Biological and chemical characterization of Acalypha wilkesiana leaf extracts
According to African folklore, Acalypha wikesiana is known to possess medicinal properties. A study was conducted to evaluate the presence of chemical compounds and biological properties in the non-polar and crude extracts of Acalypha wikesiana. To obtain the crude extract, the air-dried pulverized leaf of the plant was extracted with 95% ethanol and hexane. Some microbial strains associated with dermophytic diseases, including Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Aspergillus niger, Epidermatophyton Sp, Trichophyton rubrum and Candida tropicalis were inhibited by the crude ethanol extract. No activities were observed against Methylene-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, Microsporum gypseum, Microsporum canis, Aspergillus fumigates, and Candida albicans. In the DPPH free radical scavenging assay, the crude ethanol extract exhibited acceptable robust antioxidant activity between 0.1 and 0.9 mg/mL concentration. In the following GC-MS analysis, yellow oil was obtained from the crude extract by column chromatography, which revealed the presence of some compounds, mostly terpenoids and fatty acid esters. Medicinal properties of Acalypha wikesiana leaf extracts may be attributed to these compounds

Perceptional variance among university students towards learning in virtual mode in the contemporary scenario: An empirical study
The education sector in India has changed a lot largely because of the innovation and development in technology in recent years, where virtual learning is one of the major important parts of it. The concept of virtual learning is not new but recently it has emerged as a major tool for learning among different college and university based students, especially in the contemporary scenario. Therefore, the objective of the study is to find out the perceptional variance towards digital learning between different genders of university students in the current scenario. To fulfill the objectives of the study, the researcher conducted a primary based study mainly based in Kolkata, West Bengal to understand the perception of learning in virtual mode among university students, who are the matured learners. Non Parametric test, namely Mann Whitney test has been used in the current study to ascertain the result based on its primary survey. The findings of the study were mixed in nature giving statically significant and insignificant outcomes in the perception of learning towards virtual mode and based on the results and findings of the study, it can be concluded that there are more negative effect in virtual mode of learning then its positive side as perceived by the students and they mainly want offline mode of learning which does not significantly differ between different genders of the university students
Global economic system: Euro-American economic conspiracy and warfare against Africa
Global politics or the international economic system is a platform for competing economic forces who engage in the exploitation of global mineral resources. Irrespective of the fact that almost all states of the continents of the world are integrated into this global economic system, yet some states are wealthy and influential, while some others are underdeveloped and poor. Hence, deploring the Conspiracy or Dependency theory of development as a theoretical framework; and expository and evaluative methods, this treatise critically interrogates the malady of the international economic system. The crucial aim of the study is to systematically respond to the following clusters of questions that constitute the problem of the study- Why are some countries more developed than others? What or who is responsible for the underdevelopment of some countries? What are the necessary measures that would position underdeveloped countries on the path of development? The findings of this critical analysis include: the prevailing global economic order is an imbalanced system intentionally established for the perpetual exploitation and impoverishment of peripheral states by core states. This competitive process restores the mobocracy or disorder of the international system and perpetuates the master-slave relationship between and among states. The paper concludes that external forces are fundamentally responsible for the underdevelopment of peripheral states and the international economic system serves the economic and political interests of European and American capitalists. Therefore, the paper recommends reasoned and pragmatic protectionism as the expedient and most sustainable option for the emancipation and development of peripheral states
The effect of financial technology on commercial banks’ stability in Sub-Sahara Africa
The swift progression of digital technology is revolutionizing the financial domain and significantly influencing the stability of commercial banks through their pursuit of operational efficiency, reach, service delivery, and increased client attention, enhanced by increased consumer convenience, satisfaction, and loyalty. A complex change indeed as it is often associated with complications related to cyber-attacks which result in among other factors; data breaches, theft of sensitive customer information, and systems disruptions. This explains why the study is designed to investigate the effect of financial technology on commercial banks’ stability in Sub-Sahara Africa. Panel data from 2010 to 2022 was collected for 22 commercial banking sectors from the World Bank Global Financial Development Database 2022 and Financial Access Survey 2022. A composite index was formed to capture financial technology and the banking Z-score was used to capture commercial bank\u27s stability, all driven by data availability. The estimation technique used was the Panel-Corrected Standard Errors (PCSE). The results showed a positive and significant effect of financial technology on commercial banks’ stability at 1%. To improve their stability, commercial banks should invest more in ATMs, credit and debit card infrastructures, and mobile and internet applications, and policymakers should also encourage the development of financial technology (fintech) companies by creating 4G mobile networks, and rural electrifications, to guarantee equitable network and power supply

