El ruido del barrio como discurso ideológico del espacio colectivo: La circulación de las emociones locales a través de las artesanas
No full textSara Ahmed addresses the construction of collectives through the circulation of affects. With this in mind, and given the gentrification threatening various regions, the discourse emerging from localism and, more specifically, from neighborhoods could be considered counter-hegemonic. After all, it concerns a reality that affects the identity of the people who inhabit these spaces and, in turn, their conception of the world and work, especially manual and artisanal labor. Therefore, the main objective of this text is to ideologically analyze the discourse of the San Julián neighborhood\u27s artisan association in Seville; an association of women who champion the neighborhood\u27s sounds and defend the identity of its people, despite the gentrification affecting their area. To this end, a focus group was conducted with the artisans of Recoveco Market who are in charge of the association\u27s communication. This revealed aspects such as the circulation of affects among them and towards the neighborhood in which they live, as well as their conception of feminism and how it influences their shared reality.Sara Ahmed aborda la construcción de colectivos a través de la circulación de afectos. Conociendo esto, y ante la gentrificación que acecha a diferentes regiones, el discurso que emana del localismo y, más aún, de los barrios podría considerarse contrahegemónico. Al fin y al cabo, se trata de una realidad que afecta a la identidad de las personas que habitan los espacios y, a su vez, a la concepción que estos tienen sobre el mundo y el trabajo, sobre todo, el manual, el artesano. Por ello, el presente texto tiene como objetivo principal analizar ideológicamente el discurso que tiene la asociación de artesanas del barrio de San Julián de Sevilla; una asociación de mujeres que abanderan los ruidos del barrio y defienden la identidad de su gente, a pesar de la gentrificación que vive su espacio. Para ello, se realizó un focus group con las artesanas de Recoveco Market que se encargan de la comunicación de la asociación. Gracias a esto, se ha determinado cuestiones como la circulación de afectos entre ellas y para con el barrio en el que habitan, así como la concepción que tienen del feminismo y de cómo esto intercede en su realidad común
Acolhimento aos migrantes: integração das crianças migrantes em contexto escolar
No full textThe present work aims to identify the strategies adopted by teachers to promote the integration of migrant children and to know the perception of migrant students of the 2nd and 3rd cycle regarding their school integration. A semi-structured interview was applied to the students and teachers of the Benavente school group and through the analysis of the content we were able to highlight that most of the students feel integrated in the school and their reception is carried out in a very positive way, emphasizing that in order to feel more integrated, the classes of the subject of Portuguese Non-Native Language should be reinforced. The difficulties experienced by the teachers are in line with some of the students\u27 difficulties, namely the language barrier, which limits socialization and consequently integration. However, the concerns of a full, effective and integrative integration are common purposes of the educational community.O presente trabalho tem como objetivos identificar as estratégias adotadas pelos professores para promover a integração das crianças migrantes e conhecer a perceção dos alunos migrantes do 2º e 3º ciclo quanto à sua integração escolar. Foi aplicada uma entrevista semiestruturada aos alunos e aos professores do agrupamento de escolas de Benavente e através da análise do conteúdo conseguimos destacar que a maioria dos alunos sente-se integrado na escola e o seu acolhimento é realizado de uma forma bastante positiva, dando ênfase a que para se sentirem mais integrados deveriam ser reforçadas as aulas da disciplina de Português Língua Não Materna. As dificuldades sentidas por parte dos professores vão de encontro com algumas dificuldades dos alunos, nomeadamente a barreira linguística, que limita a socialização e consequentemente a integração. No entanto, as preocupações de uma integração plena, eficaz e integradora são propósitos comuns da comunidade educativa

