    Get PDF
Nowadays, global warming is increasing in response of climate change which affects almost every sector including the agriculture sector. Therefore, there is a need to confirm the policies for policymakers and government officials to minimize the monetary loss in response to climate change. In doing so, our study reveals the effect of climate change on the yield of major food crops in Pakistan. To check the existence of long-run association among the variables, we employJohansen co-integration technique from 1990 to 2019. The results proves that co-integration exists among the variables in the long run. Hence, this study suggested policy formulation for policymakers and government officials that should focus on the harmful effect of climate change on the agriculture sector to rebuild the resilient and sustainable agriculture sector of Pakistan

    Get PDF
Economic growth is a process that is not possible without a lot of energy consumption. Energy is considered as the life blood of an economy however, the energy consumption is also an important factor responsible for degrading the natural environment of the world. The present empirical work is an effort to empirically analyze the association of energy use (kg of oil equivalent per capita) with economic growth (GDP per capita annual growth), foreign direct investment (FDI net inflow as percentage of GDP), and environmental degradation (CO2 emissions, metric tons per capita) in case of Pakistan. The work is based on time series data for the years 1975 to 2018. Canonical cointegrating regression (CCR) method is used for the estimation of the coefficient of the  parameters. The results demonstrate that  energy use has  significant positive association with  FDI, economic growth,  and CO2 emissions. The empirical results recommend that policy makers in Pakistan require to work on policies regarding sustainable development and efficient use of energy as without achieving the efficiency in energy use, the desirable growth of the economy without environmental degradation cannot be achieved

The main objective of this research is to make a case for good governance as the only solution for Pakistan’s multitude of problems. There is a need for goodwill to be restored among the people, if there was any, to begin with, given that Pakistan has always struggled with governance issues since its origin. What Pakistan needs now is the implementation of policies that can be a catalyst for dynamic and long-lasting social change. Categorically, the current nature of existing problems rooted within halted development, social disorder, and a state of anarchy, can only be combated through effective institutional structures and effective models of government that are able to act upon actionable items in the interest of the public. Today’s dilemmas are rooted in archaic practices that need to be re-evaluated to meet the needs of the hour. Obsolete, ineffective modes of practice need to be reconfigured through a process of intense scrutiny and amendments. Political reform is the ultimate solution for the way forward. In this era of rapid globalization, and the visibility of other nations thriving across the globe, there is an urgent need to act swiftly to bring forth positive change within the existing system that is not failing, but in fact, has already failed

The major objective of this research is to examine the relationship between poverty, income inequality and economic growth from some selected developing countries. This study uses panel data for the period of 2002-2015. All the data is taken from world development indicators (WDI). To find out the results, we have used Hausman test an econometrics technique for panel data in this research. The results of the study indicate that poverty and income inequality have a negative impact on economic growth on the other hand Gross capital formation, labor force, total population and government consumption and expenditure have a positive impact on economic growth. The result tells us that changes in these variables have a significant and positive effect on the dependent variable. To achieve the goal of economic growth developing countries should reduce poverty and take meaningful steps to overcome the problem of inequality in the society which can be very helpful in achieving the goal of economic growth

Proficiency in reading comprehension is very important especially for secondary English language students. In this mixed methods study, the research proven methodological intervention “reciprocal teaching” is introduced to improve the reading skills and academic performance of 30 secondary students of grade 11.  Reciprocal teaching is a scaffold dialogue technique that is built upon four strategies which competent readers use to understand text namely predicting, questioning, clarifying and summarizing. The four strategies of reciprocal teaching were each part of the four interrelated cycles that comprised the related activities implemented during the intervention. A general plan inclusive of activities, teaching resources, observation schedules, checklists and assessments was constructed and used for data collection. When the scores of pre and post assessments were compared using paired samples t test, they showed a significant amount of improvement in grades of students as well as their ability to effectively understand the text. The outcomes proved reciprocal teaching to be a significant technique for improving reading comprehension skills and academic performance. In addition, the implication for teachers who teach reading comprehension is that through modeling and implementation of the reciprocal strategies like predicting, clarifying, questioning and summarizing they can enhance the academic performance of students

    Get PDF
This study intended to explore the linkage between education, poverty rates, and economic growth in Pakistan. Data for various variables have been collected from 1973 to 2017.  After establishing the stationary process by utilizing the Augmented Dickey-Fuller Test the research used the (ARDL) Auto-Regressive Distributed Lag methodology to estimate the empirical relationships. This study took GDP as a dependent variable whereas independent variables are literacy, health, inflation, headcount ratio, export. The result concluded that Inflation and poverty are the determinants to hinder economic growth while Health, Exports, and literacy are statically significant and have a positive impact on economic growth. It is suggested that a keen focus should put to enhance the educational and health facilities so that higher growth can be achieved. Anti-poverty policies must be made that make them more productive so this will lead to the growth process

Though Urdu language has no religious background, it is inspired by Arabic a mother-tongue of Islam. However, after its development, Urdu was exclusively attributed to be the language of Muslims of the Sub-continent. They faced many challenges for the survival of Urdu during the Movement of Independence. For the same reason, after independence, Urdu was declared to be the National Language of Pakistan. Afterward, certain bodies were established for its proper implementation as official language of the country. This aspect is recognized as constitutional obligation in term of Article 251 of Constitution, 1973. Though, the government was given sufficient time for the compliance of the same, this task could not have been accomplished despite of lapse of almost fifty years. Even, the judicial verdicts could not make the concerned institutions mindful. Instead, English is the official language of Pakistan since independence. Of course, there is difference of opinion on the matter of Official Language. Among others, the medium of education and legislation including policy papers are the major issues which are on English pattern. However, if these issues are addressed, the constitutional obligation of implementing Urdu as official language may be ensured
