    No full text
Given that water is a conditioning and irreplaceable element to the existence of life on Earth, equally present and future populations also depend on water to ensure their continuity and economic activities, biological and sociocultural factors that develop. Based on a review of the scientific literature available in EBSCO and Web of Science databases, this study aimed to investigate and discuss the existing relationships between culture and education in the context of water resources management. We conducted a systematic literature review technique in conjunction with a bibliometric analysis with the support of Rayyan, Microsoft Excel, and VOSviewer software. For the data collection, we evaluated the sample regarding the number of annual publications, the mapping of publications, and the relations network between the keywords created to identify new trends and a research agenda. The results highlighted the complexity of the relationship between culture, education, and water resources, revealing the need to deepen and advance research on the subject. In the analysis, we identified the need to consider man as the leading actor in a new structure in which education will be the leading mobilizer for constructing a new cultural perspective on water resource management

Patent filing is considered an index of a country's industrial development, it contributes to the strengthening of research, innovation and production of technological knowledge, that is, patents are considered relevant indicators to assess the country's ability to transform scientific knowledge into products or technological innovations. Thus, the study aimed to investigate whether scientific advancement, R&D and innovation in research institutions or companies are linked to the evolution of the quantity of patent filings in the area of functional food production. The methodology had a descriptive and quantitative nature, in relation to the study variables, they were obtained as follows: a) Patent variable was obtained from Espacenet; b) Scientific articles obtained from the Web of Science (WOS) database; c) The data on the variables (Innovation Index) were obtained by accessing the countryeconomy.com website; d) The variables (Manufactured Value Added, R&D, High Technology Exports) obtained from The World Bank DATA database. The data collection of the variables began in January/2021 and ended on March 22, 2021. To identify the correlation of these variables, Spearman's correlation coefficient was used, and for a better interpretation of the data and answers, the research hypotheses were analyzed from the scatter plot using the logarithmic transformation of the patent variable. The results and discussion showed a weak correlation ρ = 0.3038 between scientific production (articles) x patent filing aimed at the production of functional foods; positive correlation and a moderate degree (ρ = 0.6413) regarding investments in research and development x patent filing and a positive and weak correlation (ρ = 0.2903) regarding the innovation index x quantitative patents. In the final considerations, it is essential that governments provide the right and necessary incentives to foster the development and dissemination of ideas by the private sector whose objective is to promote a political, economic and institutional environment that encourages companies to invest in science, technology, R&D, intellectual property and innovation

ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION: THE 3R's (THREE R’S) IN THE FIRST YEAR OF FUNDAMENTAL EDUCATION

    No full text
We can observe that, at present, the social body suffers from the dilemma of the excess of the inadequate corollary creation of solid waste. This excessive amount of waste has been worrisome because, if not properly collected and disposed of, it causes serious consequences to health and the environment. Thus, the reluctance of the non-management of solid waste is numerous and includes environmental, economic, social, and health aspects. In this scenario, it is clear that waste cannot be completely eliminated; however, it is possible to decrease it by reducing the amount of waste and recycling as much as possible. It is true that the contemporary world is characterized by an almost constant state of crisis, however, to recycle or reuse has the sense to restrain what is used, to limit waste and residues, to protect the environment, to conserve and defend the ecosystem. For this, there is a need to moderate this expressed consumption, not only to use what is necessary, but also to reuse what is possible. The optics of the "3R's" concept aims to contain the ecosystemic shock with applicability to the development of new products. In this sense, it is essential to emphasize education, as an agent of change, for the development of people into informed and active citizens. In view of the above, the objective of this work was to observe, the perception of children in the first year of elementary school about the environment to, subsequently, make them aware in a critical and reflective way of how we relate to each other and how we can improve our environment through the reduction and reuse of waste. The concept of the three Rs in this case study was used, therefore, to clarify and promote reflection regarding excessive shopping, the reuse of what would go to waste such as cans, cardboard, bottles among others, and finally, to offer the possibility of converting items no longer used into other creations. This study contributed to the awareness and preservation of the environment and its didactic-pedagogical sequence promoted progression in the visuomotor, motor, motor, playful, affective, and critical-reflexive aspects, for the promotion of the acquisition and strengthening of competencies and skills

