A capital theory of school effectiveness and improvement: An article review
Get PDFBecause of the considerable concentration on the relevance of education in society and, possibly, global development, it has become a thriving area of investigation and implementation that is gaining even more attention. Above all, scholars and practitioners must help to educate one another. This article review is intended to describe Hargreaves’s theory of school effectiveness and improvement focusing on 4 master concepts: outcomes (cognitive and moral) linked to curriculum (formal or hidden); leverage (innovation and evidence-based practice) linked to teaching (didactic and modeling), productive capacity (knowledge transfer and knowledge creation) connected to gaining knowledge (formal or informal), and social capital (trust and networks) linked to learning (formal or informal) (academic or moral). With this, concepts are meaningless unless they are properly implemented, or are closest to being put into effect
Why are schools slow to change?

Slow institutes and slow education can relate to several moralistic elements. This paper meant to describe Warner’s article entitled, “Why are Schools Slow to Change?” as to how schools should take action by recognizing the clients and the rapidly transforming world when in it comes to education. Schools constantly rearranged the \u27deck chairs\u27 in responding to social, technical, and economic developments in our civilization. World Economic Forum (2017) stated that to solve these issues, conventional means, strategies, and organizations are inadequate. Having new information, perspectives, discourse, resources, actions, and teamwork are all required for transformation. Thus, academic institutions must take immediate action by acknowledging their students and the fast-changing social and cultural contexts

It’s in the blood: An artistic inquiry into the concept, materials, and works of Samuel Baah Kortey
Get PDFContemporary art transcends a lot of areas of interest and also highlights a lot of artistic narratives. There is an enthralling array of potential expanding conversations on how every aspect of art production and distribution is marked by diversity. It comes from everywhere and strives to conceive the world as a distinct yet inextricably linked totality and the variety of modern art is its defining feature. This qualitative biographic study that craftily utilizes Feldman’s method of art criticism and Panofsky’s iconography in art historical writing sought to explore the concept, materials, and works themed ‘It\u27s in the Blood’ by the Ghanaian contemporary artist, Samuel Baah Kortey. The study investigated the philosophical ideologies, materiality, and artistic narratives that his works evoke. His creative works reveal the dichotomies within the scope of the contemporary Ghanaian art scene and their twists and turn on religion, spirituality, and popular culture. The uniqueness about Kortey is how he deliberately works on projects that are provocative, testing boundaries of art and its ethics. The study revealed that Kortey theorise blood as synonymous with life; giving life to and spiritually cleansing every cell in the human body. His art concept and practice reveal that although humans have been oriented to conceive blood in biological terms, blood has immense spiritual importance. His art practice interrogates sacredness in human thoughts, religious concerns, folklore, and explores issues about animal cruelty. Kortey’s art practice is a revelation of the apparent commercialization or cheapening of religious iconographies in contemporary culture
Photography and the use of photographs in photoplay magazines: An analysis of Atọ́ka, a photoplay magazine
Get PDFRight from primitive times to date, the means of communication among men have been changing. The circle of change entails the period pictorial representations were used to communicate. It gravitated to the use of the photographs to pass messages when the first clear and permanent photographs were made in 1839. Today, photographs still communicate. At a time in Nigeria, drama was transmitted through the photoplay magazine. This has warranted this study which focused on Atọ́ka, a Yorubá photoplay magazine produced in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria from 1967-1991. It is a quantitative study that was hinged on Lookism theory. The study set out to ascertain if Atọ́ka photoplay magazine performed the functions of photographs in print communication; determine the extent photoplay magazine is a viable tool for drama presentation, and confirm if magazine design principles were adhered to in Atọ́ka photoplay magazine. The study period was 1984-1989. Results revealed that Atọ́ka photoplay magazine played the role of photographs in print communication. Also, the photoplay magazine remains a viable tool for drama presentation. The study concluded that the place of drama and communication in the life of man can never be wished away due to their importance. Therefore, it was recommended that photoplay magazines should be resuscitated, and there should be English and various language versions, and that play texts for schools, particularly secondary and tertiary institutions, should be made into photoplay magazine forms
Examining the nature of African logic
Get PDFThe role of culture and custom in philosophy and logic is the centre point of this study. Therefore, the nature of African Logic explains how unique and peculiar it is in connection with the African world view. It establishes that the first step to understanding a people’s modus operandi and modus vivendi is to first of all, study and understand how they think and reason. Hence, people’s systematic way of reasoning explains their cosmological interaction peculiar to them. By doing this, one understands and know the reasons for every action taken and what it represents. This research examines African Logic as an imperative that explains and account for the cosmological experiences of the African people. Using critical analysis method, this work argues that Africans have been misunderstood and misrepresented in their thoughts because of the use of Western Logic to study and understand African people. Thus, it suggests that the best way to know Africans is to understand their worldview and Logic. This does not refute western logic but holds that its use in Africa as a standard to assess Africans is out of place and will not yield good results
Exploration of society and conflicts in Kaduna Metropolis in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries
No full textThe paper using primary and secondary sources is a study the evolution of conflict as a threat to the peace and security of Kaduna metropolis and the effects of crises on its social and economic development. The finding of the paper reveal that the diversity of residents and divisions along the Christian/Muslim dichotomy in Kaduna makes the city to be reflective of the wider Nigerian society with its inherent triggers towards conflict when relations among groups are not properly managed. The paper through exploring conflicts within Kaduna in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries found that the conflicts contributed to segregation in the metropolis and greatly affected social and economic development. The paper in appraising the triggers of the various conflicts such as the Sharia crises and the Miss World riots note that these were neither inevitable or premeditated, but often occurred as a result of flashpoint events then escalated due to the absence of reliable conflict mitigating frameworks such as effective security and credible inter-faith dialogue, which would have offered rapid remedial and preventive responses cognizant of the existing fault lines
Important pillars in delivery of mass campaign messages to a target audience through earned media
No full textOver the years, the remits of different theoretical and policy discourses on media issues have dealt with how conventional forms of mass media are a crucial ingredient for effective media campaigns. They have marked and interrogated, in greater detail, how this essential role is augmented in today’s era through these traditional media’s adoption of digital technology. It is against this backdrop that a vast collection of research on mass media campaigns has been conducted across the world; however, many of these studies are seemingly suffused in how these campaigns are expended to enhance the behavior of a target audience positively and submerge or ignore in toto why some of them fail to realize the same. Given the persistent reality of how some of these campaigns are failing to achieve such desirable outcomes, primarily because of inadequate funding that leads to their inconsistent delivery installments, or absolute lack of it through the media, this brief article delves into how such campaigns can still be delivered despite this financial impediment. Based on a qualitative systematic review research design, it demonstrates how mass campaigns can be delivered successfully through earned media coverage. In light of this possibility, it is concluded that relevant institutions seeking to deliver mass campaign messages should do so, at the very outset, by creating an enabling environment for such coverage to ensue. It is argued that such an environment will be realized if these institutions build a sustained series of events and news conferences specifically geared towards availing the campaign content for dissemination to a target audience at an affordable cost

The purpose/objective of the paper was to investigate the place of Pastoral Communication in the life of the Church in Bauchi Diocese, Nigeria. Leaning on the interaction theory, this paper which employed the qualitative method of study found that a well grounded Pastoral Communication would facilitate active participation of everyone one in the evangelizing mission of the Local Church. It recommended harnessing communication media and human communication as well as ensuring feedback mechanism and periodic evaluation as practical ways of revamping Pastoral Communication in Bauchi Diocese and the Church in the Nigeria. It concluded that Pastoral Communication creates image makers for the Church in Bauchi and the country at large