And further recommends that FRCN programmes should be used to fostering civic engagement and as indispensable tool for continuous public education in Abi Local Government Area during and after elections
Patronage politics and state creation in Nigeria
Nigerians have been engaged in continuous debates and agitations for the creation of new states. Advocates contend that such an initiative has the potential to enhance governance and foster development at the sub-national level. Even when the state creation exercise appears to have failed to address the underlying issues of national and subnational challenges, the agitations remains endless. This paper therefore explores the political elites\u27 rationale for state creation in Nigeria. The paper advanced neopatrimonialism as a theoretical lens to navigate the nature of Nigerian states that make them vulnerable to being used as prebends by the political elites in Nigeria. The paper theorized the existence of formal, codified rules or routine design but the state actors deviate from the general codified laws to personal and informal practices as an instrument of state reengineering. The paper utilized narrative review as a methodological approach to draw data from arrays of extensive secondary datasets. The paper established a very strong positive relationship between state creation and patronage politics in Nigeria because the neo-patrimonial state orients the political elites to see public offices or created states as prebends to be appropriated for private gains. The paper, therefore, recommends that the government should not embark on the creation of states except where it’s extremely vital for socio-cultural or regional balancing
Resonating diversity: Weaving Catholic Relief Service Global Heartbeat into International Human Resource Management
This research paper investigates resonating diversity, weaving the Catholic Relief Service (CRS) global heartbeat into international human resource management (IHRM). Over the last several years, the issue of diversity has been used to determine the success and substantial benefits of the organizations, however, it depends on how it is managed. Furthermore, the major aim of diversity is to develop a certain culture in that people get a chance to collaborate and be allowed to use their talents and abilities. Therefore, this paper investigates the reasons, effects, and challenges of managing diversity in international human resource management in the CRS in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The qualitative approach was therefore employed. The data were obtained primarily through semi-structured interviews with 30 staff of CRS. Analysis was done through thematic analysis. Findings revealed that driving innovation, improving decision-making, increasing employee engagement, expanding equal talent pools, and creativity are reasons for diversity in CRS. The papers also found that increased predictability when working in teams, access to the required talents, improved cultural awareness, and improved training and development are the effects of diversity in CRS. Besides, the paper found that language barriers, less trust, age barriers, and too many options are the challenges of diversity in CRS. The paper recommends CRS needs to tailor mechanisms to minimize the disadvantages that may come up due to the failure of accommodating various backgrounds; ideas, values, and working conditions
Interrogating the nexus between rumour and conflict in Nigeria
This study interrogated the nexus between rumour and conflict in Nigeria by examining the nature, causes, and instances of some major rumours in the country and their connection to the conflict. Rumours have permeated every sector in Nigeria, from informal to formal, causing conflicts and even violence. Social media platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, and Twitter have become dominant channels for sharing information. There is also the traditional mass media of television and press as platforms for sharing information. Information from these platforms can lead to peace in a conflict situation. The negative is that these platforms have also become channels for spreading rumours that can cause or exacerbate existing conflicts. Using a survey research design, data were collected through a structured questionnaire known as The Nexus Between Rumour and Conflict Questionnaire (TNRCQ). Null and alternate hypotheses were tested using person correlations through the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) Version 21 (IBM Corp) at a 0.05 level of significance. From the test result, the correlation was significant at 0.01, showing a significant relationship between rumour and conflicts in Nigeria. Violence like the Alu 4 lynching and the Lekki Massacre were majorly caused by rumours. There was also a national political tension occasioned by the rumour of the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari. There is, therefore, an urgent need for the government and other stakeholders to engage in mass education of the population about the danger of spreading unverified information, especially on social media platforms