Full text linkImmigration in Spain, despite its social antiquity, is constantly on the rise, but the immigrant community continues to lack protection and security during the migration process. This group has social, economic, political and bureaucratic limitations that have repercussions when integrating into society, such as, for example, the existing social prejudices and stereotypes, but all this increases when, in addition to being an immigrant, this person presents some functional diversity. Thus, from a mixed methodology, this study evidences the reality of this group of immigrants with functional diversity with the aim of making visible and evidencing the impact of the discipline of Social Work as a support network in the intervention with them and its effectiveness in improving their intervention and quality of life.La inmigración en España, a pesar de ser una realidad social presente a lo largo de la Historia, está experimentando un crecimiento continuo; sin embargo, el colectivo de inmigrantes aún no cuenta con la protección y seguridad adecuadas durante su proceso migratorio. Este colectivo se enfrenta a limitaciones sociales, económicas, políticas y burocráticas que repercuten a la hora de integrarse en la sociedad, como, por ejemplo, los prejuicios y estereotipos sociales existentes. Esta situación se vuelve aún más compleja cuando la persona es inmigrante y además tiene alguna diversidad funcional. Así pues, desde una metodología mixta, este estudio evidencia la realidad de este colectivo de inmigrantes con diversidad funcional con el objetivo de visibilizar a través de los resultados el impacto que tiene la disciplina del Trabajo Social como red de apoyo en la intervención con estos y su eficacia repercutiendo en la mejora de la calidad de vida

No full textThe aim of this paper is to investigate the theme of gender in Benjamin\u27s texts when his thinking had already been impacted by both surrealism and Marxism. In Baudelaire and Modernity and in Passages, Benjamin addresses the figure of the lesbian as an ideal of virility and the prostitute as the embodiment of commodity fetishism, the regulating principle of society, according to Marx. The aim of this text is to understand to what extent these themes are consistent with the utopia of an emancipated society, insofar as gender binarity is also a form of oppression. It concludes that the dialectical images of gender are a central and not marginal device in his philosophy, despite the fact that much of Benjamin\u27s reception disregards them.Este artigo tem como objetivo investigar a temática de gênero que se inscreve nos textos de Benjamin, quando seu pensamento já fora impactado tanto pelo surrealismo quanto pelo marxismo. Em Baudelaire e a modernidade e nas Passagens, Benjamin aborda a figura da lésbica enquanto um ideal de virilidade e a prostituta enquanto corporificação do fetichismo da mercadoria, princípio regulador da sociedade, segundo Marx. A partir disso, o desiderato deste texto é compreender em que medida tais temáticas se coadunam com a utopia de uma sociedade emancipada, na medida em que a binariedade de gênero também é uma forma de opressão. Conclui-se que as imagens dialéticas de gênero são um dispositivo central e não marginal de sua filosofia, apesar de que grande parte da recepção benjaminiana as desconsidera
Fending Off Ambiguity at All Costs: Why Women Are Attracted to the Far Right
No full textWhy do women support far-right leaders, movements, and parties, given their anti-feminist agenda that perpetuates women’s oppression? Women are drawn to the far right because they have a character structure that cannot admit ambiguity. Those who find ambiguity threatening tend to think in rigid categories, which implies their acceptance of binary oppositions, their acceptance of black-and-white solutions, and their total and unqualified acceptance or rejection of other people. In contrast, women with a character structure that can admit ambiguity are less prone to fall for the propaganda tactics of the far right. The far right effectively lures women with a character structure that cannot admit ambiguity to the far right because it offers them rigid binaries, including rigid male/female, friend/enemy, and ingroup/outgroup binaries that allow such women to fend off any ambiguity, which is overwhelming for them. In this paper, I draw on the work on fascism of the Austrian psychoanalytic thinker Elke Frenkel Brunswick and critical theory to provide a psychoanalytically inspired framework that helps explain why any ambiguity is overwhelming for such women and why they must fend off ambiguity at all costs.¿Por qué las mujeres apoyan a líderes, movimientos y partidos de extrema derecha, dada su agenda antifeminista que perpetúa la opresión de la mujer? Las mujeres se sienten atraídas por la extrema derecha porque tienen una estructura de carácter que no puede admitir la ambigüedad. Quienes consideran la ambigüedad como una amenaza tienden a pensar en categorías rígidas, lo que les lleva a aceptar oposiciones binarias, soluciones en blanco y negro, así como la aceptación o el rechazo total y sin matices de otras personas. Por el contrario, las mujeres con una estructura de carácter que puede admitir la ambigüedad son menos propensas a caer en las tácticas propagandísticas de la extrema derecha. La extrema derecha atrae eficazmente a las mujeres con una estructura de carácter que no puede admitir la ambigüedad porque les ofrece oposiciones binarias rígidas, tales como hombre/mujer, amigo/enemigo y grupo interno/grupo externo, que permiten a esas mujeres eludir cualquier ambigüedad, lo que les resulta abrumador. En este artículo, me baso en el trabajo sobre el fascismo de la pensadora psicoanalítica austriaca Elke Frenkel Brunswick y en la teoría crítica para ofrecer un marco de inspiración psicoanalítica que ayude a explicar por qué cualquier ambigüedad es abrumadora para estas mujeres y por qué deben evitarla a toda costa
