Technical and economic feasibility study for offshore transshipment operation: Case study for the port of Vila do Conde / PA

    No full text
Intercontinental cargo transport is carried out mainly through the waterway modal, increasing the number of vessels and the deadweight of ships. This means that onshore ports cannot stand the cargo demands and, to make them competitive in this reality, a very high investment is needed, and their expansion can produce serious environmental impact. Thus, it is necessary to search for alternatives that facilitate the flow of vessels in the regional and world scenario. Hence, the present work conducts a technical and economic feasibility study of a direct offshore transshipment operation of solid bulk cargo of vegetable origin at the Organized Port of Vila do Conde, in Brazil, using the Net Present Value (NPV) methods, Internal Rate of Return (IRR) and Payback. In the study, three scenarios were considered, each of which had its particularity related to the operating life and the amount of cargo handled. Therefore, it was noted that offshore transshipment is more viable in two scenarios – the project's useful life is up to 14 years, so that the investment of capital in an onshore installation is more viable. Furthermore, it was found that, only in the worst-case scenario, offshore transshipment overlapped the other activity in any period of its useful life

Pandemic impacts in Natal, one of the main tourist destinations in Brazil

    No full text
The coronavirus has impacted different sectors of society. The national and regional economy were highly weakened. In the state capital alone, around 300 companies closed in 2020. More than 87% of events in the same year were cancelled. Tourists visiting Natal / RN decreased sharply and this meant that hotels, bars, restaurants, and other activities had to suffer losses that had never occurred. This scientific article was carried out from studies that showed the impacts of the pandemic period on the Natal economy, found in statistical data from research institutes that demonstrated, in numbers, the economic losses of the tourism sector. These data served as the basis for the theoretical foundation of the analysis of several authors on the subject that, in this bibliographical, documentary and quali-quantitative research, showed different results. Among them, the need for solid and robust public policies for the reheating of the sector in 2021, when the prospects are for a decrease in the unemployment rate and an increase in financial assets, both fundamental for Brazil's GDP

Characteristics and problems of unplugged computer science curriculum for young children: comparative and practical research based on the curriculum in four countries

    No full text
With the progress of computer science education in recent years, more and more educators have brought attention to computer science education among young children. Among all these strategies, the unplugged form has been shown to be more effective in teaching. However, recent studies have focused more on the impact of unplugged computer science courses on young children and less on whether these courses are appropriate for the developmental stage of young children. Therefore, this research summarized the curriculum characteristics by comparing different series of unplugged courses for young children from four nations. Then, in a 7-day workshop conducted in China's urban areas, we explored the issues that arise in the implementation of these courses. This research reveals that, although the existing courses cater to a young age range, four issues can still be found, including difficulty, ability difference, too much cooperation, and emphasis on abstraction. Some of these issues may be handled by instructors, while others need consideration of the connection between curriculum design and the physical and cognitive development levels of young children. Furthermore, this research explored the acceptance of unplugged computer science among Chinese young children as well as its impact on their computational thinking level, achieving positive results

DETERMINANTS OF THE DEGREE OF INNOVATION IN THE INDUSTRIES LISTED ON THE B3

    No full text
The study aims to identify the determinants of the degree of innovation of industries listed on the Brazilian Stock Exchange - B3. To this end, it used as sample 129 industries that trade their shares on the B3. From the principal component analysis, it was found that the innovation indicators are combined into two distinct factors. Therefore, it can be said that the degree of innovation of the firms takes into account the combination of indicators referring to the innovation strategies of exploitation and exploration, and, by encompassing two distinct factors, it is valid to mention that the degree of innovation has a two-dimensional character, suggesting the existence of a synergy between the innovation strategies

THE DECOLONIAL PERSPECTIVE OF THE THEORY OF CULTURE FROM THE BLACK FEMINIST STUDY OF LÉLIA GONZALEZ

    No full text
This research aims to investigate the criticism of Eurocentric thinking and modernity from the authors Terry Eagleton and Lélia González. In the course of this, the approach of colonial structures of domination that still persist in society will be approached. It is observed that many requirements that characterize this domination come from patriarchy in a capitalist system, whose roles and/or identities are occupied by individuals such as the black population, indigenous peoples and women. Thus, the theories of Terry Eagleton, Nelson Maldonado-Torres, Aníbal Quijano and more precisely, Lélia González will be discussed, since the perspective of the black woman and her identity constructed in a manipulated way, with direct influence of the patriarchal/capitalist/colonial/modern world-system is the primary point of this study. To this end, we point out, through a theoretical and integrative review, decolonial thinking in the Theory of Culture, promoting the elucidation of the main concepts, ideas and debates proposed by the authors and authors mentioned

