Digital Games and the Exercise of Attention: Interventions in Small Groups in School
Digital games can be used to improve cognitive skills in schools, since they have rules, goals, challenges and propose actions that require the player’s attention, the use of problem-solving capacity, involving the planning of actions, keeping the goals and objectives in mind. Therefore, this article’s objective is to investigate indicators on the effects of the use of digital cognitive games in interventions carried out in small groups in the school context on the attention capacity. Therefore, a quasi-experimental study was conducted with 30 subjects, aged 7 to 11, which were divided into two groups, participant and control. Both were evaluated before and after the intervention through the application of a concentrated attention test. The results obtained indicated that the participant group had a significantly superior performance in relation to the quality of the attention because of less mistakes in the second application than the control group. The differences found in test variables that indicate the speed of discrimination of stimuli and attention more broadly were not significant
Inclusion, physical activity and quality of life for people with disabilities
Several social spaces have been attended by people with disabilities. The universities include some of them, in this context we point out the Don Bosco Catholic University, in which through the University Extension Project Vida Nova, mainly serves people with spinal cord injuries with physical activities and resistance exercises. At the head of the project are coordinating teachers and students, with participation from the Physical Education and Nutrition courses. After the anamnesis, the training routines are elaborated, attending the requirements and limitations of each person. The objective is to present the work of adapted exercises carried out in the project with the members with physical disabilities. Seven individuals participate in the project in the morning, two of them female and five male, with ages between 24 and 61, an average of 44.85 years. Currently, the project serves around 15 people with physical disabilities, having the thera band as the most used means of adaptation. Future studies on the implementation of adapted gyms can be carried out, considering the interdisciplinary relevance of the theme, which in addition to involving courses in the health area, can cover other areas such as engineering and exacting for floor plan making and budgeting
Biometric and reproductive characteristics of the King Tiger Plecos Hypancistrus sp. “L-333” (Siluriformes: Loricariidae) endemic to the lower Xingu River (Pará, Brasil)
This research analyzed the biometrics and reproductive characteristics of a group of Hypancistrus sp. L-333 (King Tiger Plecos) in order to gather biological information and aid the rearing of the species in captivity, thus supporting its natural conservation. This species has a natural distribution that is restricted to the lower Xingu River, and is currently threatened by the hydroelectric projects in the region. The acquired specimens were measured, weighed and classified according to sex based on morphometric characteristics (evidence of secondary sexual characteristics) that were later confirmed by dissection. A total of 32 individuals, 16 males and 16 females were identified. Although the length-weight ratio did not present significant differences, the results revealed that the species has secondary sexual dimorphism. The odontodes were more developed in the mid-lateral region of the body, post-dorsal region, caudal peduncle and in the first ray (ossified) of the pectoral fin in males. Histological analyses of the gonads confirmed that all of the fish were adult individuals. The diameter of the oocytes ranged from 0.14 to 2.0 mm, presented three distinct modes, and were synchronous in more than two groups, which evidences batch spawning. Fecundity was low, between 35 and 54 oocytes in the largest batch. This information is novel and important for the identification of reproductive groups, and is aimed at breeding in captivity so that these resources can be exploited in a sustainable way, without harming the already threatened natural stocks
Production strategy influence on the economic viability of a family fish farm in Pará state, Amazon, Brazil
The objective of this study was to analyze the influence of the adoption of single-phase and two-phase system on the economic feasibility of tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) family production in the Tracuateua municipality, Pará state. The operational cost methodology and economic efficiency indicators were adopted to compare these rearing systems. The annual production was 4,200 kg and 5,826 kg. The operational costs were R 34,365.00, the total operational cost was R 35,701.00, and the total operational cost per kg was R 6.13 for single-phase and two-phase systems, respectively. Regarding the indicators, the net present value was R 48,582.06, the internal rate of return was 29%, the cost-benefit ratio was 1.25, and the capital return period was 3.6 years. Despite the demand for greater investment, the two-phase system proved to be more profitable than the single-phase system, promoting even a reduction in unit production cost
EFFECT OF PHYSICAL EXERCISE ON COLORECTAL CANCER: SYSTEMATIC REVIEW
Aerobic and resistance physical exercise can activate different molecular pathways due to different intensities, duration, and mechanical loads imposed on the muscles. The activity can result in metabolic adaptations, such as increased mitochondrial mass, oxygen supply, glucose uptake, and antioxidant capacity. The method of this systematic review followed recommendations proposed by the PRISMA Statement. Were included studies that used physical exercise as an intervention in rats and mice with induced colorectal cancer. The Studies' selection was on databases: Bireme, PubMed, Science Direct, Medline, Ibecs, Lilacs, Bdenf, Binacis, Scielo, and bibliographic references selected articles. Animal models researches showed that aerobic and resistance exercise could reduce several risk factors like oxidating stress and the tumor's pro-inflammatory status. That happens due to cytokines' regulation, thereby improve organic's defenses and reduce colon inflammation
