The Influence of Health Education Using Leaflets and Flashbacks on Patient Knowledge about Gastritis
Introduction: Gastritis, or what we commonly know as stomach ulcers, is the beginning of a disease that can disrupt a person's quality of life. According to WHO data, the incidence of gastritis in Indonesia is 40.8%. This is due to a lack of public awareness about gastritis.
Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of health education using leaflets and flipcharts on patient knowledge about gastritis.
Method: The study used a quasi-experimental design with a two-group pretest and posttest. The sample size was 82 patients. Quota sampling was used as the sampling technique. The instruments used were leaflets, flipcharts, and questionnaires. Data were analyzed using a paired sample t-test and an independent t-test with a 95% confidence level (α 0.05).
Result: The results of the study indicate that health education using leaflets and flipcharts has an effect on patient knowledge about gastritis. The results of each study using leaflets and flipcharts obtained a p-value of (0.000) < ɑ (0.05). This data was also analyzed using a T-test of different variants, which showed a difference in the average level of patient knowledge after receiving health education about gastritis using leaflets and flipcharts. Judging from the average score of patient knowledge using leaflets and flipcharts, health education using flipcharts proved more effective in increasing patient knowledge about gastritis. The recommendation from this study is the need to increase awareness and commitment to providing information about gastritis, preferably using flipcharts and leaflets.
Conclusion: The suggestion from this research is the need to increase awareness and commitment to be willing to provide information about gastritis, preferably using flipchart media and also through leaflets
The Effect of Benson Relaxation Technique on Fatigue among Chronic Disease Patients: A Systematic Literature Review
Introduction: Fatigue often afflicts patients with chronic illnesses, adversely affecting their quality of life and limiting their ability to execute daily activities. The Benson relaxation technique, a non-pharmacological method, seeks to reduce weariness by stimulating the body's inherent relaxation response. Evidence suggests that this therapy is a viable, safe, and effective method for mitigating fatigue in those with chronic illnesses
Objective: This study aims to assess the efficacy of the Benson relaxation technique in mitigating fatigue among individuals with chronic illnesses.
Method: A systematic review was conducted across four databases (PubMed, ProQuest, JSTOR, and Garuda) to identify studies published between 2020 and 2024 examining the application of the Benson relaxation technique among adults aged 18 to 65 with chronic illnesses. Fatigue reduction served as the primary outcome, assessed using validated instruments such as the FSS, MFIS, RPFS, FACIT Fatigue, and CFS. Three independent reviewers performed the search, screening, and quality appraisal following PRISMA guidelines and the CASP Checklist.
Result: An analysis of 14 clinical trials with 813 participants demonstrated that the Benson relaxation technique significantly alleviates fatigue in persons suffering from chronic conditions, including coronary heart disease, cancer, multiple sclerosis, and renal failure. The intervention boosts sleep quality, reduces anxiety, and improves general well-being. Enhanced efficacy was noted with extended durations (1–12 weeks) and when conducted bi-daily for 10–60 minutes, particularly when integrated with aromatherapy, music therapy, or deep breathing techniques.
Conclusion: The Benson relaxation technique has demonstrated efficacy in alleviating fatigue in persons with chronic illnesses. Consequently, nurses can include this method into non-pharmacological tiredness management strategies to enhance patients' overall quality of life

Shame and Burden: Family Stigma in Caring for Shackled Individuals with Mental Disorders
Introduction: Mental disorders remain a significant public health concern, often leading to stigma and social discrimination, particularly for families caring for affected individuals. In some cases, shackling (physical restraint) is still practiced due to limited access to mental health services, further intensifying the burden on caregivers.
Objective: This study aims to explore the family experiences of stigma and emotional burden in providing care for shackled individuals with mental disorders.
Method: A qualitative research design with a phenomenological approach was employed. The study was conducted within the scope of the Pamekasan District Health Office, involving families of mentally ill patients as participants. Inclusion criteria included participants who had cared for restrained family members for over a year, were above 20 years old, willing to participate, and able to communicate verbally. A snowball sampling technique was used, where key informants assisted in identifying additional participants.
Results: Participants reported experiencing stigma related to their role in caring for family members with mental disorders who had been restrained. The findings highlight psychological and emotional reactions, as well as how participants navigate daily life amid societal stigma. A key subtheme, "Emotions," describes their emotional responses, which include sadness, anger, shame, and guilt—common experiences among participants.
Conclusion: This study concludes that family caregivers of individuals with mental illness face significant psychological distress due to stigma, primarily manifesting as sadness, anger, shame, and guilt. These emotional responses stem from discrimination, stereotyping, and societal labeling. Effective emotional management is crucial in helping caregivers cope and respond constructively to stigma. The findings emphasize the need for supportive interventions to enhance caregivers' emotional resilience and overall well-being
