    MATCH AND MISMATCH BETWEEN LEARNING STYLES OF EFL STUDENTS AND TEACHING STYLES OF EFL TEACHERS

              The purposes of this research were to find out what students’ learning styles and teachers’ teaching styles at MTsN 02 Bukittinggi and to find out what are the matches or mismatches between students’ learning styles and teachers’ teaching styles at MTsN 02 Bukittinggi. The design of this research was combining both quantitative and qualitative research. The population of this research was grade VIII at MTsN 02 Bukittinggi. The sample was collected from two classes with a total number of students was 78 students and two different English teachers who taught in both classes. The instrument of this research was questionnaire and interview. The result showed that both classes had the same dominant learning style. In class VIII.6, there were dependent, participant, and collaborative learning styles. Meanwhile, in class VIII.7, the dominant learning styles was collaborative, participant and dependent learning style. While the teachers also had the same dominant teaching styles which were expert, formal authority, and personal model teaching style. Based on the theory of Grasha (2002) about the relationship of learning and teaching style, the researcher found that there was a match between learning styles and teaching styles at MTsN 02 Bukittingg and it was in cluster 2.   &nbsp

    Homosexuality is also known as a disease or mental disorder. As a disease of course must be given treatment, so that the disease can be cured. However, based on Indonesian culture, it is considered that homosexuality is something that is deviant or something that is not normal. For this reason, in this study, we will discuss how these deviations form. The deviation in question is the dystonic ego in the novel Maroon (Luka the Writer) by Asrini Mahdia. In conducting this study, the researcher used a qualitative approach with a descriptive method with content analysis techniques. The results of this study are sexual deviations that occur in the main character (I) with a dystonic ego. However, after meeting a very kind and caring woman, my character begins to feel uncomfortable with her sexual orientation (homosexual ego dystonic), namely the homosexual attitude or behavior found in my character caused by past trauma, not getting love from parents, etc. Homosexuals that occur in the main character (I) tend to be ego dystonic homosexuals. Because before becoming a homosexual, my character was a normal man.Homoseksual disebut juga sebagai penyakit atau kelainan jiwa. Sebagai penyakit tentu harus diberikan treatment, sehingga penyakit tersebut dapat disembuhkan. Akan tetapi, dipandang berdasarkan kultur budaya Indonesia menganggap homoseksual ini adalah sesuatu yang menyimpang atau sesuatu yang tidak normal. Untuk itu, dalam penelitian ini akan membahas bagaimana bentuk penyimpangan tersebut. Penyimpangan yang dimaksud adalah ego distonik dalam novel Maroon (Luka Sang Penulis) karya Asrini Mahdia. Dalam melakukan telaah ini peneliti menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif dengan teknik analisis isi. Hasil penelitian ini yakni penyimpangan seksual yang terjadi pada tokoh utama (aku) dengan ego distonik. Namun, setelah bertemu dengan perempuan yang sangat baik dan perhatian, tokoh aku mulai risih dengan orientasi seksualnya (homoseksual ego distonik) yaitu sikap atau perilaku homoseksual yang terdapat dalam diri tokoh aku yang disebabkan oleh trauma masa lalu, tidak mendapatkan kasih sayang dari orang tua, dan sebagainya. Homoseksual yang terjadi pada tokoh utama (aku) cenderung pada homoseksual ego distonik. Karena sebelum menjadi homoseksual, tokoh aku merupakan laki-laki normal

    The formulation of the problem in this study is how to increase the ability of teachers to use media in learning mathematics at SD Negeri 01 Koto Tangah Simalanggang through academic supervision for the 2018/2019 academic year? The purpose of this research is to find out how to increase the ability of teachers to use media in learning mathematics at SD Negeri 01 Koto Tangah Simalanggang through academic supervision for the 2018/2019 academic year. This research is a School Action Research, which consists of two cycles. Each cycle consists of stages of planning, implementing action, observing, and reflecting. The subjects of this study were 10 class teachers at the UPTD SD Negeri 01 Koto Baru Simalanggang. This research was carried out in semester 1 of the 2020/2021 school year. The results of the first cycle research showed that the percentage of the teacher's ability to use media in mathematics learning was 71%, and in the second cycle it was 88%. The conclusion in this study is that there is an increase in the ability of teachers to use media in learning mathematics at SD Negeri 01 Koto Tangah Simalanggang through Academic Supervision for the 2018/2019 academic year