Protoporphyrin IX Associated with Visible Light for the Treatment of Trichophyton rubrum Causing Onychomycosis - An Updated Review

    No full text
Systemic medications used during the treatment of onychomycosis caused by Trichophyton rubrum may have relapse, making them costly and insignificant for the patient. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is an advantageous therapeutic option for disease control, mainly due to the absence of risk of microbial resistance. The action of PDT is combined by three elements: photosensitizer (PS), visible light (VL) and molecular oxygen, leading to the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) or singlet oxygen formation (1O2), both ROS (type I mechanism) as 1O2 (type II mechanism) induce damage and death to microbial cells. This research was proposed as a study through a non-systematic review, to investigate the action of PS "Protoporphyrin IX" (Pp IX) associated with visible light on T. rubrum, contemplating clinical and relevant data regarding the treatment of onychomycosis by PDT. PubMed survey was conducted from June 2021 to April 2022. The research strategy included clinical trials, randomized trials, systematic reviews, meta-analyses and reviews in English. Pp IX has affinity for T. rubrum, which is justified by the incorporation of Pp IX into the cell membrane, which led to inhibition by LV irradiation. Thus, the photodynamic process of Pp IX may lead to cell death by type I and II mechanisms. The data found are promising, however, new studies in vitro and in vivo are suggested, since few studies have been found related to the theme

Granger causality of Carbon allowances and Carbon offsets in the Korean carbon market.

    No full text
In the Korean carbon market system, KAU is the most representative Carbon allowance, and KOC is an external project allowance that can be exchanged for offset allowance. In the carbon market, these two are traded at 1KAU = 1KOC, but the values of the two products do not match due to various factors. In this study, the stability of the two prices was tested and the cointegration relationship was investigated. While measuring the Granger causality of the two variables, it was found that there was a change in the causality of the two variables in the first and second transition periods of the Korean carbon market. This appears to be due to the difference between the first and second operating periods for the upper limit of the use of offsetting allowances for proof of compliance

In recent years, the interest in the propagation of native forest species has intensified with the aim of recovering degraded areas and the restoration of the landscape. As such, some species of Fabaceae are considered promising woody species for planting in reforestation programs and agroforestry systems. In the present paper, the authors complement the need for studies related to secondary metabolites of the woody species Hymenaea courbaril L. Platymiscium ulei Harms and Hymenolobium petraeum Ducke. Thus, the phytochemical study of H. courbaril led to the isolation and identification of diterpenes eperuic acid (1) and methyl eperuate (2); triterpenes oleanolic acid (3) and hederagenin (8); flavonoides quercetin (4), fisetinediol (5), liquiritigenin (6) and 3-methoxy-5,7,3',5'-tetrahydroxyflavanonol (7). P. ulei gave pterocarpane homopterocarpin (9) and coumarin scoparone (10); H. petraeum gave isoflavan sativan (11), in addition to the amino acid tyrosine (12). Flavonoids were the predominant constituents in the three species of Fabaceae; however, the presence of isoflavonoids in Platymiscium ulei and Hymenolobium petraeum is probably associated with the resistance of this high density wood to pathogenic fungi

Introduction: Sickle cell anemia due to recent scientific evidence suggests that individuals with disease are considered a risk group and SARS-CoV-2 and spreads rapidly in this group of patients with diseases due to lack of inherited immunity, has a high lethality rate among young people and children and patients with associated comorbidities such as Diabetes Mellitus. Objective: to analyze the profile of patients with sickle cell anemia and their immunological motivations for worsening in positive cases of COVID-19 from a systematic review. Results: Initially, 217 articles were identified, of which 213 were removed because they were not related to the theme of the review, or because they were duplicated or did not have the abstract. The 04 selected articles were classified into two thematic axes to be performed the analysis. Discussion:  This systematic review study is the first with sickle cell anemia and COVID-19 in the adolescent population with a limited resource configuration that shows the inherent need in the management of both diseases. However, in this systematic review, the four included studies showed a favorable evolution of the infectious process by COVID-19, and deaths occurred in adolescent patients who concomitantly had multiple comorbidities, for example, DM. Conclusion: It was found in this systematic review study that COVID-19 infection may accentuate the presence of vasculopathy in patients with sickle cell anemia and may increase pain to varying degrees
