    Computational meta-heuristics based on Machine Learning to optimize fuel consumption of vessels using diesel engines

    With the expansion of means of river transportation, especially in the case of small and medium-sized vessels that make routes of greater distances, the cost of fuel, if not taken as an analysis criterion for a larger profit margin, is considered to be a primary factor , considering that the value of fuel specifically diesel to power internal combustion machines is high. Therefore, the use of tools that assist in decision-making becomes necessary, as is the case of the present research, which aims to contribute with a computational model of prediction and optimization of the best speed to decrease the fuel cost considering the characteristics of the SCANIA 315 machine. propulsion model, of a vessel from the river port of Manaus that carries out river transportation to several municipalities in Amazonas. According to the results of the simulations, the best training algorithm of the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) was the BFGS Quasi-Newton considering the characteristics of the engine for optimization with Genetic Algorithm (AG)

    Prime numbers demystified

    The paper is the ultimate prime numbers algorithm that gets rid of the unneccessary mystery about prime numbers. All the numerous arithmetic series patterns observed between various prime numbers are clearly explained with an elegant "pattern of remainders". With this algorithm we prove that odd numbers too can make an Ulam spiral contrary to current ""proofs". At the end of the paper this author proves the relationship between a simple arithmetic series pattern and the Riehmann's prime numbers distribution equation. This paper would be important for encryption too. As an example, prime integer 1979 is expressed as 1.2.4.5.10.3.7.3.1.7.26.18.11.1. This makes even smaller primes useful for encryption as well

    Bibliographic review of vessel collisions on bridges:: a case study in northern Brazil

    Vessels operating in the Amazon and world fluvial navigation still face difficulties related to the lack of standardization and lack of compliance with the rules, resulting in collisions of river convoys over bridges. At the same time, there is an increase in demand for river transport over the years. Vessel collisions on bridges cause enormous socioeconomic damage to the municipalities located in the vicinity of the accident. In this sense, it is extremely important to verify the quantitative differences between various formulations of force and energy contained in the impact of vessels, found in the main international standards for bridge projects and in several studies of vessel collisions on works of art. Therefore, such formulations are applied to a case study of a convoy type sailing under the bridge of the Guamá River, in the north of Brazil

This qualitative study provides an insight to language practitioners that CSs among emergent bilinguals develop in accordance with their age. Some minor findings also suggest that CSs is influenced more by cognitive development and willingness to communicate (WTC)

    The Coronavirus Pandemic has brought about vast changes in the lives of people, from daily routines to social interactions. These abrupt changes hugely affected the education system, bringing about initiatives such as online classrooms and asynchronous activities. This scenario is tough for everyone, but it is more challenging to people with special needs and disabilities, particularly those who have Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families. Some mitigating factors that the government has imposed to curb the spread of the virus include social distancing and health protocols, contributing to the struggles faced by the children and their families. With the use of technology, E- Learning has been made possible.  Schools help lighten up the load by creating learning management system which acts as a replacement of traditional learning. Aside from children with disabilities, their parents or guardians should also be taught how to use the e-learning platforms for them to be effective partners of the teachers in guiding and nurturing these students. Through the literature review, this paper seeks to analyze the role of the school and the educators in promoting and fostering a culture of inclusivity for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder during the COVID-19 Pandemic outbreak, and to analyze how the Universal Design for Learning success model as an intervention that can support learners with special needs.     Synthesis, Characterization and Stabilization Analysis of Ferrofluid Based on Amazon Vegetable Copaifera O. L. Oil

    The Nanoscience and Nanobiotechnology develops several researches using nanostructures with magnetic properties. These nanostructures can have different physical properties depending on their composition and therefore can be used in various applications such as: drug markers and carriers, microelectronics, magnetic separations and environmental applications. Furthermore, the use of natural components in the synthesis of these nanostructures may come to complement these nanomaterials due to their underexplored properties and their renewable origin. This research will aim to carry out a pre-study to analyze the stability of magnetic fluids based on Fe3O4 nanoparticles functionalized with vegetable oil from the Copaifera SPP plant, known as Copaiba. Therefore, the Fe3O4 nanoparticles will be synthesized by the coprecipitation method by hydrolysis in an alkaline solution. Ferrofluid will be prepared by dispersing magnetic nanoparticles, at different concentrations, in the “in natura” oil. For the samples characterization measurements were taken of: UV-vis, FTIR, NIR spectrophotometry, XRD and Magnetic Susceptibility, the temporal analysis was recorded periodically, observing the possible stability of the samples. This work reports that the ferrofluid showed good stability and the magnetic properties associated with the nanoparticles the properties of the Amazon oil used

