    No full text
This study evaluated the antioxidant capacity and the genotoxic and antigenotoxic effects of the fixed oil of B. excelsa Bonpl. in peripheral blood of Swiss mice. For the antioxidant capacity, were used the β-carotene/linoleic acid and DPPH methods. In the genotoxicity assay, were used healthy, 6-7 week old male Swiss mice, and there were six animals per group. For the genotoxic test, animals were treated with different concentrations of B. excelsa (500, 1.000 and 2.000 mg/kg body weight bw) in 0.5 mL orally. For the antigenotoxic test, animals were treated with predetermined concentrations, followed by intraperitoneal injection of doxorubicin (DXR 15 mg/kg bw) in 0.3 ml, in addition to the negative group (water) and dimethylsulfoxide (200 μL). Peripheral blood samples were collected 24 and 48 hours after the treatments. The frequency of micronucleated polychromatic erythrocytes (MNPCEs) was obtained from the analysis of 2.000 MNPCEs/animal. After data analysis, the conclusion was that the fixed oil of B. excelsa showed excellent protective activity by the β-carotene/linoleic acid method, demonstrated absence of genotoxic effect, and significant antigenotoxic effect according to the protocols and treatments performed in this study

The current technological configuration added to the present social demands in health make it necessary to review the teaching-learning methodologies applied during the graduation of the medical professional. Those necessities are addressed by the National Curricular Guidelines, which preconize the adoption of methodologies that stimulate the student's autonomy and put the faculty in compliance with the current situation. To obtain a panorama about the medical students’ perception in a college of a inland city of the São Paulo state in relation to the Active Teaching-LearningMethodologies (ATLM) this cross-sectional, descriptive-exploratory, quantitative analysis was carried out where the participants were students of the Medical School of São José do Rio Preto - FAMERP in 2017. Through a mixed questionnaire, that is, with open and closed questions, data were collected necessary to reach the objective. A total of 364 students participated, of whom 70.9% agreed they would like to use ATLM more often. Regarding the role of the student: 80.7% agreed that ATLM stimulate the study; 73.3% agreed that group activities support learning; 44.2% disagreed that students are not prepared for ATLM due to lack of maturity and 51.1% agreed that they are unprepared to use ATLM for being accustomed to traditional teaching methods. Data show that, even though they do not attend classes with ATLM frequently, the students can be very interested in execute them. Emphasis is given to his intense perception of learning in these moments. The student profile that compares with the ATLM is the one that knows them, that is, those who have had contact with such methodologies want to use them more frequently. In addition, students consider that the teachers’ role should be that of a learning facilitator, who guides the studies so that the academic goals are achieved

Mozambique, like several other countries in the region and all over the world, faces the dilemma of the need to guarantee the minimum learning conditions for students during the state of emergency due to COVID-19. It is in this sense, which the present study aimed to analyze the perceptions of students of the Pedagogical University of Maputo (UP-Maputo) in the use of electronic platforms as a resource to support classroom teaching during the State of Emergency. The research had a quanti-qualitative character, where the analysis and control of the different variables was foreseen. It consisted of collecting information on the objectives of operationalizing the teaching and learning process in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, through the application of an electronically administered questionnaire. A sample of 1787 students was obtained, corresponding to 13.61% of the universe of students enrolled in the year 2020. The survey showed that most of the students, around 64% used some electronic platform to support their teaching and on-site learning process, after the declaration of a state of emergency the percentage of users of electronic platforms increased to 100%, highlighting the use of WhatsApp to the detriment of the others (SIGIUP, MOODLE® Institutional, Google Classroom and ZOOM®). The device they use, because 95% of the students access the platforms using their mobile phones, justifies the massive use of WhatsApp. Regarding the use of different electronic platforms, most of the students revealed a platform usage that varies from “Many Times” and “Always”. Students refer to the need for training in the use of the different platforms made available to them to support their teaching and learning process. The research made it possible to conclude that students are aware of the need to appropriate the new form of teaching they are subject to, despite having significant financial difficulties in the acquisition of internet packages and in the use of some of the electronic platforms made available for learning

In Brazil, Public Research Institutions (PRI) are agents that promote innovation and technological production. The role of these institutions in social and regional development is to provide scientific and technological production and make it available for productive arrangements. This study aims to relate the evaluation and valuation of patents with the processes of Technology Transfer in Public Research Institutions in Brazil. To justify the execution of the study, it is observed that it is necessary to improve the use of technologies created in PRI so that society can take advantage of the advances promoted in scientific research, and so that the distance between industry and academia is minimized. We researched 30 Public Research Institutions, in five variables collected on the platform of INPI (National Institute of Industrial Property), ESPACENET (European Patent Office) and BDTD (Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations). In possession of the data, the Shapiro-Wilk test and the Spearman correlation coefficient were used used to analyze them. The R software was used to apply the statistical methods. For data discussion, the reports of FORMICT (Information Form on Intellectual Property Policy of Scientific and Technological Institutions) were analyzed to guide the arguments. The data did not show normality and have moderate and strong correlations, the significance of the correlations is strong or very strong. It is believed that the patent evaluation and valuation processes have space for improvement and thus can enhance the Transfer of Technologies of PRI
