Children are the nation’s next generation and play a vital role in sustainable development and the country’s future. The protection of children, including within the context of criminal law, is a fundamental aspect of building a holistic Indonesian human resource foundation based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution. This study analyzes the effectiveness of implementing diversion in resolving juvenile cases involving assault and collective violence in Bandung, West Java. The research aims to examine the implementation of the diversion concept within the juvenile criminal justice system, assess the effectiveness of rehabilitative approaches, evaluate legal protection mechanisms, identify the underlying factors behind juvenile delinquency, and formulate policy recommendations for improving child protection. A qualitative research approach was employed, with data collected through interviews at the Bandung Child Rights Advocacy Institute (Lembaga Advokasi Hak Anak/LAHA). Diversion plays a crucial role in Indonesia’s juvenile criminal justice system. The findings indicate that while diversion has been implemented, it continues to face various challenges, particularly concerning infrastructure and the interpretation of the Juvenile Criminal Justice System Law. Several obstacles hinder its success, including limited participation from victims and communities, as well as persistent negative stigma toward juvenile offenders. Therefore, further measures are needed to raise public awareness of the importance of diversion and to strengthen inter-institutional collaboration. The study suggests that enhancing the effectiveness of diversion requires a comprehensive approach involving multiple stakeholders

Analisis Citra Perempuan dalam Iklan “Lux – Isyana Sarasvati” dan “Pantene – Labels Against Women” dalam Perspektif Feminisme Sosialis

    Get PDF
This article analyses the representation of women in two popular advertisements, "Lux – Isyana Sarasvati" and "Pantene – Labels Against Women", through the lens of socialist feminist theory. The study focuses on the portrayal of women's roles, identities, and societal expectations within these advertisements, as well as the messages conveyed regarding gender construction. The application of socialist feminist theory aims to examine the role of advertising in either reinforcing or challenging traditional stereotypes about women through its connection to social, economic, and power structures. The "Lux – Isyana Sarasvati" advertisement emphasizes the image of a beautiful and graceful woman as a symbol of social status, whereas "Pantene – Labels Against Women" raises awareness of gender-based discrimination by critiquing the social labels attached to women. The analysis reveals that although both advertisements attempt to promote a positive image of women, they remain entangled within capitalist narratives that commodify women's bodies and identities. This article also underscores the need for a more critical and progressive approach to the portrayal of women in advertising media, one that better reflects women’s social roles in an equitable and empowering manner

A Critical Review of the ASEAN Convention on the Protection of Women Migrant Workers: Gaps, Challenges, and Recommendations

    Get PDF
This paper offers a critical examination of the ASEAN Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Migrant Workers, with particular focus on the rights of women migrant workers. Employing constructivist international relations theory alongside feminist legal analysis, it identifies substantial shortcomings in implementation, normative ambiguity, and the limited enforceability of protections. Drawing on empirical data from 2020 to 2024, and informed by reports from international human rights and labor organizations, the paper provides a comprehensive assessment of ASEAN’s inadequacies in safeguarding women migrant workers. Women migrant workers continue to be disproportionately represented in domestic work and the informal economy, where they are subject to systemic discrimination, exploitation, and legal invisibility. Despite rhetorical commitments to gender equality and migrant rights, ASEAN’s legal frameworks and mechanisms frequently omit gender-specific provisions and lack the capacity to address intersectional vulnerabilities. The region’s reliance on soft law approaches and the absence of binding commitments undermine its ability to ensure effective protection. The paper concludes with strategic recommendations for ASEAN member states, including the adoption of legally binding commitments, the formulation of gender-sensitive regional instruments, the strengthening of accountability mechanisms, and more meaningful engagement with civil society organizations. Only through structural reform can ASEAN genuinely uphold the rights and dignity of women migrant workers

This study aims to analyze the role of digital literacy among Generation Z based on local wisdom values, in countering cyber terrorism propaganda content. As an active internet-using demographic, Gen Z is particularly vulnerable to exposure to radical content due to a lack of information filtering skills. Using a qualitative approach, the study reveals that local cultural values embedded in the “Jabar Masagi” program—such as Niti Surti, Niti Harti, Niti Bukti, and Niti Bakti—has a potential modality to enhance Gen Z especially high junior students’ ability to evaluate and filter information, ultimately preventing the spread of cyber terrorism propaganda. These findings highlight the importance of integrating local wisdom values into digital literacy programs as a preventative measure against online radicalization, as well as the need for collaboration among various actors (government, educational institutions, and communities) in developing holistic digital literacy strategies

Waste remains an unresolved issue to this day. The high volume of waste generated annually stems from human activities, leading to accumulation in final disposal sites (landfills) due to the limited capacity of these sites. This study aims to explore how sustainable waste management is carried out by communities to reduce the accumulation of waste in landfills. Using a qualitative approach, this study highlights community participation in sustainable waste management efforts, which begin with segregating types of waste and implementing the 4R principles: reduce, recycle, reuse, and recovery. Benchmarking has been conducted against several countries that implement food waste management strategies using various approaches to reduce waste accumulation