    Complementary therapies in controlling side-effects during cancer treatment: A systematic review and meta-analysis

    This systematic review evaluated whether reiki had an impact on patients undergoing chemo-therapy, with possible improvement of the following outcomes: fatigue, pain, anxiety and quality of life. Method: Systematic review study with meta-analysis conducted at a tertiary care center. The following databases were searched until July 2020: MEDLINE, LILACS and CENTRAL. Two re-viewers independently examined eligible articles, extracted data and assessed the risk of bias using the Cochrane tool. Results: The analyzes included eight studies and showed that there was a sta-tistically significant for anxiety control (MD = -2-09; 95% CI: -3.00 to -1.19; I2 = 51%) and Quality of life (MD = -5.97; 95% CI: -10.70 to -1.25; I2 = 97%) but no statistically significant difference was found for the other outcomes analyzed. An analysis of the risk of bias has uncertain methodological limitations in the studies. Conclusions: Although there is anxiety control and improved quality of life, there is a need for the elaboration of randomized clinical trials with larger populations to verify their real performance in controlling some side effects during chemotherapy

    Regulation of Flipped Learning Activities in Programming: A Systematic Review

    Flipped Learning can contribute significantly to learning, however there is an under-utilization of conceptual structures of design in the flipped classroom, with regard to the incorporation of pedagogical methods to promote the activities to be performed by students. The pedagogical design of flipped classrooms needs to provide a model that details how to facilitate activities before, during and after classes. It is important to analyze the moment before the classroom, which involves self-regulation, during the classroom which involves processes related to interaction and collaboration and after the classroom, related to reflective processes.  Developing and conducting a systematic review can contribute to an analysis of the current state of research on teacher facilitation in relation to student regulation in flipped learning related to teaching programming. The systematic review was carried out to identify all the research available on self-regulation and co-regulation by students during flipped learning in programming courses. The objective of this research is to identify and analyze relevant research related to the regulation and co-regulation of flipped learning activities in the teaching of programming, and to understand how the self-regulation and co-regulation of students has been approached to engage in activities before the classroom. class, collaboration and problem solving during classes and reflections after class. After a analysis of the articles listed by the systematic review, important gaps in the literature can be observed, such as the lack of approach to the three phases of flipped learning, regulation and co-regulation and all dimensions of regulation. Nor is there a theoretical framework based on processes and strategies of self and co-regulation for teaching computer programming. Thus, the present systematic review has significant relevance and highlights the need for studies that involve all elements of flipped learning in the teaching of programming

    Mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic: An integrative review on the impacts of social distancing on the occurrence of anxiety and depression symptoms

    This study aimed to investigate the impacts of social distancing on the occurrence of symptoms of anxiety and depression reported in scientific production available in 2020, describing and analyzing the main triggering factors of mental health problems/diseases in the period of social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. The method used was an integrative literature review, with searches in Lilacs, SciELO, Medline, and PubMed databases. The following descriptors were used for the selection of publications: Social Distancing, Anxiety, and Depression, used in combination in the search strategy. To refine the search, filters were used: full text; Language Portuguese, English, and Spanish; Main subject; Type of document, with an article as the only type of literature accepted; Year of Publication 2020. This research identified 37 studies later categorized into five main themes: Physical Inactivity, Reduction of social contact and face-to-face interactions, Financial concerns and economic vulnerability, Loneliness, and Alcohol Consumption. The major impacts of social distancing on mental health were the drastic change in routine, favoring sedentary behavior, and limitation in interpersonal contact indicated in many studies as a generator of a high prevalence of harmful psychological effects, especially depression, anxiety, irritability, and irritability episodes of insomnia. The perception of loneliness as a consequence of the period of social distancing was also identified by most studies as associated with anxious and depressive outcomes and with an increased risk of suicidal ideation, as well as the increased use of alcohol, widely used as an escape from reality in the current context of economic resection, unemployment, indebtedness, and death of family and friends by COVID-19

    Computational modeling of biosludge drying

    Considerable increases in industrial and urban wastewater sludge generation in recent years require proper treatment, such as thermal drying, and disposal. The sludge drying is a complex process involving simultaneous and coupled heat and mass transfer, which can be modeled by taking into account mass and heat balances, and assuming that water diffuses according to kinetic laws. This research implemented a simulation model for biosludge drying processes to predict the temperature and moisture distribution inside the biosludge, using the COMSOL Multiphysics® simulation program v5.2. A parametric analysis was carried out to determine the effect of initial moisture content on biosludge final temperature and moisture reduction. The simulated temperature and moisture content were experimentally validated and good agreement was observed between the simulation and experimental results. This model is a useful tool to optimize the drying process and develop better strategies for the control of the system
