OBJECTIVE. To describe the epidemiological profile of donors and recipients of a Human Milk Bank at a referral hospital in the State of Mato Grosso do Sul. METHODS.  This is a descriptive cross-sectional study with retrospective data from the Milk Banks Network system and secondary data from medical records of a tertiary public hospital, between January and December 2017. Descriptive statistics was performed using the Statistic Package for Social Sciences (SPSS®), version 25.0. RESULTS. In 2017, 383 human milk donors were registered, totaling a volume of approximately 614 liters of donated milk. Of this total, 88.51% donors lived in the city of Campo Grande, state capital; 56.40% reported no paid activity; the mean age was 27.45 years; and 79.63% had prenatal care in the public network. Of the 149 recipients, 71.1% (n = 106) were premature with a median gestational age of 34.00 weeks (minimum 21.00 and maximum 42.00); and birth weight with a median of 2225.00 (minimum 660.00 and maximum 5230.00). Also, 61.1% (n = 91) of the recipients weighed less than 2,500 grams and were distributed in: extremely low weight 0.7% (n = 1); very low weight 11.4% (n = 17); low weight 49.0% (n = 73); and normal weight 38.9% (n = 58). CONCLUSION: The donors are young women who had support from the Unified Health System for the prenatal assistance. Among human milk recipients, 61.1% are premature babies weighing less than 2,500 grams

SHARING INFORMATION AND KNOWLEDGE BETWEEN BRAZILIAN RESEARCHERS

    No full text
The CIC among Brazilian researchers refers to the activity of providing information and knowledge that enables the joint work of experts for the resolution of problems and development of new ideas or theories, which usually result in joint scientific publications. Thus, the objective of this article is to elaborate a model that relates the factors that influence the diffusion of the CIC among Brazilian researchers in the modality "productivity" of CNPq, as mechanisms for generating innovations and new knowledge, measured by scientific production. As for the method, in a first moment a bibliographic research was carried out to evaluate existing models in the literature regarding the determining factors of the ICC on the capacity of innovation and generation of innovations in the HEIs, especially in the research groups. Next, the structural and measurement model was elaborated and validated using an online questionnaire for data collection, with five-point likert questions, sent to researchers in the productivity modality in research, levels SR, 2, 1A, 1B and 1C of CNPq.  The questionnaire was answered by 262 researchers and the collected data were analyzed using the SEM analysis instrument based on PLS. The results found indicated that the hypotheses of the model were accepted. The results revealed that the individual characteristics of the researchers, the organizational characteristics and the technology contribute to the CIC, which in turn favors the generation of publications and promotion of knowledge. In addition, individual characteristics and publications contribute to the advancement of innovation

    No full text
Objective: Analyzes the frequency of cancer in children and adolescents in the State of Rondônia / Western Amazon (Brazil), attended by public health services. Method: This is a descriptive, quantitative and cross-sectional study. We used an instrument developed by Paraguassú-Chaves et al [24], semi-structured, containing a series of variables, such as sex, age, histological types, types of cancer by location of the primary tumor, lymphomas, leukemias, clinical stage of the disease, diagnosis and previous treatment, among others. We asked the Research Ethics Committee to waive the Free and Informed Consent Term, because the study did not require patient intervention or collection of biological material and there was no possibility of constraints for patients and their families. Results: From 122 cases, 56 (45.9%) were female and 66 (55.1%) were male. Regarding the distribution of patients according to the age group, 38 (31.1%) were younger than 4 years, 21 (17.2%), 5 to 9 years, 24 (19.7%) from 10 to 14 and 39 (32.0%) from 15 to 19. The most frequent histological types by gender were myeloproliferative leukemias and myelodysplastic diseases with 39.31% of new cases, reticuloendothelial lymphomas and neoplasms 11.96%, carcinomas and other epithelial neoplasms 11.96% of cases and CNS and several cranial intra-neoplasms and intraspinal with 11.11% of new cases. Leukemia in the hematopoietic and reticuloendothelial system (C42) is the most frequent cancer in children and adolescents, with 46.2% of cancers in the studied period. 20.5% of the cases do not know the stage of the cancer and 79.5% of the patients do not have information about the stage of the disease. 99.38% of pediatric cancer cases are referred by the single public health system - SUS and only 0.11% non-SUS or private health system. 47.6% of children and adolescents who arrive at the cancer clinic of the public health system have no diagnosis or previous treatment. Conclusions: he results presented are similar to the studies carried out in Rondônia, Brazil and other countries and are in agreement with the studies by Paraguassú-Chaves et al [24], Paraguassú-Chaves et al [27] and Paraguassú-Chaves et al [28].Considering some parameters and indicators, it can be concluded that childhood cancer in Rondônia is a public health problem

Perspectives on The Teaching Career Beginning in Basic Education: A Case Study

    No full text
This article presents an analysis of the teaching career beginning in Basic Education using the beginning teacher as a reference. The study is based on the theoretical discussions of Gonçalves (2000), Huberman (2000), Guarnieri (2005), Tardif (2008), Darling-Hammond (2014), among others. For methodological development, we used qualitative research (BRASILEIRO, 2013), type case study (MEKSENAS, 2011) with input in ethnomethodology (COULON, 1995). The research was carried out in a public school and had as participants a teacher whose teaching time is less than two years, a principal and a pedagogical coordinator. The data collection techniques were observation, questionnaire, interview and field diary. Data analysis was performed based on Bardin (1977), and interpretation in accordance with Hermeneutics-Dialectics also discussed through Minayo's reflections (1998). The results indicate elements that facilitate the beginning of the teaching profession, such as commitment, respect, profile, self-confidence, among other principles. They also point out difficult elements, such as shyness and practical fragility. They also show the different challenges encountered by the teacher, especially the process of overcoming the dichotomy between training (theory) and professional practice. In general, the research findings show that the entry of the beginner teacher into the school results from a university education based on teaching and research. And, that the beginning of the teaching career explains a context of learning knowledge, characterized by the availability and proactivity inherent in pedagogical work, by the experiences of social relations between students and school professionals that converge to the construction of the teaching professional identity. Therefore, the study expands the reflection on the teaching profession from the perspective of the beginning teacher collaborating to expand this field of knowledge
