NASA Student Launch Payload Deployment
For the NASA Student Launch Competition, a deployment system was created to deploy the payload of the rocket. To accomplish this the deployment system was designed, analyzed, manufactured, and tested to meet the requirements from the NASA Competition. The requirements included deployment of the payload as well as staying within 4 pounds. The project requirements were researched and each of the proposed components had analyses completed. The analyses included weight calculations, stress, and deflection analyses using statics, mechanics of materials, and dynamics. There were many discussions throughout the project between the teammates to ensure all components of the payload and deployment system would interact accordingly and be within regulation. Teammates included Eli Kirk and Ethan Stapleton. During the analysis phase, the parts were designed using SolidWorks. After assuring all requirements were met, the linear actuator was ordered, and the manufacturing process was initialized. The parts manufactured included cutting a polycarbonate sheet into support plates and 3D printing using Central Washington University’s Mechanical Engineering Department’s 3D printers to print the remaining parts. After the parts were manufactured the deployment system was constructed and tested. The testing included measuring the deflection on the parts the linear actuator was in contact with as well as the total time the linear actuator would take to fully deploy. The deployment system for the rocket completed its requirements during the competition which were deploying 3 inches after the rocket landed, with no wire entanglements, and deployed 1.8 seconds under the required time of 8 seconds

Protracted eclogite-facies metamorphism of the Dulan area, North Qaidam ultrahigh-pressure terrane: Insights on zircon growth during continental subduction and collision
Continental subduction and collision are recorded by ultrahigh-pressure (UHP) terranes; UHP terranes that form at early stages of an orogeny tend to be small and experience short residence at eclogite-facies depths, whereas terranes that form at mature stages of an orogeny tend to be larger and experience longer residence at these depths, but accurately determining eclogite-facies residence time requires a large geochronologic dataset tied to metamorphic conditions (via trace elements and/or inclusions). In the Dulan area, North Qaidam UHP terrane, China, it remains unclear whether the terrane experienced a long residence at eclogite-facies depths, marking the mature stage of an orogeny or two distinct (ultra)high pressure ([U]HP) events (with short residence times), interpreted as the transition from oceanic subduction to continental collision, where one (U)HP event is related to the former and second (U)HP event to the latter. To address this issue, we report new zircon U–Pb ages and trace-element data from eclogite and host paragneiss from the Dulan area and show that this terrane records ~42 Myr of eclogite-facies metamorphism at (U)HP conditions, similar to other large UHP terranes. Zircon from 11 eclogite and 2 gneiss samples yields weighted mean ages of 463–425 Ma, flat heavy rare earth element (HREE) patterns without negative Eu anomalies, and eclogitic mineral inclusions, indicating eclogite-facies conditions. Paragneiss metamorphic ages overlap with ages from eclogite but are generally younger, suggesting that a lack of internally generated fluids may have inhibited zircon growth and/or recrystallization until early decompression and white mica consumption in felsic gneiss generated fluids; thus, we interpret that these felsic rocks record the later stages of continental collision. Dataset patterns from all new and previously published analyses for the Dulan area (34 eclogite and 14 gneiss) suggest that metamorphic zircon in eclogite records prograde, peak and possibly early retrograde conditions, in contrast to the prediction from mass balance models that metamorphic zircon should only grow during exhumation and cooling. We reconcile our observations with these model predictions by recognizing that differential solubility can lead to grain-scale zircon growth or recrystallization over a large segment of the pressure–temperature (P–T) path even where zircon abundance decreases at the whole-rock scale

Examination of the Cumulative Risk Assessment and Nutritional Profiles among College Ballet Dancers
This study examined female collegiate ballet dancers’ (n = 28) Female Athlete Triad (Triad) risk via the Cumulative Risk Assessment (CRA) and nutritional profiles (macro- and micronutrients; n = 26). The CRA identified Triad return to play criteria (RTP: Full Clearance, Provisional Clearance, or Restricted/Medical Disqualified) by assessing eating disorder risk, low energy availability, menstrual cycle dysfunction, and low bone mineral density. Seven-day dietary assessments identified any energy imbalances of macro- and micronutrients. Ballet dancers were identified as low, within normal, or high for each of the 19 nutrients assessed. Basic descriptive statistics assessed CRA risk classification and dietary macro- and micronutrient levels. Dancers averaged 3.5 ± 1.6 total score on the CRA. Based on these scores, the RTP outcomes revealed Full Clearance 7.1%, n = 2; Provisional Clearance 82.1%, n = 23; and Restricted/Medical Disqualification 10.7%, n = 3. Dietary reports revealed that 96.2% (n = 25) of ballet dancers were low in carbohydrates, 92.3% (n = 24) low in protein, 19.2% (n = 5) low in fat percent, 19.2% (n = 5) exceeding saturated fats, 100% (n = 26) low in Vitamin D, and 96.2% (n = 25) low in calcium. Due to the variability in individual risks and nutrient requirements, a patient-centered approach is a critical part of early prevention, evaluation, intervention, and healthcare for the Triad and nutritional-based clinical evaluations