    Pengaruh Partispasi Orang Tua terhadap Motivasi Belajar Siswa SMP Negri 35 Kota Bekasi dimasa Pandemi Covid-19

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada pengaruh antara partisipasi orangtua dengan motivasi belajar siswa dimasa pandemic covid 19 SMP N 35 di Kota Bekasi tahun 2021. Penelitian ini menguunakan metode kuantitatif menggunakan metode survey deskriptif. Sampel penelitian mengunakan random samlping yang berjumlah 53 siswa dan siswi. Kesimpulan hasil penelitian mengungkapkan: 1)Persamaan regresi liner regresi di peroleh Y= 38,841 + 0,222X. artinya skor Y dapat di prediksi melalui persamaan linear. 2) Dari hasil analisis di dapat bahwa Partisipasi Orang berpengaruh Motivasi Belajar Siswa SMP Negri 35 Kota Bekasi dimasa Pandemi Covid-19, hal ini dapat di lihat dari thit dan p- value lebih kecil dari 0,05. Oleh sebab itu dapat di interpresentasikan bahwa pengaruh Partisipasi Orang Tua berpengaruh positif terhadap Motivasi Belajar Siswa SMP Negri 35 Kota Bekasi dimasa Pandemi Covid-19. 3)Dari hasil analisis uji signifikasi persamaan regresi diperoleh yaitu thit dan p-value lebih kecil dari 0,05,atau Ho ditolak. Dengan demikian regresi Y atau X adalah signifikan atau Partisipasi Orang Tua berpengaruh terhadap Motivasi Belajar Siswa SMP Negri 35 Kota Bekasi dimasa Pandemi Covid-19. 4)Uji signifikasi koefesien korelasi di peroleh= 0,292 dengan p-value kecil dari 0,05 hal ini berarti Ho ditolak. Dengan demikian koefesien berkorelasi  sedang antara Partisipasi Orang Tua dan Motivasi Belajar dimasa pandemi. Sedangkan dari hasil analisis di peroleh RSquere  0,87, yang mengandung makna bahwa 87%  variasi variabel hasil Partisipasi Orang Tua Terhadap Motivasi Belajar dimasa pandemi

    This study aims to determine the effect of Google Classroom Media on student learning outcomes in social studies subjects in class VIII SMP Terpadu Ibnu Muay Babelan Bekasi. The type of research conducted is quantitative. This research is ex post facto. This research was conducted in class VIII SMP Terpadu Ibnu Muay Babelan Bekasi. This research is quantitative associative with a sample size of 30 students. This data collection was carried out using the Google Classroom Media scale and documentation of even semester report cards. Validity test using content validity test (expert judgment). The reliability test uses Cronbach's Alpha which produces a reliability index of 0.968. The item correlation test is used to determine the consistency of respondents' answers. The data analysis technique was carried out by descriptive statistical analysis while to determine the relationship between the two variables, namely Google Classroom Media and student learning outcomes obtained through calculations with product moment correlation. The results showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between Google Classroom Media and student learning outcomes. Social Studies subject for class VIII of the Integrated Junior High School of Ibnu Muay Babelan Bekasi for the 2020/2021 academic year. This is indicated by the Pearson Correlation value on SPSS of 0.497 and the P value of 0.00 <0.05 which indicates a positive and significant relationship

    VIRTUAL DEBATE IN EFL CLASSROOM: IMPACTS ON THE STUDENTS’ SPEAKING SKILL

               The main objective of this study was to describe the implementation of virtual debate in teaching speaking and to identify students’ speaking skill improvement after being taught by using virtual debate. To achieve the objective of the study, a qualitative descriptive method was used. The data was gathered through debate speeches given by eight debaters from SMA Muhammadiyah 9 Kualuh Hulu. It includes the Opening Government team (Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister), the Opening Opposition team (Leader of the Opposition and Deputy Leader of the Opposition), Closing Government (Government Member and Government Whip), and Closing Opposition (Closing Government and Closing Whip) taken from the practicing debate for 4 meetings. The data in this study were the transcription of debate activities. The steps taken in this analysis were collecting data by transcribing debate speeches into text, identifying improvisation and fluency, and concluding the analysis. The results showed that the improvisation and fluency of the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, Leader of the Opposition, Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Government Member, Government Whip, Closing Government, and Closing Whip were in medium levels from the beginner level. In both improvisation and fluency levels, debate speeches showed considerable improvisation and fluency

