Lived experiences of private duty nurses in caring for terminally III geriatric patients
Full text availableThis study explores the lived experiences of private duty nurses caring for terminally ill geriatric patients. The aim is to understand the nurses' experiences in greater depth, including the challenges and rewards they face. Additionally, the researchers want to identify factors that influence the quality of care provided. The population of older adults is growing, and there is a corresponding increase in the demand for geriatric nursing care. Private duty nurses play a vital role in providing care for terminally ill elderly patients in their homes. However, little research has been done to explore the experiences of these nurses. The research employed a qualitative approach, using in-depth interviews with private duty nurses. Participants were female registered nurses (RNs) between the ages of 25-60 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree and at least two years of experience caring for terminally ill geriatric patients who were conscious and bedridden. Thematic analysis was used to identify emerging themes from the interview data. Thematic analysis revealed three main themes. Challenges of caring for terminally ill geriatric patients: Nurses described emotional challenges, such as dealing with the patients' and families' grief, as well as physical challenges, such as providing hands-on care for immobile patients. Rewards of caring for terminally ill geriatric patients: Nurses also reported feeling a sense of accomplishment from providing comfort and support to patients and their families at the end of life. Factors influencing the quality of care: Nurses identified factors such as strong communication skills, collaboration with other healthcare providers, and access to adequate resources as essential for providing quality care. This study contributes to a better understanding of the lived experiences of private duty nurses caring for terminally ill geriatric patients. The findings can inform the development of educational programs and support systems to better equip nurses for this role and improve the quality of care provided to terminally ill elderly patient.Includes bibliographical referencesBachelor of Science in Nursin
Iloilo La Paz batchoy: A historical analysis
Abstract onlyBatchoy has become a popular gastronomic attraction, contributing to the growth of culinary or gastronomic tourism. Batchoy, also known as La Paz Batchoy, is a type of noodle soup that is said to have originated in the La Paz district of Iloilo City. It is a hearty dish that is composed of various ingredients including chicken stock, pork entrails, crushed chicharon, beef loin, and local noodles called miki. This research study aimed to analyze the historical origins and evolution of Iloilo La Paz Batchoy. Purposive sampling was used which included four (4) batchoy business owners in Iloilo City who have been in business for more than 10 years, aged 18-50 years old. This study utilized a qualitative research design through in-depth interview with the use of validated researcher-made questionnaire. Findings reveal that origin of the Lapaz Batchoy's unique flavor dates back to 1938, when the great-grandfather, a butcher, conducted some experiments with pig innards. With just PHP 10.00 when it started out in 1945, the company has prospered up to this day. The tale recounts the evolution of the firm, starting with Domingo Lozada, acknowledged as an Outstanding Pioneer in Batchoy Food Products. After several setbacks along the road, the project grew from a college canteen in 1978 to the Central Market. This study holds significant value for the local government of Lapaz, Iloilo, community, academe and future researchers, providing them comprehensive knowledge to understand the historical origin of Iloilo's remarkable dish.Includes bibliographical referencesBachelor of Science in Tourism Managemen
Proposed design of a three-storey municipal fire station in Alimodian, Iloilo
Abstract onlyA fire station that adheres to standard requirements ensures the efficient operation of fire protection services by providing well-designed facilities for rapid response, and public safety. However, the existing fire station is plagued by inadequate facilities, no apparatus bay, and an unsuitable site, which hinders operational efficiency and does not meet current structural, safety, and sustainability standards. This project study focuses on the proposed construction of a 175 sq. m three-storey fire station in Alimodian, designed to accommodate the firefighters and the required facilities ultimately aiding them in times of emergency. Its features include spacious fire truck bays for quick deployment, administrative offices for seamless coordination, living quarters that ensure readiness, and training rooms to prepare firefighters for the unexpected. By incorporating modern green building technologies, architectural design and adequate facilities, this project aims to create a sustainable and supportive environment for our heroes. Moreover, the structure was designed using the provisions of the Ultimate Strength Design (USD) method and the National Structural Building Code of the Philippines (NSCP) 2015. The estimated cost is Php 18.379,624.87 which will be funded by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) with an estimated completion of 240 days. It is recommended that it shall be implemented as soon as possible, checked further against the appropriate design, conduct their own geotechnical investigation, and once the structure is completely operational, safety and security devices such as fences, CCTVs, and other appropriate security measures should be installed.Includes bibliographical referencesBachelor of Science in Civil Engineerin

The researcher is a student of Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management in the Central Philippine University (CPU), Jaro Iloilo City which undergone “ON THE JOB” training at MENRO, LGU, New Lucena. The Municipality encountered, in its initial stage, hardship and become their basis element on bringing into completion the letter program for solid waste management. The Municipality has its own garbage practices before the mandate of this program was implemented. These innovating practices are not so much of managing all the waste but in selective form only. It is timely that they come to focus in the issues-problems and appropriate innovations to connect their wrong practices regarding on generated waste. They have come up endless initiatives hoping that their efforts will eventually serve its purpose. Comprehensive performance testing and evaluation of the CPU wind tunnel
Abstract onlyThis research paper focuses on the comprehensive performance testing and evaluation of the newly built Central Philippine University (CPU) wind tunnel, which is the first and only closed vertical loop main duct wind tunnel with a rectangular cross section of 2.4 x 2.0 meters and a total combined center length of 27 meters in the Philippines. The study aimed to test the upper limit of maximum overall wind speed, rate of temperature change, and heat generated during the wind tunnel operation and establishes recommendations for improving the wind tunnel's performance. The team faced multiple obstacles and technical difficulties during the initial testing and construction, such as the instability of data-obtaining processes and electronic sensors' resolution problems. Still, the researchers were able to gather data and establish recommendations to improve the wind tunnel system. The findings of this study could contribute to future researchers, engineers and professionals, and institutions seeking to develop and conduct tests in wind tunnels. The recommended improvements include adding a debris trip system, establishing a heat map system, reducing air leakages, adding instrumentation port systems, performing more testing required parameters, establishing an effective heat exchanger, and adding an emergency shut-down button for safety purposes.Includes bibliographic referencesBachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineerin
