The research employed a quantitative approach with both descriptive and inferential analyses, including t-tests, Pearson correlations, and multiple linear regression. The respondents consisted of 70 teachers from various educational levels in Indonesia. The findings indicate that all four variables fall into the high category. There is no significant difference based on gender, but there are significant differences based on education level, rank, and salary. Regression analysis shows a simultaneous influence of 48%, with gratitude emerging as the most dominant factor (β = 0.401). These findings highlight the importance of maintaining a balance between spiritual and professional dimensions in enhancing teacher performance. The implication is that educational institutions should strengthen teachers’ competence, motivation, and spirituality
