La Importancia de la Investigación Básica en TISP. Una Puerta Entreabierta para el Avance del Conocimiento
Get PDFResumen: La investigación es fundamental para el desarrollo de una sociedad. La realidad nos muestra que las sociedades actuales avanzan desde sociedades monoculturales a otras multiculturales, y ello conlleva una serie de cambios y adaptaciones que necesitan ser investigados a fin de encontrar soluciones que faciliten la consolidación de las nuevas estructuras. Cuando están en juego lenguas y culturas diferentes, la presencia de traductores e intérpretes es fundamental. Si además concentramos nuestra atención en las relaciones entre las instituciones u organismos públicos y los inmigrantes, estaremos hablando de traductores e intérpretes en los servicios públicos. El objetivo de este artículo es dar cuenta de las investigaciones empíricas llevadas a cabo por alumnos del Máster Universitario en Comunicación Intercultural, Interpretación y Traducción en los Servicios Públicos, cuyos títulos se han incluido en una base de datos ordenada por temas, y proponer acciones de utilidad para el reconocimiento y profesionalización de dicha especialización. Abstract: Research is a fundamental part of societal development. Reality has shown us that current societies advance from monocultural ones to multicultural ones. This results in a series of changes and adaptations that need to be investigated, in order to find solutions that facilitate the consolidation of new structures. When different languages and cultures are at stake, the presence of translators and interpreters is fundamental. If we furthermore focus our attention on the relation between institutions or public organizations and immigrants, we would be talking about public service interpreters and translators. The goal of this article is to recognize the empirical investigations done by students of the Intercultural Communication, Public Service Interpreting and Translation master’s program, whose titles have been included in a database, organized by topics, and propose useful actions for the recognition and professionalization of this specialty.
Análisis de la Situación de la Traducción y la Interpretación en el Ámbito Judicial en España en Casos Específicos de Violencia de Género
Get PDFResumen: Las diferencias culturales y lingüísticas son algunos de los principales obstáculos a los que tienen que enfrentarse los/as inmigrantes en el marco de la realidad multicultural y plurilingüe en la que vivimos. En este punto aparece la figura del/la intérprete o mediador intercultural que interviene para que pueda darse una comunicación efectiva. Este trabajo de investigación se centra en los recursos de asistencia lingüística que se ofrecen a las mujeres extranjeras víctimas de violencia de género que han decidido iniciar un proceso judicial.El objetivo principal de esta investigación es analizar el estado de la cuestión de la comunicación con usuarias extranjeras víctimas de violencia de género en el ámbito judicial a través de intérpretes y la evaluación de la protección del derecho al acceso igualitario a la justicia y a la red de asistencia integral. Finalmente, se pretende dar pautas de mejora o creación de un servicio de interpretación de calidad en los juzgados y tribunales españoles, con intérpretes especializados en género para los casos de violencia contra las mujeres. Abstract: Cultural and linguistic differences are some of the main barriers foreigners have to face within the multicultural and multilingual environment we live in. At this point the role of the interpreter or intercultural mediator appears, as he/she acts to facilitate communication. This research focuses on the language assistance resources that are provided to women who suffer from gender-based violence and have decided to start legal proceedings.The aim of this research is to analyse the current situation of communication in legal settings with foreign women who are victims of gender-based violence. I will also assess the protection of the right to equal access to justice and to the complete network of assistance at their disposal. The final goal is to establish recommendations for the improvement and/or creation of a high-quality interpreting service in Spanish Courts that provides trained interpreters specialised in gender for cases of violence against women.
