Evaluation of the Food Service provided in the 2nd Engineering Group

    No full text
The food system of the Brazilian Armed Forces is governed by specific rules and financed by federal collections. In this context, the research proposes a methodology that allows evaluating the average level of satisfaction of users of the foodservice provided in the Procurement of the 2nd Engineering Group, located in the city of Manaus, capital of Amazonas. Therefore, an online questionnaire was developed and applied, adapted from the model proposed by Barros (2013), using four quality dimensions: (i) product quality; (ii) environmental conditions; (iii) facilities; and (iv) employees. The questionnaire has 19 items distributed among the four dimensions, in which the respondent indicated their level of satisfaction using the 10-point Likert scale. The questionnaire was available for ten days and obtained 105 respondents. Data were analyzed using the mean and standard deviation of dimensions and items. It was observed that the “employees” dimension obtained the best evaluation, and the item with the best performance was “employees' hygiene”. On the other hand, the “facilities” dimension had the worst performance, and the main item that needs improvement is “access to people with special needs”. After analyzing the data, the main conclusion of the survey was that the level of customer satisfaction with the aforementioned food service is “GOOD”. In the end, improvement suggestions were made for five items considered to be the most critical. For future studies, it is suggested to evaluate the level of customer satisfaction with that service after applying the improvement actions suggested in this work

    No full text
The “Igarapé do Quarenta”, a stream in Educandos basin, is categorized today as the "worst" and most polluted of the city Manaus, Amazonas, due to the accumulation of solid waste and contamination by heavy metals along its course. The main objective of this research was to verify the influence of solid waste in critical points of the Igarapé do Quarenta, on the water quality of the stream. The area of solid waste accumulation ("garbage") and the water quality in the stream and around and under the bridges of the Igarapé do Quarenta, between the springs (Armando Mendes and Zumbi neighborhoods) and the mouth (Educandos), in the Amazon "summer" and "winter"," were quantified. Water quality was evaluated at each sampling site. The macroscopic analysis demonstrated its importance for the feasibility diagnosis, finding that two of the three springs found are degraded and disturbed. The pH and electrical conductivity values in the sample sites visited, in the upper and middle, of the Igarapé do Quarenta, were very high values in relation to the maximum values recorded in a natural environment in other water streams of Manaus

Visualization of Archimedian and Platonic polyhedra using a web environment in Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality

    No full text
This paper shows the development of a web environment for the construction of Archimedes and Plato polyhedra in Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). In this environment we used the geometric transformations of translation and rotation with the structure of hierarchies of HTML pages, without the use of the coordinates of each polyhedra vertex. The developed environment can be used in classroom to visualize the polyhedra in Augmented Reality, with the possibility of manipulations of the graphical representations by students in the environment created in Virtual Reality. Other studies that can be developed with the polyhedra modeled are areas, volumes and the relation of Euler. Another important content that can be developed is truncation, because seven Archimedes polyhedra are obtained by using truncation of Plato's polyhedrons. With this work, it becomes possible to develop didactic materials with a simple technology, free and with great contribution to improvement of the teaching of Geometry and other areas that use representation of 3D objects

Craft based assignments of undergraduate textile design students: Multiple case study

    No full text
Modern textile design education is based on skill and practice. To inculcate the required expertise, contemporary educators used craft-based assignments. Many designers and artists consider designing high-tech products to start with sketching and drawing, paper, and a pencil. The visualization of design is a broad idea. It involves the cognitive critical and technical thinking of the designer. The present study discussed different approaches to visualization and elucidation. Craft based assignment is the foundation of the design process, where undergraduate textile design students experienced design development. The present study is a multi-case study. Data were collected from three assignments in textile design education. It’s a departmental case study where three cases were studies under the supervision of three textile design instructors. The outcomes demonstrated that, through craftsmanship training, the students found perception and explanation methods that were beforehand obscure to them and that they would not have thought of themselves. The study plan focused more on the thought and the outline sentiment than on the subtleties while applying the new strategies. The study shows that rough techniques seem to offer undergraduate textile design students a more robust visualization method and lower their creating threshold. The outcomes may be useful for teachers when planning craft projects that include a complete craft process that promotes undergraduate textile design students’ own creativity and ideas. Through a well-planned craft project, it is possible to combine knowledge of different courses and promote essential skills in overall learning and education

With the increased computational power and ease of gathering medical information, Artificial Intelligence has helped all areas of health in developing algorithms and techniques for disease diagnosis and staging. The technology has been applied in several areas, due to its wide range of features, some activities become simpler with your help. Thus, this study aimed to identify the main computational models for disease prediction. Data collection was performed in the virtual databases present in the Health Library Research Portal (VHL): LILACS: Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature, Scielo - ScientificElectronic Library Online and Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Medical Online (MEDLINE). We found 52 articles and 10 of these in the review. From the reading and evaluation of the included articles, which can be aided by computer vision techniques, machine learning through neural networks and pattern recognition can be developed algorithms capable of identifying diseases. Thus, from this diagnosis provided by the algorithm, the health professional will have conditions for early prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases

    No full text
With the evolution of management practices, new management methods and tools were adopted in public entities in order to optimize the delivery of services to their steakholders. In this scenario, the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) offers an important tool to assist in the strategic management of public entities. Therefore, this work aims to generate a bibliometric analysis of the scientific production on the BSC tool in the public sector in the period of five years (2014-2018), to clarify the functionalities and to survey data through the Web Database of Science. The procedure to perform this review of scientific production involved, initially, access to the database, followed by research by the terms "BSC and Government" and "BSC and Public Management". Afterwards, they were exported and ordered in the matrix in order to perform the analysis of the elements obtained. The methodology used was of a descriptive and quantitative nature. The main results emphasize that the production registered in the database used is scarce, observing that only 27 publications were found in the studied temporal cutout. It also indicates that, in the range comprised, the Brazilian production was on a large scale together with the Australian and Portuguese production equated to other countries contained in the research and, finally, that there is an inconstancy in the publication of articles related to this subject. This article is structured as follows: introduction, theoretical reference, methodology, results and discussions and conclusion

The article analyzes the accessibility problems in the classrooms of the Faculty of Technology of the Federal University of Amazonas (FT/UFAM) based on NBR 9050:2004, to propose suggestions for improvements. The data were collected through a checklist applied in 17 classrooms chosen at random. Besides, measurements and photographic records were performed to compare the reality of the classroom environment by meeting the requirements of this standard. The analysis concluded that most of the measured variables do not satisfy the requirements of NBR 9050:2004. The most critical problems are related to a) the gap in width and height of the doors; b) the width of the corridors between the rows of chairs; c) the signs on the doors; d) the height of installation of the blackboard; e) the absence of desks adaptable and available to a Person in Wheelchair; f) the height for installing sockets; g) the height of the light and air conditioning switches. All of these items were 100% disapproved, as they did not meet the minimum requirements required by the standard. Therefore, several recommendations were suggested to the FT/UFAM managers