THE SUBJECTIVITY OF THE TRANSEXUAL BODY IN CINEMATOGRAPHIC WORKS
Transsexuals are individuals who feel out of place in their own bodies, facing constant conflicts between identity and biology and still face barriers and social prejudices. The subjectivity approach present in transsexual bodies assumes relevance in the contemporary scenario to foster discussions of gender, prejudice and social inclusion, through the problem of dominance of the body. This article aims to identify the subjectivity present in the transsexual body presented in the cinematographic works Transamérica and The Danish Girl
Antifungal activity of some alternative control against mango anthracnose in Senegal
Mango production in the South of Senegal is exposed to intensive rainfall from late May to October, with high temperature and moisture levels. These conditions are conducive for the development of anthracnose caused by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides (sensu lato) and leading to an absolute necessity for adequate control measures for good quality mango production. Anthracnose disease causes both pre- and postharvest fruit spots and fruit rot as well as premature fruit drop. The purpose of this study was to test the efficacy of several fungicide alternatives (fertilizers and biological control agents) against mango anthracnose in Senegal comparatively to standard fungicides. Field trials were set up in contrasting climates conditions and involved three orchards in the Northern part of the country with a short rainy season and dry climate over 9 to 10 months a year and three other orchards in the Southern part of Senegal with in a humid tropic environment. No anthracnose was recorded in the orchards in northern Senegal. In the south, in contrast, the disease was actual. Among the treatments tested for the control of anthracnose, Sodium molybdate were found effective after fungicides (azoxystrobin and thiophanate methyl). All the alternative treatments to fungicides provided a statistically significant control to the disease as compared to the contro
Overview on the Production and Commercialization of “Barreado” in Paraná Coast, Brazil: Implications and Potentialities
Barreado is a typical dish from Paraná, made with beef and some specific spices and cooked for a long time in a clay pot sealed by a mixture of ashes similar to the clay, being this dish produced with greater relevance in the coastal region of the state, where there is the largest productive arrangement of this dish in Brazil and where has a strong gastronomic touristic appeal. Despite the historical, cultural and economic relevance of gastronomic tourism in Paraná, few and sparse studies use the issue, thus, this study aimed to elaborate and show an overview of the current scenario of production and trade of the dish, highlighting the implications and potential of Barreado in Paraná Coast. The survey methodology was based on quantitative and qualitative descriptive exploratory research, the data collection was accomplished between May and June 2020, with 151 consumers. The study revealed that among Barreado consumers there was a predominance of women (n=61.5%). The average age was 40.9 years old, and the majority of the respondents (46.4%) preferred to consume Barreado when it is done by the traditional way of cooking, in a clay pot and on a wood stove for 24 hours. The greatest potential described was the fact that the Barreado is a typical and original product of Paraná and has great acceptance in gastronomic tourism, which reveals its capacity to be a source that drives regional development, however the price considered high and the distribution network in the retail market was classified as deficient, they were identified as limiting factors to the development of the Barreado production and commercialization. In this context, still on the issue of price and its relationship with the consumption, given that it was one of the main factors identified as limiting and the lack of studies on the subject, for further studies on the cost and quality relationship should be considered by researchers in new future studies
Transversal Diagnosis of the Panorama of Professional Education: A Case Study of the City of Itaporã – Mato Grosso do Sul
This case study aims to identify the demand for professional education courses in the city of Itaporã, in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, in the year 2020, offering a cross-cutting diagnosis of this educational panorama; for this purpose, the technique of guided interview in loco was implemented with the action coordinating agents designated by the municipal administration. All those involved were aware of their free and voluntary collaboration. During the entire collection phase, the information was recorded through a free association chart which, later revised, gave basis to the identification that in the disclosure phase there is no time to contact the possible students taking into account that, besides the districts, the municipality aggregates a vast rural region. In addition, the fact that the course is offered only at night, ends up discouraging the participation of some potential students who, despite showing interest, need to pay attention to their labor routines. It is concluded that a greater concern is needed to create a database of course graduates in order to establish a periodic sense capable of identifying professional life after the course, in addition to profiling the demand for skilled labor in order to detect which training is important at the moment