Descriptions of Interpreting and their Ethical Consequences
Get PDFAbstract: The current array of descriptions that are given of interpreting outside the conference room has bedeviled the field: from ‘community interpreting’ to ‘dialogue interpreting’ to ‘public service interpreting’ to ‘ad hoc interpreting’ to ‘non-professional interpreting’. Some descriptions avoid ‘interpreting’ altogether – ‘linguistic mediation’, ‘cultural mediation’, etc. Significantly, self-ascription by the practitioners themselves often does not match these imposed descriptions. Yet each description carries with it, implicitly or explicitly, a specific view of ethics, tied closely to perceived roles of interpreters, but often encompassing assumptions about tasks, personal or professional characteristics, or status. This messy terminological terrain is surveyed to reveal some altogether clear distinctions that can help our understanding of differentiating and common elements in interpreting. Building on that, the ethical implications of different descriptions are categorised to show that ethical responsibility in interpreting situations rests not with the interpreters alone, but with other players, particularly institutional players, in contracting language services.Resumen: La actual variedad de descripciones que se dan sobre la interpretación fuera de la sala de conferencias ha dañado al campo: desde “interpretación social” a “interpretación de diálogo”, “interpretación en los servicios públicos”, “interpretación ad hoc” o “interpretación no profesional”. Algunas descripciones evitan decir “interpretación” tal cual – “mediación lingüística”, “mediación cultural”, etc. De manera significativa, la auto-adscripción por parte de los profesionales a menudo no coincide con estas descripciones impuestas. Aunque cada descripción entraña, implícita o explícitamente, una mirada específica a la ética, ligada estrechamente a los papeles desempeñados por los intérpretes, a menudo incluye suposiciones sobre tareas, características personales o profesionales, o estatus. Este desorganizado terreno terminológico se analiza para revelar muy claras diferencias que pueden ayudar a nuestra comprensión de la diferenciación y elementos comunes en la interpretación. Al hilo de ello, se clasifican las implicaciones éticas de las diferentes descripciones para mostrar que la responsabilidad ética en situaciones interpretativas descansa no sólo en los intérpretes, sino en otras partes, especialmente las institucionales, en la contratación de servicios de idiomas.

No full textالتي ترتبط معرفتها والتعبير عنها واستقبالها بالبعدين الاجتماعي والثقافي بعيداً عن المظاهر الشكلية البحثة، ففي بعض الأحيان قد نفهم مجموع معاني الكلمات من غير إدراك للمغزى الخفي المراد منها لأننا قد نرفض بعض التركيبات اللغوية ونصفها بالغرابة؛ فتصبح بالتالي فاقدة للمعنى من منظورنا الاجتماعي والثقافي الخاص، في الوقت الذي تكون فيه محملة بالمعاني من وجهة نظر قائلها بحسب السياقين الاجتماعي والثقافي الموجِّهَيْن لعملية القول.تماشيا مع هذا الطرح، ولإظهار مثل هذا النوع من التراكيب اللغوية، سأتناول الإشارات والتعبيرات ذات المضامين الجنسيّة التي يتعيّن ترجمتها من العربية إلى الإسبانية في قطاع الخدمات العامة، مركزا بصفة خاصة على الترجمة الفورية لأنها، بعكس الترجمة المكتوبة، تتطلب وجود الأضلاع الثلاثة لعملية التواصل وهم: مقدّم الخدمة والمستفيد منها والمترجم.ترجمة شفهية، عبارات ذات محتوى جنسي، الخدمات الإجتماعية الكلمات المحورية Resumen: El objeto de este trabajo es analizar y describir algunos aspectos de la lengua, cuyo conocimiento, expresión y recepción incumbe al ámbito social y cultural, más que a lo puramente formal. Es decir, que en ocasiones podemos entender la totalidad de las palabras, sin captar el mensaje implícito, o incluso podemos rechazar algún tipo de construcción lingüística juzgándola rara o anómala, y por tanto poco significativa desde nuestra perspectiva social y cultural propia, aunque la misma sea altamente significativa desde el punto de vista del emisor y de su marco social y cultural. Para poner de relieve este tipo de construcciones lingüísticas, abordaré aquellas referencias y expresiones con contenido sexual que se precisa traducir del árabe al español en el ámbito de la Interpretación en los Servicios Públicos. Por ello, este trabajo se centrará exclusivamente en la interpretación, porque es ella, frente a la traducción, la que precisa de la presencia física y efectiva de los tres actores de la comunicación, a saber: el proveedor del servicio, el usuario del mismo y el intérprete.Abstract: The objective of this project is to analyze and describe some aspects of language, whose knowledge, expression and reception is relevant to social and cultural scope, more than just the formal scope. It is to say that, in specific occasions, we can understand the totality of words, without understanding the implicit message, or we can even reject some type of linguistic construction, considering it weird or abnormal, and therefore of little significance from our own social and cultural perspective, even though the same is highly significant from the emitter’s point of view and their social and cultural frame of reference. To highlight these types of linguistic constructions, I will address those references and expressions of sexual content needing to be translated from Arabic to Spanish in the field of Public Service Interpreting. For this reason, this project will focus specifically on interpreting, as opposed to translation, because interpreting requires the physical and effective existence of the three actors in communication: the service provider, the user of the service, and the interpreter.

Get PDFResumen: Este artículo presenta el marco teórico de un proyecto que se está teniendo lugar actualmente y que persigue la mejora de la calidad de los documentos informativos traducidos en el ámbito de la Salud Mental, dirigido al público hispano hablante que vive en Estado Unidos. El principal objetivo de este estudio es la creación de un modelo de traducción basado en la adaptación sociocultural y lingüística que mejora la legibilidad del texto y, en consecuencia, la eficacia de la transmisión de información. Los rasgos culturales y las habilidades lingüísticos de la audiencia (en este caso, la comunidad latina de EE.UU.) deberían ser, en mi opinión, una parte fundamental en métodos y patrones de traducción, ya que ambos juegan un papel importante en el modo en el que el lector se acerca al texto y posteriormente lo entiende. Para introducir estos aspectos en un modelo d traducción, intentaremos combinar la teoría del marco semántico de Filmore (1976) con diferentes estrategias orientadas a incrementar la legibilidad del texto. La razón de esta selección y del enfoque del proyecto se detallarán a lo largo de este artículo.Abstract: This paper presents the theoretical basis of an on-going translation project that seeks to improve the quality of translated information documents related to Mental Health which are addressed to the Hispanic population living in theUSA. The main objective is achieving a translation model based on sociocultural and literacy appropriateness which boasts documents intelligibility and, in consequence, the effectiveness of information transmission. The cultural features and literacy skills of the target audience (in this case, the U.S. Latino community) should be, in my opinion, a fundamental part of translation methods and patterns, since they both play an important role in the way a reader approaches and subsequently understands a text. In order to implement these aspects in our translation model, we intend to combine Fillmore’s Frame Semantics theory (1976) with different strategies oriented to improve texts intelligibility. Diseño y Elaboración de un Diccionario Sanitario Trilingüe en Línea (Español-Rumano-Inglés)
Get PDFResumen: Debido a las nuevas necesidades que tiene la actual sociedad multicultural española y a la falta de recursos lingüísticos en ciertas lenguas minoritarias, a través del presente proyecto se propone dar un paso adelante y crear el diseño y el modelo de lo que podría llegar a ser un diccionario trilingüe de términos sanitarios en línea. Como la sanidad es un factor importante en la vida de cada individuo y del que depende el desarrollo de una sociedad, se considera abordar la temática de la sanidad en relación con los pacientes extranjeros de origen rumano. Por otro lado, la gran expansión y utilidad del internet influye en la elección de la variante de un diccionario en línea. Consideramos que los beneficios de un diccionario de estas características son mayores que los de un diccionario en formato papel. Abstract: Due to the new needs of the current Spanish multicultural society and to the lack of linguistic resources in certain minority languages, through this project we aim to take a step further and create the design and model of what could become an online trilingual dictionary of medical terms. As health is a very important factor in the life of every individual and since the development of a society depends on it, we considered addressing the issue of health in relation to foreign patients of Romanian origin. On the other hand, the great utility of the internet and its huge expansion influences the choice of an online dictionary. We believe that the benefits of such a dictionary outweigh the ones of a dictionary in paper format

No full textoai:fitisposij.web.uah.es:article/5摘要:中国作为一个新兴的发展中国家，正吸引着越来越多的外国人前来工作和定居。随着越来越多的外籍人口日渐融入中国社会，他们在生活中遇到了很多实际困难，如：子女上学，看病就医以及证件审批等。而中国政府和大学对于与上述领域相关的口译人员的培养一直未给予足够重视。本文侧重于研究国内外以汉语为工作语言的社区口译培训，介绍该类口译培训在国内外的情况并对目前面临的各种问题予以总结。Resumen: Como país emergente, China atrae cada día más a un mayor número de personas extranjeras que vienen a trabajar y a vivir. Con la llegada y la integración de la población extranjera, que va aumentando todos los días, surgen también muchas dificultades de comunicación en el día a día, tales como la educación de los niños, la consulta al médico o la solicitud de los documentos, entre otras. Pero el gobierno y las universidades chinas no han prestado suficiente atención a la formación de intérpretes que puedan solucionar este tipo de problemas. En este artículo realizaremos una investigación sobre la formación de los intérpretes de los servicios públicos en China y en otros países que utilizan el chino como idioma de trabajo. Analizaremos la situación actual, intentando detectar problemas y proponer soluciones a los mismos.Abstract: As an emerging country,China is progressively attracting more foreigners as a place to work and live. With the arrival and integration of foreigners inChina increasing daily, many communication difficulties also occur in their daily lives such as: the education of their children, doctors’ appointments or application for documentation, among other things. However, the Chinese government and universities have not paid sufficient attention to the training of interpreters that could solve these problems. In this article we will focus on research regarding the training of public service interpreters inChina and other countries where Chinese is the official language. We will analyze the current situation and attempt to find both the problems and their corresponding solutions.
