Gastronomic tourism: Documenting local knowledge of Baye-Baye making in the Municipality of Santa Barbara
Abstract onlyThis study investigated the opinions of baye-baye makers and vendors in Barangay Cabugao Sur, Santa Barbara, Iloilo, regarding history, challenges, and involvement. This study specifically aimed to determine the perceptions of history, challenges, and involvement of baye-baye makers and vendors in Cabugao Sur. The qualitative research design was adopted, and purposive sampling was used to select 20 respondents who are baye-baye makers in Santa Barbara with at least 10 years of experience, residents of Cabugao Sur, male or female, and at least 45 to 75 years of age. The study’s instrument was a semi-structured interview in which participants were asked open-ended questions. The study also utilized Focus Group Discussions in delving into their answers. The results showed that the most challenging problems the respondents have faced in business are financial and economic challenges, climate change, and personal reasons. Vendors have been financially challenged to sustain their businesses as prices have increased. Extreme heat made the products spoil easily thus increasing their prices. Furthermore, it is physically demanding because most vendors are elderly and cannot produce as much baye-baye as they used to. Government intervention has also helped these vendors promote their products. Additionally, the Baye-baye Festival was created to promote and recognize the original makers who had shaped their local industry today. Focusing on how a local delicacy builds the community also points to how food can bring people together through sharing gastrointestinal experiences. Moreover, it is recommended that innovation of products, increased government intervention, and production promotion should be strengthened.Bachelor of Science in Tourism Managemen

Teachers' implementation of guidance and counseling roles: Knowledge, attitude, and practices
Abstract onlyThe study conducted in the northern part of Palawan focused on assessing the knowledge, attitude, and practice of homeroom teachers regarding their guidance roles. The research methodology employed a descriptive-correlational design to explore these aspects. A total of 146 homeroom teachers participated as respondents. In terms of data analysis, descriptive statistics such as frequency count and percentage were utilized. For inferential analysis, the Chi-square test, along with phi and gamma values, was applied. These statistical methods were used to identify relationships and associations between different variables. The significance level for the statistical tests was set at 0.05. The findings in the relationship between knowledge and attitude stated that homeroom teachers with fair to good knowledge have a favorable attitude, while those with very good knowledge exhibit a very favorable attitude toward their guidance role. Next, the relationship between attitude and practice revealed that homeroom teachers with fair to good knowledge tend to have very good practice of their roles, while those with very good knowledge exhibit excellent practice. Then, the relationship between knowledge and practice showed that homeroom teachers with fair to good knowledge tend to have very good practice in their roles, while those with very good knowledge exhibit excellent practice. The data analysis did not reveal a significant relationship between teachers' knowledge of their guidance role and their attitude toward it, nor between their knowledge and practice. However, there is a significant relationship between the teachers' attitude toward their guidance role and their actual practice of it. In summary, the study suggests that while there might not be a direct correlation between knowledge and attitude, knowledge and practice, a strong positive attitude among homeroom teachers toward their guidance role significantly influences their effective practice of it.Includes bibliographical referencesMaster of Science in Guidance and Counselin

The design, fabrication, and assessment of a vertical axis wind turbine blade for electricity generation at a low wind profile
Abstract onlyWind energy is a fast-growing clean energy source. The technology has significant challenges on account of the unpredictability of the wind source. Small-scale wind turbines are becoming a less popular option when wind conditions are favorable; yet, they have tremendous potential, especially during weather and seasons when it is not possible to generate solar energy. This study utilizes a design of a two-stage, two-blade with one-fin Savonius wind turbine. The assessment of this study was held on the premises of the Central Philippine University Wind Tunnel Research, Development, and Testing Laboratory, testing the electricity generation of the designed wind turbine at a low wind profile. The Turbine is equipped with its own 6 18650 Lithium ion batteries to store the harvested energy for it to be used in the future. Two trials were conducted to ensure the consistency of the data. It was concluded that the turbine at 2.2 m/s can produce 1.9 volts or 0.5 watts. At 3.6 m/s the solar charger that was used started operating at 5.55 volts or 6.0495 watts. This is sufficient enough to charge a mobile device. The trial ended at 5.3 m/s garnering 9.415 volts or 36.3419 watts. The calculated coefficient of power resulted in 70.69%Includes bibliographic referencesBachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineerin

Wind tunnel state monitoring system with external terminal control for Central Philippine University
Abstract onlyThe Philippines has been hit by destructive typhoons in recent years, prompting the Department of Science and Technology to establish a wind tunnel facility to test the resiliency of structures to varying wind speeds. However, the current wind tunnel lacks a measuring system for parameters, limiting its capability to serve as a proper facility for wind energy research and wind study. A system for capturing data using appropriate sensors is necessary to enhance the wind tunnel's use and capability for testing objects' reaction to specific wind speeds. This setup requires two or more individuals which operate the VFDs and acquire data, which can be inconvenient. By centralizing the controls, the wind tunnel can be operated by a single person, making the operation more efficient and practical. To address the absence of a measuring system’s Wind Tunnel Facility, an Arduino-based measuring and monitoring device was created. The device centralized control by using an external terminal control for the Variable Frequency Driver, allowing for control of the wind tunnel's motor using a variable resistor and pushbuttons. Three sensors were used to measure different parameters, which were displayed on a P10 LED matrix, allowing for the monitoring of the wind tunnel state and adjustment of the VFD frequency in the control room. The system and device are detachable, maximizing the facility's efficiency and functionality by allowing it to operate with or without them.Includes bibliographical referencesBachelor of Science in Electronics Engineerin