    Commissive speech  acts  in  discourse  dialogue  with  the  candidates  for  mayor  of Pariaman -IJP- sympathizers aimed at explaining the form of speech act commissive and contextual explanation. Commissive speech act is used in dialogue with sympathizers in the form of speech promise and offer something. But the speakers did not use the speech act commissive dengna form of oath. Commissive speech acts speech acts are used only with the form of promises and offers, while the speech act with a form of oath was not found. In utter promises and offers something of speakers seem to be careful in communicating with supporters.     The research is carried out to describe the role and position of bundo kandung  as woman who was  instrumental in the formation of the next generation character in the local Minangkabau’s  novels  during  the  new  order.  The  research  uses  qualitative  description method , and content analysis approach. The result shows that the role and position of women as bundo kandung have been carried out well enough both as a wife and a mother. However, some might just take advantage materially from spouses in which the women or wives cannot stay when things go wrong in their family. Even so, the role of women as bundo kandung is shown through Rumah Mande attitude in taking care of their brother’s children. In the novel, Persiden, bundo kandung is supposed to be taken into account of the Minangkabau tradition. But, their position does not work as it is. The reason for this is men who get the title as penghulu or mamak hold more power than bundo kandung does. Rinnai Kabut Singgalang also shows that bundo kanduang’s authority is getting lessened in the eyes of Minangkabau community. Bundo is simply a people’s symbol, but not to own full rights in the formation personality children and children in his family. The novel Mengurai Rindu describes women as bundo kandung have a great responsibility for their family, community, and husband’s community. In this novel visible that women are not only responsible for the formation of children’s personality, but is also able to protect her husband’s family

    Creative thinking is one of the abilities that students must have to face the 21st century. The reality in the field shows that the 2018 UMMY Solok mathematics education students have not been able to directly solve math problems in various ways. So that students are thought not to have good creative thinking skills. Mathematical problems can be developed by providing open-ended problems, namely problems that have more than one correct answer or correct solution. By providing open-ended problems, students' creative thinking skills can be developed. With the ability to think creatively, a person is able to face the problems faced in the future. By knowing students 'creative thinking abilities, it can be seen that students' creative thinking processes are expected to be accustomed to thinking creatively in solving the problems they are facing. This study aims to describe the creative thinking process of mathematics education students of UMMY Solok in solving mathematical problems using an open-ended approach. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The subjects in this study were 9 students of UMMY Solok mathematics education class of 2018. The results showed that as many as 11.1% of students had the ability to think creatively in the less creative category, 55.6% of students had the ability to think creatively in the creative enough category, and 33.3% of students had the ability to think creatively with the creative category in solving math problems with an open ended approac

    Dalam menentukan keberhasilan pendidikan anak, orang tua menjadi salah satu faktor  penting dalam menentukan keberhasilan pendidikannya. Peran dan tanggung jawab orang tua dalam mewujudkan dapat dilakukan dengan membimbing belajar dirumah sesuai program yang dipelajari disekolah. Proses pembelajaran Belajar dari Rumah dengan melibatkan peran orang tua ini hendaknya dapat dilaksanakan dengan maksimal sebagaimana pembelajaran disekolah oleh guru. Walaupun terdapat beberapa kendala dalam pelaksanaannya, kegiatan belajar tetap harus diimbangi dengan keaktifan selama kegiatan belajar. Tujuan uama penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat pengaruh peran orang tua terhadap keaktifan belajar siswa selama proses pembelajaran dari rumah. Hasil dari penelitian peran orang tua terhadap keaktifan belajar siswa bahwa berpengaruh sebesar 53,4% terhadap keaktifan belajar siswa pada masa pandemi covid-19 di SMPIT At-Taqwa 05, sedangkan 46,6% dipengaruhi oleh faktor lainnya
