    Project-Based Learning: a strategy for teaching integral differential calculus for engineering students in a school in Brazil

    One of the problems that concerns engineering courses in Brazil is the students low level of motivation in regarding the type of teaching and, as a consequence, low academic performance. This article encourages the introduction of active methods in Engineering teaching, emphasizing the methodologies of Project Based Learning. The approach used was proposing a project for students to analyze important aspects in the production of cylindrical cans. The students applied calculus concepts and developed a model for the optimal dimensions of the cylinder and the utilization of the plates used. Characteristics of two materials used in the manufacture of these cans (tinplate and aluminum) were also gotten. Such aspects are relevant for both environmental sustainability and production costs. Concepts of application of derivatives and Fermat's theorem were used, learned in the discipline of Differential and Integral Calculus, in order to obtain the maximum and minimum values of an established function which relates the dimensions of the can and the amount of material needed. The dimensions obtained theoretically proved to be close to the real values found in cans available on the market. After analyzing the resistance to corrosion, the cost, the decomposition time and the mechanical resistance, it was concluded that the most appropriate material for the production of cans was the tinplate. In this context, teaching with Project Based Learning methodologies may contribute to innovative teaching practices in the training of engineering professionals, overcoming the limitations of traditional teaching methods

    The cultivation of vineyards is connected with the history of humanity and with the transformations of spaces and places that in a dynamic and harmonious way provide enchantment and the production of a secular product. With the evolution of the market and changes in natural resources, a holistic and multidisciplinary approach to the cultivation of vineyards became necessary, be it in the revision, management systems and also, particularities of each soil, relief, climate, landscape to design a system for growing vines. The aim of the study: to characterize the design of the biodynamic vineyard. To this end, a descriptive case study with qualitative analysis was carried out, interviews were conducted with two owners who use the cultivation system, biodynamic agriculture.     QUALITY OF LAYING EGGS USING PREBIOTIC ADDITIVES CREATED IN CAGE

    This study aims to evaluate the quality of eggs in laying hens reared at different densities in cage-free system, receiving diets with the addition of prebiotic additives. An observational study was carried out with 45 laying hens of the Novogen Brown scaling, which was in the phase of peak production (28 – 37 weeks), in prototypes of reduced scale without air conditioning and divided into group 1 (G1): density of two poultry /m² (11 poultry ) and diet with addition of a prebiotic pool; group 2 (G2): density of three poultry /m² (17 poultry ) and commercial diet without the addition of prebiotics and antibiotics; group 3 (G3): density of three poultry /m² (17 poultry ) and also diet with the addition of a prebiotic pool. In this study, the statistical evaluation was performed, the effects of densities 2 poultry /m² (G1) or 3 poultry /m² (G3) and the effects of diet with prebiotics (G3) and without prebiotics (G2) in laying poultry  were performed. The data were submitted to variance analysis by the GLM procedure of the SAS Program V9 (2002), using the Student's T Test at a level of 5% significance. The results referring to eggeso (g), albumen height (mm), yolk color,  haugh unit (UH), peel  resistance (Kgf) between G1 and G3 showed no statistically difference, since in relation to the thickness of the shell (mm) differed (P>0.05). In the analysis between G2 and G3, the statistical difference (P>0.05) obtained among all the panels analyzed. In the face of the above, it can be reported that the results of quality variables undergo the action of prebiotics in laying hens created in the Cage-free system

    APPLICATION OF FUZZY LOGIC TO ANALYZE THE PERFORMANCE OF SUSTAINABILITY LOGISTICS IN INDUSTRIAL DEPARTMENTS

    Bearing in mind that the improvement of sustainable logistics activities tend to reduce social, environmental and economic impacts, models for measuring the level of sustainability as a support tool in decision making are increasingly relevant to the process of identifying companies/departments, which need sustainable best practice in order to mitigate costs or increase profit. The objective of the research is to analyze the performance of sustainability logistics in departments of three companies in the electronic segment. As a methodology to develop the research, a sustainable analysis is carried out using a Fuzzy inferences model, in order to consolidate an expert agent, who is able to measure or indicate the level of sustainability performance in the Human Resources (HR) departments. Patrimony and Information Technology (IT), the data set for analysis and inference of the input and output variables are in line with the characteristics of activities and practices performed in each department. As a result, it was possible to identify an influence of the “Priority” variable as a function of “Performance”, in addition, company 1 in the electronic segment presented a performance of 87.6 for HR, 88.1 for IT and 65.5 for Equity with the level of “Performance” in Sustainability

    Optimization of truck allocation in open pit mines using differential evolution algorithm