”Montaña gruñona”: Atribuciones de agencia por parte de los espectadores a un cortometraje de ficción climática
No full textEnvironmental narratives—such as the genre of climate fiction—have been the topic of much theorization and discussion for their potential to enrich human ways of thinking about the nonhuman environment. In this paper, we discuss the responses of a small sample of participants who watched a short climate fiction narrative, the trailer to a documentary called Not Ok: A Little Movie about a Small Glacier at the End of the World. Using discourse analysis, we focus on how participants construct agency for the nonhuman narrator of the story—a mountain and former volcano named Ok that was once the site of Okjökull (Ok glacier). Participants’ responses reveal how simple nonhuman agency becomes woven into more complex constructions when the narrative form is discussed. Our analysis shows that only participants who took the perspective of the mountain narrator were able to attribute complex forms of agency to the figure of the mountain and the story it told. Participants who did not relate to Ok mountain as narrator relayed simpler forms of nonhuman agency. Representing nonhuman agency in the subject of the mountain and animating that figure with a human voice (of narration) is a particular narrative strategy; in this study, we were interested in understanding how such a figure might challenge simple tropes of nature’s agency and invite more complex ways of conceiving of nonhuman agency. The climate fiction/documentary trailer also led viewers to ponder the destructive anthropogenic impacts on nonhuman environments. Some participants took the material to be merely an environmental message without engaging the nonhuman narrative aspects. The anthropomorphizing of Ok mountain’s story, as in the video material in our case study, may, we argue, limit interaction-oriented accounts of the entanglement of (non)human agencies. Finally, we conclude, many participants’ tendency to understand environmental stories as (solely) moral messages presents a challenge to both climate fiction and narrative communications.Las narrativas medioambientales, como el género de ficción climática, representan un tema de gran interés a nivel de teoría y discusión respecto a su potencial para enriquecer formas humanas de pensamiento sobre el medio ambiente no humano. En este artículo, presentamos las respuestas de un pequeño grupo de participantes que vieron una corta narrativa de ficción climática, el tráiler de un documental sobre el cambio climático denominado Not Ok: A Little Movie about a Small Glacier at the End of the World. Utilizando el análisis del discurso, nos hemos enfocado en cómo los participantes crearon agencia para el narrador no humano de la historia—una montaña y antiguo volcán llamado OK, que fue una vez el emplazamiento de Okjökull (el glaciar Ok). Las respuestas de los participantes indican cómo la simpleza de la agencia no humana se convierte en construcciones más complejas cuando se debate la narrativa. Nuestro análisis demuestra que sólo los participantes que adoptaron la perspectiva de la montaña Ok y que parecían identificarla como la narradora de la historia construían una agencia más compleja de la montaña. Los participantes que no identificaban la montaña Ok como la narradora expresaban formas más simples de agencia no humana. Representar la agencia no humana en la montaña y animar la figura con una voz humana (de narración) es una estrategia narrativa particular; en este estudio, nos interesaba comprender cómo esa figura podría desafiar la simpleza de los tropos de la agencia de la naturaleza y dar lugar formas más complejas de concebir la agencia no humana. El tráiler también llevó a los espectadores a reflexionar sobre los impactos antropogénicos destructivos en entornos no humanos. Algunos participantes interpretaron el material simplemente como un mensaje medioambiental sin considerar los aspectos narrativos no humanos. La antropomorfización de la historia de la montaña Ok, como en el caso del material audiovisual, puede limitar los relatos orientados a la interacción sobre la implicación de las agencias (no) humanas. Por último, concluimos que la tendencia de muchos participantes de entender las historias ambientales como (únicamente) mensajes morales plantea un desafío tanto a la ficción climática como a las comunicaciones narrativas climáticas.
