This study aims to examine gambling crimes in the jurisdiction of the Pangkalan Brandan Police from a criminological perspective. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data was obtained through interviews with police officers, community leaders, and gamblers, as well as analysis of legal documents and police reports. The results of the study show that the main factors that encourage gambling include economic pressure, permissive social environment, and culture that considers gambling as a tradition. In addition, weak law enforcement and limited police resources are also obstacles in eradicating gambling. In an effort to counteract, the Pangkalan Brandan Police implemented a repressive strategy through raids and control operations, as well as a preventive strategy through socialization and education to the community. However, the effectiveness of law enforcement is still limited due to changes in the modus operandi of perpetrators and lack of public participation in reporting gambling cases. From a criminological perspective, this study confirms that gambling is a complex social phenomenon and requires a holistic approach in dealing with it. Synergy is needed between law enforcement officials, local governments, and the community to create a more effective strategy in eradicating gamblingy

This study analyzes how Flores' cultural elements are used as a marketing communication strategy at Kafe Bajawa. Using a qualitative approach and Oswald’s marketing semiotics analysis, the research explores the meanings embedded in cultural elements such as Komodo statues, woven fabrics, Sasando musical instruments, photographs of Flores residents, a map of Flores Island, and the collaboration of traditional music with modern genres. Data were collected through direct observation of both exterior and interior decorations, as well as customer interviews to understand their responses to the presented cultural elements. The findings indicate that Flores' cultural elements play a significant role in shaping the café's identity and appeal. Analysis based on Consumer Brandscape shows that cultural signs create an authentic and unique impression, while emotional territories indicate that these cultural elements build emotional connections with customers through a comfortable and dynamic atmosphere. There is no cultural tension between traditional and modern elements; instead, they harmoniously blend, particularly in interior design and the music experience. From the perspective of cultural categories, Kafe Bajawa successfully positions itself as a venue that embodies Flores' cultural heritage in a modern context. Data triangulation through customer interviews confirms that the displayed cultural elements reinforce the café’s image as a space rich in local identity while remaining comfortable for an urban audience. The success of this strategy lies in balancing culture and modernity, creating an engaging experience that fosters customer loyalty

This article aims to present the findings of both quantitative and qualitative research conducted among a sample of Moroccan children, adolescents, and young people. The primary goal of this research is to promote the improvement of accessibility for children, adolescents, and young people to sexual and reproductive health rights and services in a context of diversity through television. To conduct this research, we chose a sample of 200 units providing quantitative data, and others providing qualitative data, including 10 semi-structured interviews. The selection of this sample is based on a range of different sociodemographic characteristics (gender, age, education level, marital status, activity etc.). Moreover, there is an urgent need for sexual and reproductive health rights among young people and teenagers due to their growing awareness of its importance in addressing a range of negative aspects within society. This is linked to the fact that most of the interviewees have a education level. In contrast, there is a significant absence of these rights in media content on Moroccan television

PT Vale's Security and Social Conflict Management Strategy in the Face of Land Disputes and Natural Resource Security Risks

In this study, attention is given to the strategies PT Vale Indonesia Tbk uses to handle security and conflict management when tackling land disputes and resource security problems in East Luwu, South Sulawesi. Even with protective measures set in place, such as security policies, forums, and CSR, disagreements remain between the company and local people. Combining Constructivism and the Right to Development, this study investigates the role of conflicts, which may not only be caused by weak laws or processes, but also by disagreements over meaning, old grievances, and beliefs of injustice. I conducted semi-structured interviews with leaders, NGO activists, people from PT Vale, and government officials, in addition to examining documents and paying attention during meetings and observational activities. It is shown that the strategies listed by PT Vale do not fully line up with the experiences of indigenous and local communities. A lot of people consider security to be suppressive, and many think that government engagement initiatives are not inclusive enough. It is often believed that CSR schemes are meant to balance things, rather than truly transform them. This research introduces the idea of corporate conflict management being grounded in norms and cultures, stressing the relevance of being legitimate, including everyone’s voice, and respecting cultural backgrounds. It states that the best way to resolve conflicts sustainably is to go from technocratic rule to shared governance and focusing on rights. If extractive activities are carried out without this transformation, they may keep causing resistance and unrest in East Luwu

Legal Politics and Analysis on the Extension of the Term of Office of Village Heads in Indonesia

This study aims to analyze the term of office of village heads according to Law Number 3 of 2024 and examine the legal politics behind the extension of the term of office. The change in the term of office from six years and three periods to eight years and two periods has raised pros and cons in the community, as well as raised questions about the direction of national legal policy. This research uses a normative juridical approach with a descriptive-analytical method, through a literature study of laws and regulations, legal documents, and scientific literature. The results of the study show that the policy of extending the term of office of village heads is more political than based on objective evaluation. Pressure from the village head association became the dominant factor in the legislation process, which showed the strong influence of group interests in the formation of laws. In theory, this policy is contrary to the principles of power limitation and constitutional democracy. In addition, the extension of the term of office has the potential to weaken community supervision, hinder leadership regeneration, and increase the risk of abuse of authority at the village level. Thus, the extension of the term of office of the village head not only has legal consequences, but also has an impact on the quality of local democracy. A critical evaluation of the political direction of law formation is needed so that it remains based on the principles of the state of law, democracy, and the protection of the interests of the village community

Law enforcement against illegal cultivation in the Watershed area is a significant challenge, especially in Simalungun Regency. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of law enforcement against illegal cultivation, the obstacles faced, and the policies needed to overcome these problems. The research method used is a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document studies. The results of the study show that law enforcement efforts have been carried out through repressive approaches, such as joint operations and legal sanctions, as well as preventive approaches, such as socialization and education. However, its effectiveness is still hampered by limited resources, lack of coordination between agencies, resistance of local communities, and lack of accurate data related to watershed management. Some of the recommended strategic policies include capacity building for law enforcement officials, community empowerment through alternative livelihood programs, strengthening technology-based monitoring systems, and participatory approaches in policy formulation. The implementation of holistic and inclusive policies is expected to create a balance between environmental conservation and improving community welfare. This research emphasizes that sustainable watershed management requires synergy between legal, social, and technological approaches. Thus, law enforcement efforts are not only able to overcome legal problems but also build collective awareness to preserve the environment