    The allocation of trucks in open pit mines is a field with great potential for optimizing resources and applying advanced computer modeling techniques, mainly because many companies still choose to use manual allocation, which is premised on the decisions made by the operator, being subject to common failures and not reaching the maximum potential that the equipment can provide. Therefore, this work focuses on optimizing the allocation of trucks in order to increase production, reducing queue time and keeping ore grades within proper limits. The proposed algorithm was based on the differential evolution technique, where two types of mutation operators were used: rand/1/bin and best/1/bin, thus verifying the most suitable to solve the problem. The trucks were allocated in the ore loading and unloading process, aiming to improve the production capacity in a virtual mine. The results brought a convergence to the maximum global production, in addition to which, the allocation of unnecessary transport equipment to the planned routes was avoided. The two mutation operators compared had certain advantages and disadvantages, each better adapting to certain types of situations. The proposed technique can still be extended to other areas, for example, in the transport of grain on the road network or in the implementation of an allocation in freight cars that transport grain

    Integration method of non-elementary exponential functions using iterated Fubinni integrals

    The present work presents a new method of integration of non-elementary exponential functions where Fubinni's iterated integrals were used. In this research, some approximations were used in order to generalize the results obtained through mathematical series, in addition to integration methods and double integrals. In addition to the integration methods, the Taylor series was used, where the value found and compatible with the values ​​of the power series that are used to calculate the value of the exponential function demonstrated in the work was verified. In addition to the methods described, a comparison of the values ​​obtained by the series and the values ​​described in the method was improvised, where it was noticed that the higher the value of the variable, the closer the results show a stability for the variable greater than the value 4, described in table 01. The conclusions point to a great improvement, mainly for solving elliptic differential equations and statistical functions

    Inclusive Education and Vocational and Technological Training: interfaces and challenges at the Federal Institute of Rondônia/Brazil

    This article reflects on the theme of Inclusive Education, an educational paradigm that refers to a restructuring of culture, practice and policies experienced in schools, so that they meet the diversity of students. It aims to contribute to the reflection on the challenges of educational inclusion of students in the IFRO – Porto Velho Calama Campus and communicate the process of development and application of the educational product: Initial Formation Course. The method used was the Educational Action Research, with the acquisition and analysis of data based on educational documents that guide the inclusion of autistic students prepared in IFRO, legislation and national guidelines concerning the subject. Among the results achieved, it is reported that IFRO has developed actions aimed at improving the conditions of access, permanence and success of students with disabilities, including students with ASD. However, there is a threat scenario to this inclusive process, caused by neoliberal pedagogies that put at risk the continuity of the offer of Integrated Secondary Education, and intend to remodel the curricula, configuring a teaching by competences, which aims to attend to productivist interests and logics with regard to professional practice. In the case of the education of the person with ASD, these pedagogies tend to disregard the characteristic variability of the disorder, demand unachievable standards and intensify exclusion

    The use of 3D printing for the development of a learning tool for the visually impaired.

    3D printing is a technology that allows manufacturing objects from a virtual model. The field of education has appropriated its use due to its potential to contribute to the teaching-learning process, especially for the education of the visually impaired. Visually impaired people develop their skills through alternative means, mainly using auditory and tactile landmarks as a way of obtaining information. Within the innovative perspectives for education, this study aims to propose a learning tool using 3D printing technology to build a board game employed for the use of unplugged programming language in the education of children visually impaired for their development of logical thinking skills. The learning tool production started in its modeling performed using specific software that generated 3D virtual models. Later, these files were sent to a 3D printer for printing, using the fused filament fabrication, originating physical copies of modeled objects. Then, the objects, now printed, went through a finishing process for their completion. Part of the game components received braille indications accordingly to the proposed in this study. As a result, we obtained a game prototype adapted for the visually impaired, made through 3D printing, with the potential to assist in the teaching-learning process

    Analysis of the bamboo construction process in the architecture of Leiko Motomura and Simón Vélez

    The interest in the use of natural materials by construction professionals has been growing as the concern with designing buildings with low environmental impact arises. For this reason bamboo is an excellent choice, as this material has a high resistance parallel to the fibers, is light and has a great capacity to incorporate CO². Given the context described above, this article aims to analyze the constructive techniques in bamboo culms in two works of architectural relevance: Max Feffer Cultural Center (Brazil) and Casa Serra Grande (Brazil), by architects Leiko Motomura and Simón Vélez. For this, field visits were made for a better understanding of bamboo connections, analysis of photographs, files, 3D models and bibliographical research regarding the material. The study helps to understand and reflect on the constructive components of bamboo in architectural projects, highlighting the association between the traditional elements of fittings, associated with the technology available today, such as the grout associated with screws, clamps and spacers

    The contemporary business environment seeks continuous improvement to remain competitive in the market, as customers increasingly demand quality products or services. In this perspective, this paper presents a methodology aimed at evaluating the quality of processes in the project management sector in a Third Sector Organization, based on the Fuzzy mathematical model. For this, linguistic variables (input) were developed according to information obtained from company Y, which enabled the application of the Fuzzy Logic method, in order to determine the output variable, which in this case is quality. After determining the rules, it was possible to obtain results that show that the developed fuzzy model has the potential to help improve the quality of processes
