Organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) plays a pivotal role in fostering a positive and conducive learning environment in educational institutions. This study investigated the level of OCB among college members of the Physical Education and Sports Sciences Department at the University of Zakho from the perspective of their students. Using a quantitative, descriptive approach, structured questionnaires were administered to a diverse sample of 159 students, varying in sex, study shift, and year of study.  The findings revealed a significant acknowledgment of OCB among department members, as perceived by their students, indicating the positive impact of such behaviors on the overall academic climate. Interestingly, no statistically significant difference was observed in OCB perceptions between male and female students, which suggests an inclusive and equitable learning experience. However, a notable difference emerged between students attending morning and evening study shifts, highlighting the potential influence of factors, such as faculty availability and resource allocation. Furthermore, the study explored variations in OCB perceptions across different years of study, with fourth-year students reporting the highest mean score, potentially attributable to cumulative exposure and interactions with faculty members. However, these differences were not statistically significant, indicating a relatively consistent perception of OCB across academic progressions. This study contributes to a broader understanding of OCB in academic settings and its potential impact on overall learning experience. It provides valuable insights into fostering a culture of citizenship behavior within educational institutions and offers recommendations for professional development initiatives and targeted interventions to enhance OCB across various study programs

This study aimed to identify the key factors influencing COVID-19 vaccine acceptance among the elderly at Manatuto Villa Health Center, Kota Manatuto, Timor-Leste, with a focus on knowledge, social influence, personal experiences, emotional factors, and access to health information. A cross-sectional design was used, involving 278 respondents aged 60 years and above who completed the structured questionnaires. Data analysis was conducted using univariate, bivariate, and logistic regression to identify the main determinants of vaccine acceptance. The results revealed that 72% of respondents lacked sufficient knowledge about the benefits of COVID-19 vaccination, which was attributed to low education levels and limited access to information (p < 0.05). Additionally, 12% of the respondents reported negative experiences related to vaccine side effects, such as dizziness and nausea, which increased their hesitancy to receive subsequent doses. Social and family influences were also significant, with 71% of respondents following the advice of religious and community leaders in making vaccination decisions. Emotional factors, such as anxiety and fear of declining health due to old age, affected 67% of the respondents, becoming a barrier to vaccine acceptance. This study concludes that improving knowledge through community-based outreach programs, addressing anxiety, and involving trusted local leaders are essential strategies for enhancing vaccine acceptance among the elderly. The practical implications of these findings highlight the need for policies that focus on community education and outreach approaches to increase vaccination coverage in areas with limited access to healthcare

The Distribution of Obligatory Bequest to Non-Muslim Biological Children from the Perspective of Islamic Inheritance Law in Indonesia

This study evaluates the application of the Compilation of Islamic Law in Indonesia (KHI) in the Supreme Court Decision Number 721/K/Ag/2015, which awarded half of the deceased\u27s inheritance to the plaintiff, who had been married to the deceased under a false identity for seventeen years. Controversy arose from the religious differences of the deceased, who was declared Muslim, and the Christian burial process, raising questions about the validity of the marriage. Using a normative juridical research method, including statutory and analytical approaches, this analysis investigates the court\u27s disregard of the KHI, despite its recognized authority within the Indonesian legal context, particularly in inheritance and bequest disputes. The research findings indicate that the court\u27s reliance on the interpretation by Yusuf Al-Qardhawi instead of the KHI diminishes legal certainty. The study concludes that for better judicial consistency and fairness in inheritance cases, explicit consideration of the KHI is essential. This insight underscores the need for judicial adherence to established legal norms to maintain integrity and predictability in legal proceedings, which has significant implications for the legal community\u27s approach to similar cases

    No full text
Ibn Hajar al-Haytami (d. 974 AH/1567 CE) gave his own color and demonstrated the development of ru\u27yah al-hilāl in Islamic civilization. As an important part of determining the beginning of Ramadan for the obligation to fast, Ibn Hajar al-Haytami was of the view that the results of ru\u27yah al-hilāl that utilized tools such as glass could not be accepted or used as guidelines for determining the beginning of the lunar month. This view contradicts the work of science that prioritizes and produces observation aids to maintain precision and reduce human error when observing celestial objects. With a historical and hermeneutic approach, this paper seeks to reveal the historical background of Ibn Hajar al-Haytami \u27s view regarding ru\u27yah al-hilāl. The findings of this paper are that Ibn Hajar al-Haytami\u27s opinion is in line with and influenced by the decline of scientific civilization in Islam in the 10th century AH. At that time, especially in the Ottoman Turkish region, philosophy as the basis for the development of science was rejected and/or ignored in the scientific treasures of Islamic civilization

The Application of Graphology in Assessing Deaf People\u27s Communication and Social Interaction Abilities

Graphology, the study of handwriting, has been used to interpret an individual\u27s character and personality. This study examined the application of graphology in assessing the communication and social interaction abilities of deaf people. Deaf individuals face challenges in building social relationships and communicating with others because of their hearing impairment and reliance on nonverbal communication techniques such as sign language. Previous research has explored the potential of graphology in diagnosing attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and mental retardation as well as in revealing the psychological aspects of historical figures. However, few studies have investigated the application of graphology in assessing the counseling needs of deaf individuals. This study employed a qualitative approach to analyze the handwriting samples of deaf participants using graphological techniques. The findings revealed that intensifying and reducing signs in the handwriting of deaf individuals influenced their communication and social interaction abilities. This study highlights the potential of graphology as an alternative assessment tool for understanding the characteristics and conditions of deaf individuals, without relying on oral communication. These results contribute to the field of counseling by providing insights for assessors, such as psychologists and counselors, to develop appropriate interventions and approaches tailored to the unique needs of deaf individuals. Further research is recommended to explore the effectiveness of graphology-based interventions in enhancing communication and social interaction skills of deaf individuals
