Background. Hand sanitizers have been recognized as an effective means of reducing bacterial load and transmission. It is needful to periodically assess the bacteriological status of individual products due to batch variation. Aim. This study was designed to assess the bacteriological quality and efficacy of two hand sanitizers sold within the Ilishan-Remo community of Ogun State, Nigeria, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Methodology. Samples of two brands of hand sanitizers were procured and assessed using standard bacteriological methods, including Sterility test, Surface viable count, Gram-stain, Motility test, Biochemical tests, Quantitative suspension test, and Agar diffusion test. Data were analyzed with paired-samples T-Test using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences -Version 20.0 (SPSS-20.0) to assess for significant variation between the effectiveness of the two hand sanitizers. P-values <0.05 was considered significant. Results. The study\u27s outcome showed the satisfactory bacteriological quality of both hand sanitizers tested. However, the mean bacterial load was not significantly reduced after sterilization using both hand sanitizers. The hand sanitizers\u27 bactericidal activity was also considered unsatisfactory since the Log reduction was less than 5. Brand B hand sanitizer proved to be more potent than Brand A at the contact time. Each of the products displayed varying inhibitory activities against the bacterial isolates. Conclusion. The study highlighted the need to periodically assess the bacteriological quality and efficacy of hand sanitizers to guarantee the general safety of the end users and ensure proper infection control

Objective. To determine if there is a correlation between basal glucose levels and cholesterol and triglyceride levels in asymptomatic patients or with non-specific complaints who attend a consultation for routine evaluations. Materials and methods. Correlational analytical cross-sectional study. The variables were cholesterol, triglyceride and glucose levels. Information was collected from 637 patients over 18 years of age in a polyclinic in the district of Villa el Salvador from January to July of the year 2021, in the statistical analysis the SPSS 21 program was used, for the correlation study the Spearman coefficient was used with a significance level of 0.01. Results. Only 50.60% and 50.90% of patients had normal cholesterol and triglyceride levels, respectively. 15.90% of patients have pre-diabetes and 15.10% have diabetes mellitus. Likewise, a low and positive association was found between glucose and cholesterol (0.145) and between glucose and triglycerides (0.255), as well as a moderate and positive correlation between cholesterol and triglycerides (0.405). Conclusion. There is a low degree of association between the variables studied, so it is not possible to determine the values of cholesterol and triglycerides in base to glucose and vice versa, this can be attributed to glucose and cholesterol levels being regulated by distant physiological and genetic factors.

Background. It is limited literature on the possible factors related to mortality by COVID-19 in minors. Children and young people are generally considered vulnerable, especially in low-income countries, whereby consistent evidence must arise to protect them and avoid mortality. Methods. A multiple linear regression model was fit to evaluate the relationship between deaths per 100,000 inhabitants and pandemic containment policies, the duration of totally closed schools, and GDP in 29 countries under study. Results. Linear regression analysis shows that the association between deaths per 100k and the number of weeks of closed schools had a coef B=0.355, [CI 0.010; 0.699], and it is statistically significant (P-value =0.044). Similarly, the association between deaths per 100K and GDP was -0.001, [CI -0.003; 0.001], and is not statistically associated (P-value 0.633). Conclusions. This study suggests that open schools could be a protective space for COVID-19 mortality in the child and youth population and that each country should implement studies on the subject at the local level

Due to digital revolution, mass media has a great presence in people\u27s lives. Hence, there is a prevailing media culture of incessant and changing information. This generates the need to develop a media literacy to be taught as part of a media competence in Peruvian classrooms. This would be presented with greater complexity and precision within the Peruvian National Curriculum of Basic Education in order to accomplish the ideal of the knowledge society. Therefore, the purpose of this paper was to carry out a theoretical review and an analysis of media literacy and its realization as a media competence in the curriculum. Because of this, it is concluded that some aspects of media competence are present in different curricular areas (Art and Culture, Communication, Social Sciences and Personal Development Citizenship and Civics) in addition to the transversal competence 28. However, these aspects are not exclusively or systematically presented as proposed by Ferrés through six dimensions. For this reason, it is proposed to include this competence within the area of communication, considering the characteristics and needs of the Peruvian educational system for the elaboration of its respective capacities and performances.

    Get PDF
This thesis was proposed with the objective of collecting the main resources of an educational, socio-educational and psychological nature for families in confinement due to COVID-19, at two levels: - Identify the existing resources in the Peruvian state concerning educational support, socio-educational and psychological against the isolation applied by coronavirus. Likewise, to identify the main risks in students of the EBR that emerged during confinement and include the reference strategies, at an international level, to improve and/or maintain family dynamics, which allow preventing the risks of confinement in Peru, since the On March 15, 2020, the Peruvian government declared a state of health emergency prompted by the rapid evolution of SARS-Cov-2. as a family care measure to face the COVID-19 pandemic. The greatest impact of the restrictions applied due to the lack of contact with the main  spheres of socialization has been in childhood and adolescence. The increase in the rates of family violence and the abusive consumption of the game show the need to reinforce family prevention measures. Consequently, a large part of Peruvian prevention measures is of a tertiary nature. It should be noted that there is still a need to provide resources for primary risk prevention, aimed at improving family communication and parental skills in order to reduce the rates of family violence and the inappropriate use of ICT by children and adolescents.
