Preparedness and compliance of jeepney drivers in Iloilo City in light with the PUV modernization program

Full text availableThis study aims to determine the preparedness and compliance of jeepney drivers in Iloilo City regarding the PUV modernization program, utilizing an inferential correlation research design. From a population of 200 Jeepney drivers at Tagbak Terminal, 133 were selected using Slovin’s formula through purposive sampling. Descriptive analysis, including mean and standard deviation, was employed. Results show that most participants 63.7% were aged between 40-59 years, and 71.1% of drivers do not own the vehicles they operate. Despite varied daily incomes, the majority exhibited only a somewhat unprepared level for the program, indicating deficient knowledge and readiness. Similarly, compliance with the PUVMP was generally lacking, attributed to distrust in the government and perceived unaffordability of transitioning to modern jeepneys. While there was no significant difference in preparedness and compliance based on age, ownership, and daily income, a strong correlation existed between preparedness and compliance. This suggests a need for increased awareness and support for drivers to comprehend the program's implications and foster compliance. More importantly, it will help open the eyes of the government of the prevailing issue. It could greatly affect the lives of these traditional jeepney drivers since they do not have the financial capacity to cover the cost of a modernized jeepney and if they join a cooperative, their monthly salary will not be enough to sustain the needs of their families.Includes bibliographical referencesBachelor of Science in Psycholog

Full text availableThis qualitative study explores the experiences of fourth-year student nurses from a higher education institution in Aklan engaged in online role-playing. Utilizing a narrative inquiry, the research involved six participants who underwent in-depth interviews. The analysis employed Connelly and Clandinin's (1990) narrative inquiry tools: broadening, burrowing, and restorying. The findings reveal four (4) themes: emotional experience, learning through flexible option, appreciating synchronous role-playing, and facing challenges. Online role-playing emerged as a flexible and effective learning method, enhancing critical thinking, communication, and empathy skills, despite initial emotional challenges and technical issues. Participants valued the immediate feedback from instructors, which improved their confidence and practical abilities. Although it lacks the hands-on practice of face-to-face clinical interactions, online role-playing remains a viable alternative learning tool for student nurses.Includes bibliographical referencesMaster of Arts in Nursin

The driving factors of rural households' clean energy consumption and intentions: Inputs to a green business framework

Journal articleThis research determined the driving factors of rural households’ clean energy consumption and intentions as inputs to a green business framework. The study employed a secondary research from China Rural Energy Consumption Survey (2021), involving 1892 rural households from 19 provinces, 488 counties in 276 cities in China. The results revealed that there were significant relationships between the human, social, economic, and accessibility dimensions of households and their energy consumption. It was observed that households with higher human capital may enjoy "high-quality at low cost". Access to clean energy and its associated costs were significant determinants of clean energy consumption expenditure, with proximity to supply points positively impacting consumption. Based on the findings a green business framework is proposed that can serve as inputs to formulate appropriate green business strategies in terms of green product design, marketing strategies, financial strategies, promotion education, social responsibility, and cooperative mechanisms to encourage and support the adoption of clean energy by rural households, government, enterprises and society.Central Philippine Universit

Abstract onlyThis study aimed at determining the effects of emotions management and self-efficacy training in cultivating resilience among agriculture students. In this study, a quasi- experimental research method employing a pre-test and post-test control group design was adopted. The respondents of this study were agriculture students in a vocational and technical college in China during the academic year, 2023-2024. The instruments used in this study included a program of emotional management training and self efficacy training, as well as assessment tests that determined students' pretest and posttest scores to indicate their level of resilience. The assessment test used to determine students’ resilience level was a standardized resilience test scale developed by Hu and Gan. Various statistical analyses were performed on the collected data that included frequency count, percentage analysis, mean values, standard deviations, t-test for correlated samples, t-test for independent samples, and One-Way Analysis of Variance. The students who received emotions management and self-efficacy trainings had a low level of resilience in pretest but had high level of resilience in posttest. The findings of this study showed that before the emotional management and self-efficacy training, there were no significant differences in the level of resilience between the control group and the experimental group. The students who received emotions management and self-efficacy trainings had a low level of resilience in pretest but had high level of resilience in posttest. There were significant differences in the pretest and posttest performance between the control group and the experimental group. Furthermore, there was a significant difference in the mean gains among the three groups. The mean gains of the two experimental groups (emotions management training group and self-efficacy training group), were significantly higher than the control group. It is therefore, concluded that the two trainings are effective in cultivating resilience among the participants.Includes bibliographical referencesDoctor of Education major in Guidance and Counselin

Youth leadership and performance of Sangguniang Kabataan Officials in Iloilo City

Abstract onlyThis inferential study aimed to determine the level of youth leadership and performance among Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials in Iloilo City. Quantitative data were gathered using a one-shot survey which was distributed to all SK officials from 23 randomly selected barangays in Jaro district. The survey measured the perceived level of leadership and self-reported performance of SK officials. The findings revealed that SK officials scored high levels of leadership effectiveness and performance in general. However, when grouped by sex, length of service, and level of education, there was no significant difference in leadership or performance between male and female officials. Officials with more than six years of experience demonstrated significantly higher leadership effectiveness than those with shorter tenures. This pattern was also shown in self-reported performance, with experienced officials performing better than others. Contrary to original expectations, there was no substantial difference in leadership effectiveness related to educational attainment. College graduates had slightly poorer self-assessed performance than high school graduates and college freshmen. The study is pertinent to the Relational Theory of Leadership that can explain how the youth leadership and performance of Sangguniang Kabataan should be carried out. In line with the theory, the achievement of positive goals is anchored to the relationships and the leadership of the leader. In addition, building relationships within a team, a group, or an organization to achieve good change is essential. The findings thus demonstrate that Irrespective of sex, length of service, or educational attainment, Sangguniang Kabataan Officials are competent and well-equipped for their various works in their respective barangays. Based on the research findings, the researchers conducted a thorough analysis that offers significant insights for policymakers, educators, and youth development practitioners to improve the efficacy and self-perception of SK leaders. This analysis encourages more investigation and focused interventions to fortify the capacities and self-assurance of future leaders in the Sangguniang Kabataan.Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Public Administratio

Abstract onlyA Geographic Information System (GIS) was used to create a thematic map and pattern distribution analysis of groundwater sources in San Lorenzo, Guimaras. The study examined the groundwater sources used by vegetable farmers in San Lorenzo, focused on the service area, availability of groundwater sources, and crop area for cultivation within the municipality. The study found that 52 vegetable crop farmers in ten active barangays predominantly use groundwater sources for irrigation. The service area used by these farmers is 40.03 ha, with Brgy. Constancia and Cabano have the highest usage. The service areas range from 0.25 ha to 2.5 ha, with 1.1 to 2.5 ha being mostly utilized in the lowland portion of the municipality. During the dry season, groundwater sources are most abundant in lowland areas with low water tables and near rivers. High availability areas were found in Cabano, M. Chavez, Suclaran, Cabungahan, Sebario, and some upland areas like Gaban and Constancia. Upland areas had few available sources due to deep-water tables. The study classified groundwater tube wells used for irrigation: shallow tube wells were highly utilized in lowland areas and areas near watersheds with low water tables, while deep tube wells were used in upland areas with a deep-water table. The study revealed that San Lorenzo's areas are primarily used for planting fruit-bearing vegetables, with upland areas using leafy vegetables. The lowlands are most utilized for fruit-bearing vegetables and some for leafy. The study also revealed that the status and location of groundwater sources in San Lorenzo are clustered, as indicated by the pattern distribution analysis.Includes bibliographical referencesBachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineerin
