El trabajo reproductivo en el medio rural. Puesteras y trabajadoras migrantes del sector agropecuario de Mendoza (Argentina)
This article sets out to analyze the reproductive labor carried out in rural areas of Mendoza province, Argentina. To this end, we retrieved and compared empirical data from two qualitative research works conducted between 2012 and 2018 with female goat producers and female migrant farm workers, which allowed us to find singularities in every case, as well as common aspects in their reproductive labors. In order to provide empirical evidence to contribute to the feminist and/ or gender debate regarding care and domestic work, this writing is structured by sections; the first one describes basic methodological characteristics of reference studies; the second one recovers antecedents on reproductive work in rural areas of Latin America; the third one refers to some aspects of Mendoza agricultural context and then focuses on the cases, particularly on describing and reflecting on the reproductive labor experiences of both women groups studied. Finally, the conclusions seek to highlight the singularities that reproductive labor acquires in rural contexts, the porosity of its boundaries with productive activities, the simultaneity of these burden activities in the daily life of female workers, and the dynamism of said labors associated with agricultural production seasonality and cycles of nature.El presente artículo se propuso analizar el trabajo reproductivo desarrollado en ámbitos rurales de la provincia de Mendoza (Argentina). Paraello recuperamos y comparamos datos empíricos de dos investigaciones cualitativas realizadas entre los años 2012 y 2018, con puesteras y trabajadoras agrícolas migrantes, que nos permitió hallar singularidades en cada caso, pero también aspectos comunes en sus labores reproductivas. Con la finalidad de aportar evidencia empírica para contribuir al debate feminista y/o de género sobre el trabajo de cuidados y doméstico, este escrito se estructura por distintas secciones: la primera describe las características metodológicas básicas de los estudios de referencia; la segunda recupera antecedentes sobre trabajo reproductivo en ámbitos rurales de América Latina; la tercera refiere a algunas características del contexto agropecuario mendocino para luego centrarse en los casos, particularmente en describir y reflexionar sobre las experiencias de trabajo reproductivo de los dos grupos de mujeres estudiados. Las conclusiones, por último, buscan destacar las singularidades que adquiere el trabajo reproductivo en contextos rurales: la porosidad de sus límites con las actividades productivas, la simultaneidad de esta carga de trabajo en la vida cotidiana de las trabajadoras y el dinamismo de estas tareas, asociado con la estacionalidad de la producción agropecuaria y los ciclos de la naturaleza
Perception of Pastoralists on Dairy Production Technologies in Oyo State, Nigeria
This paper assessed the perception of pastoralists on the introduced Dairy Production Technologies (DPTs) in Oyo State, Nigeria. It specifically identified DPTs introduced to the pastoralists and examined their perceptions towards the DPTs. Multi-stage sampling procedure was used to select 216 respondents from 27 pastoral communities across two Dairy Development Programme (DDP) operating locations in the study area. Interview schedule was used for quantitative data collection while in-depth interview and Focus Group Discussion Guides were used to elicit qualitative information. Data were analysed through Software Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 20 and summarized using means, percentages, frequency counts and standard deviations while Pearson correlation analysis was used to draw inferences on hypothesis. The results showed almost all the respondents indicated they were aware of all the DPTs introduced to them except animal health record. Pastoralists’ perception varied with respect to each of the technological components, however, majority of the respondents (77.3 %) showed indifferent perception to DPTs. Also, positive and significant relationship existed between pastoralists’ household size (r = 0.768), age (r = 0.264), dairy years of experience (r = 0.248) and their perception of the DPTs. It is recommended that the concerns of pastoralists on ‘uncertainties/risk’ and ‘cost’ should be addressed if dairy development efforts are to be meaningful among the pastoralists in Nigeria
Desplazamientos, silencios y materialidad. La comunidad de Basilio Curruhuinca, en el sudoeste de chubut, patagonia argentina.
From a microhistorical point of view, the archaeological, historical and anthropological approach put into practice seeks to recall the settlement of the Cacique Basilio Curruhuinca community and their daily experiences, after the forced transfer to Chubut as a consequence of the military campaigns at the end of the XIX century. This community, detached from that of Bartolomé Curruhuinca in the Lacar Lake area, managed to settle, having homes, crops and livestock, however the fate of these families was the gradual movement towards marginal areas. A little over 100 years after its establishment in the southwest of Chubut, the weak memory of its presence is contrasted with the material remains of its settlement, along with fragments of local memory. The archaeological research presented here attempts to recover the way of life and everyday life of the now almost unknown and forgotten Mapuche inhabitants of Alto Río Mayo, a few kilometers from Aldea Beleiro.Desde una mirada microhistórica, el enfoque arqueológico, histórico y antropológico puesto en práctica, busca traer a la memoria el asentamiento de la comunidad del Cacique Basilio Curruhuinca y sus vivencias cotidianas, luego del traslado forzado hacia Chubut como consecuencia de las campañas militares de finales del siglo XIX. Esta comunidad, desprendimiento de la de Bartolomé Curruhuinca de la zona del lago Lacar, logró asentarse logrando tener viviendas, siembras y ganados, sin embargo el destino de estas familias fue el corrimiento paulatino hacia áreas marginales. A poco más de 100 años de su establecimiento en el sudoeste de Chubut, el recuerdo endeble de su presencia se contrapone a los vestigios materiales que quedaron de su asentamiento, junto a fragmentos de la memoria local. La investigación arqueológica aquí presentada intenta recuperar la forma de vida y la cotidianeidad de los hoy casi desconocidos y olvidados habitantes mapuches de Alto Río Mayo, a escasos kilómetros de Aldea Beleiro

Effects of different inclusion levels of shrimp meal with fish meal in Oreochromis niloticus diet.
A feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the effect of inclusion of different levels of shrimp meal with fish meal on growth, feed utilization, water quality and cost implication of the diet O. niloticus fingerlings. A total of two hundred and four (204) fish with an initial weight of 2.93+ 0.55g were stocked in twelve (12) tanks of dimension 1.8 x 1.3 x 0.36m3 for 12 weeks. Four diets (D1, D2, D3 and D4) contained 100% SM, 70% SM and 30% FM, 50% SM and 50% FM, 30% SM and 70% FM respectively, were fed twice daily to satiation. Final weight gain was 4.65±1.72g, 3.89±0.96g, 3.58±0.65g, 3.73±0.80g for the treatments respectively. The highest mean weight gain (4.98±0.31g) and specific (4.57±0.69%) growth rates were in fish fed with 100% SM (D1) and lowest (3.59±0.15g, 17.7±0.17% respectively) in fish fed 50% SM and 50% FM (D3). Protein efficiency ratio was highest in D1 and lowest in D4. Feed conversion ratio was lowest in diet D1 and highest in D4. Survival rate was good in all the treatments having the highest in D2 and lowest in D1. Diet 1 had the best growth followed by D2, D4 and D3 respectively. Cost implication and water quality parameters showed no significant differences (p>0.05) among the diets. Results showed that SM could replace FM by 100% without having any negative effect on the growth and tend to be uneconomically efficient at such inclusion level.
Spatio-temporal analysis of land use/land cover change through overlay technique in Kinnaur district of Himachal pradesh, Western Himalaya
In the modern era of globalisation demand of natural resources is very high for the well-being of human; high demand results in the degradation of natural resources, uneven pattern of development and changes in naturally available resources. Changes in land use land cover (LULC) is a dynamic process, which varies with time and space. It is the main component in the planning and management of natural resources, and analysing the changes in the environment. There are many remote sensing and GIS-based model used by the researcher in the world to identify the land use pattern. Here, Digital change detection model is used to determine the changes in Land use and Land cover with geo-referenced multi-temporal remote sensing data. This present study is an attempt to identify the spatial-temporal variation of LULC in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh, based on the secondary data. Landsat imageries are collected from the United States Geological Survey (USGS) for a different period like Landsat TM, Landsat ETM +, and Landsat OLI. Kinnaur district has witnessed many hydro-electric power projects, dam, tunnel and road construction, which has changed the pattern of land use in a few decades. It is indispensable to have a sustainable development mechanism for the fragile ecosystem. It includes the initiative of local government and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), government agencies and global partners to improve the degraded land condition.Keywords: Natural Resources, Land Use/ Land Cover, Kinnaur, Hydro-electric Power Projects
Hidden potential of fruit waste and its utilization
The global increasing population demands for more food production and food processing which consequently results in more food waste generation. The total waste produced in different stages of processing of food generally comprises of peels, pomace, seed, pulp, unused flesh and damaged food which is biodegradable in nature. These by-products are a good source of bioactive compounds like polyphenols, antioxidants and phytochemicals. They are the storehouse of complex carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and nutraceuticals depending on the nature of product produced for example poultry and meat industries are rich the source of proteins and lipids, fruits and vegetable processing industries are rich in bioactive compounds and cereal industries are good source of phenolic compounds and dietary fiber. The food waste or by-products are important source of colorants, fiber, flavoring and antimicrobials which are used in food industry as a source of food additives. The phenolic compounds present in by products of different foods exhibit anti-oxidant, anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, immune-modulatory activity and play a major role in reducing the risk of cardiovascular problems, osteoporosis, thrombosis, platelets aggregation and diabetes in humans. By products from different industries can be used to develop value added products in India where poverty and malnutrition are the major issues. Developing effective policies for the utilization of food waste along the value chain can help reduce food waste problem and contribute towards food security and sustainability.Keywords: By products, Bioactive compounds, Food industry, Food waste
Effect of tourist safari in activity and behaviour of chital (Axis axis) and sambar deer (Cervus unicolor) in Jim Corbett Nationa Park, Ramnagar , Uttarakhand.
Tourism in a National Park is a best gift for nature lovers as they see the great and diverse vegetation, dense forest, river side area, seasonal rivers, natural sot, small hills areas, large chour (grassland) and most adventurous is to see the wild animals in their natural habitat, their different activities and behaviour.This motivates tourist for wild animals conservation. Jim Corbett National Parkis the oldest National Park famous for its diverse flora and presence of wild mammals, big carnivores, and herbivores like spotted deer (Axis axis) and Sambar deer (Cervus unicolor).Tourism gives a big revenue every year to the Government of Uttrakhand unlike gypsy safari that affects the Park animals for eight hours by 480 people every day by vehicle sound, tourist noises, camera and mobiles sound in capturing photos and making videos. It affects the alertness of deers, sometimes they want food items from tourists or show fear from tourists. So it may cause many changes in their behaviour and it becomes a serious problem for their population
Effect of Time and Temperature on the Proximate and Sensory Parameter of Roasted Beef (Suya)
In this study, different time and temperature effect were examined on the proximate and sensory parameter of roasted beef (suya). The proximate composition, and sensory evaluation (appearance, tenderness, juiciness, flavour and overall acceptability) of the meat roasted using different time and temperature were assessed. Two kilograms of beef-round from a freshly slaughtered cow was used for the study. The meat was trimmed, cut into small pieces weighing 250g was cured manually with experimental ingredients before roasting with Century Electric Oven at different time that is 40, 50, 60 and 70 minutes at temperature of 250, 230, 210 and 1900C respectively, with groundnut oil sprinkled intermittently.Key Words: Time, Temperature, Effect, Proximate, Sensory, Parameter, Roasted Beef (suya
Investigation of water quality from Damanga estuary through the water quality indexing Gujarat
The seasonal investigation about the water quality from Damanganga river estuary on two habitats downstream and upstream was carried out from January to December 2019 containing three major seasons: winter, summer and monsoon. For this monitoring activity total 29 parameters (24 physico-chemical parameters and 5 heavy metals) were analyzed. Multivariate analyses suggested inter dependency among these studied parameters. Water Quality Index is computed based on the major fluctuated and affected parameters. The calculated values of WQI for all three seasons ranged from 122.84 to 173.82 which suggested poor water quality of the water body. WQI values of the investigation area proposed that the estuarine water quality is deteriorated due to high value of presented heavy metals (Aluminum, Iron, Manganese, Boron and Zinc), Chloride, Ammonium and Sulfate in water sample. In this case, the downstream station is having accessional pollutant contaminations while the upstream station is having diminutive pollutant contaminants. Temporally, the dominant frailty found during the winter followed by summer and monsoon. This study field exhibited poor quality of water; the reason behind this might be the impressive surrounding industrial zone as well as other anthropogenic activities. There is quite normal probability distribution expressed by the represented water quality data at the both habitats. The Bray-Curtis cluster analysis shows different percentage similarity level between the water quality parameters.