This paper aims to analyze the feasibility of implementing a didactic sequence for the teaching and learning process of Combinatorial Analysis, using Cryptography as an educational tool for High School. For this, a project was applied in the second semester of 2017, lasting 26 class hours, in a class of the 2nd year of high school, composed of 22 students from a public school in the interior of São Paulo State - Brazil. This teaching proposal appropriated Didactic Engineering as a Research methodology, which enabled the development of a didactic sequence. This in turn was divided into six steps, which approached counting techniques, without the use of formulas, through the encryption of binary numbers, Caesar's code and the encryption present in the film: The Da Vinci Code. This study was exposed by students participating in the project at the school's Science Fair. In order to analyze the learning evolution of the participating students, a pre-test and a post-test were applied, which presented a satisfactory evolution in the students learning. It was also possible to realize, during the project application, the improvement and development of the skills of: teamwork, self-confidence, oratory, time management and autonomy in the pursuit of knowledge

Innovation and intellectual property system: Proposal for a conceptual framework

    No full text
Developing a resilient infrastructure, inclusive and sustainable industrialization and fostering innovation correspond to one of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations (SDG/UN), notably the ninth. However, meeting this result, in the case of developing countries such as Brazil, seems complex, demanding a review of the organization of industrial and innovation systems. Based on that, this study analyzes the panorama of Science, Technology and Innovation in Brazil (ST&I), through indicators. Then, a conceptual framework is presented with suggestions for planning and organizing an innovation and intellectual property system. The analysis of the country's indicators revealed some important challenges in the area of ST&I, such as the need to improve the financing process and better adhesion of national companies to the system of protection of their intellectual property. Additionally, the framework presented a series of suggestive actions for the system's actors, based on 05 main functions: Regulatory, Coordination, Protection of Intellectual Property, Promotion and Production and Operationalization of Knowledge

WHICH SCENARIOS REFLECT INNOVATION AT THE BRAZILIAN UNIVERSITY?

    No full text
Innovation is the result of complex, dynamic relationships. As Science and Technology Institutions in universities are part of the National Innovation System, generating knowledge through Teaching, Research, and Extension and Innovation, our aim is to present the current innovation scenarios in the Brazilian university. Therefore, a qualitative/descriptive study is conducted after a literature review and analysis of documents of public domain. Considering the university hybridism and a timid emergence of new helices contemplating community and environmental sustainability, the findings show that there is a need for increasing approximation between university, companies, governments, communities and environmental issues in order to transfer research, development, innovation and technology to the productive sector and to a sustainable life

    No full text
Introduction: This work has as theme the passenger shelters in Belém, Pará, in the year 2022. Objective: to analyze the conditions of the shelters for bus passengers, based on the assumption of the need to wait for the arrival of the vehicle in a place with accessibility and adequate physical conditions. Methodological procedures: descriptive research, qualitative approach, using the bibliographic and field research, mediated by observation, from images of bus stops, located in Belém, capital of Pará, in 2022, chosen randomly, aiming for greater representativeness of the object under study. Results: It can be inferred that there are not enough shelters to meet the demand since, of the total of 1,513 bus stops, only 570 (38%) have passenger shelters; the conservation conditions are extremely poor, with a lack of coverage and side protection, seats and spatial orientation information. Conclusion: Observing the substantial absence of shelters for bus passengers in Belém, it is suggested that the government, together with the private sector, seek alternatives for implementing such urban equipment, considering the demand for buses in Belém, as well as the climatic characteristics of the city.

This manuscript discusses some methodologies for achieving professional practice in the 21st century. Whether in the medical, pharmacological, educational, environmental or even technological areas, we have seen that Professionalization has been effective for the formation and respect for plural identities. In this sense, the objective of this paper is to discuss Strategies to become an excellent professional in the burnout society (CHUL-HAN, 2019), in which we start from the method to emotional balance as support. During the structuring and functionality of the subject, it is necessary to recognize its limitations and performance, hence the need to systematize the evidence on the implications and benefits of professionalization, given the entire configuration of its implementation in Brazil. This is a bibliographical and documental research, of an interpretative qualitative nature. With regard to the conditions for the effectiveness of a good professional performance, a mapping of verification of the subjects' practice becomes effective, in which institutional actions arising from/funded by educational policies that are linked to reports and to the researches. Our results pointed to the fact that many criteria need to be rethought and put into practice, including reformulations about leisure and personal satisfaction in the midst of the hyper-demanding of modern times
