The research employs a descriptive–qualitative approach, with data collected through interviews and participatory observation. Full text link
The phenomenon of depression and the search for happiness has become an increasingly relevant issue in the context of modern life full of social pressures and high expectations. In the midst of the hustle and bustle of modern times, individuals often feel dissatisfied with their lives, even though materialistically much has been achieved. The writing of this article aims to know the reinterpretation of the meaning of happiness from the perspective of Jalal al-Din al-Rumi and Buya Hamka and its correlation with the phenomenon of depression in the modern era and to find out the similarities and differences between the meaning of happiness from the perspective of Jalal al-Din al-Rumi and Buya Hamka. This research is a library research with descriptive and comparative analysis to compare the views of the two figures. Research results show that happiness in the modern era is often associated with materialism and hedonism, which leads to an understanding of happiness as worldly achievements and physical satisfaction, which creates errors in understanding happiness. The phenomenon of depression experienced by modern society is often triggered by dissatisfaction with materials and difficulties in dealing with the pressures of life. The reinterpretation of happiness according to Rumi and Hamka emphasizes that true happiness does not lie in material things alone, but in spiritual pleasures that transcend physical limits. Both agree that ultimate happiness is related to closeness to God and self-control of worldly dependence, but Rumi emphasises the spiritual aspect through love of God and avoiding selfishness, while Hamka emphasises the importance of using reason and wisdom in interpreting the world and material

THEMATIC HADITH STUDY ON NISHAB DETERMINATION FOR CURRENCY ZAKAT: Textual Analysis and Contemporary Application

Contemporary challenges in determining zakat nishab for fiat currencies necessitate rigorous return to foundational scriptural sources through systematic thematic hadith analysis. This research employs classical hadith criticism methodology takhrij al-hadith, naqd al-sanad, naqd al-matan, and syarah hadith to examine authenticated prophetic traditions regarding gold and silver thresholds from primary compilations (Kutub al-Sittah). Comprehensive sanad evaluation reveals all narrators meet tsiqah criteria with unbroken transmission chains, while matan analysis confirms consistency with Qur’anic principles and absence of shadhdh or ‘illah. Thematic synthesis across four authenticated traditions demonstrates silver's (200 dirhams) explicit textual primacy as nishab standard, though gold (20 dinars) maintains legitimate alternative status. Jurisprudential implications extend beyond quantitative parameters to underlying hikmah: nishab functions as capacity filter protecting vulnerable populations while actualizing redistributive justice. The integrative qiyas framework (al-badl lahu hukm al-mubdal) legitimizes contemporary currency zakat by functional equivalence rather than material identity. This study’s primary contribution lies in demonstrating how rigorous hadith methodology generates contextually-responsive yet scripturally-grounded solutions for modern fiqh challenges. Empirical observation at UIN Madura validates theoretical findings’ practical relevance while revealing implementation gaps requiring comprehensive governance reforms. However, the core scholarly value resides in establishing methodologically-sound hadith analysis as essential foundation for contemporary zakat jurisprudence

This study is situated within the discourse of educational communication and character development, focusing on children’s language ethics in social and digital contexts. The rapid advancement of technology has transformed communication patterns among children, where the use of harsh expressions such as “jancok,” “endasmu,” “anjay,” and “anjir” has become increasingly common due to environmental influences and uncontrolled gadget exposure. This community engagement article aims to provide ethical language education for children in Warulor Village, Paciran District, Lamongan Regency, and to analyze the impact of this program on their verbal behavior. The study employed an educative-participatory approach, actively involving children through language games, conversational simulations, and reflective activities. Data were collected through observation, short interviews with teachers and parents, and simple pre- and post-tests assessing language ethics comprehension. The results revealed significant improvement in both knowledge and behavior—harsh language use decreased by up to 70%, and children began to internalize polite communication habits in social contexts. These findings highlight that participatory, community-based language ethics education can serve as an effective preventive strategy against negative verbal behavior in children. The study contributes to the field of communication and education by reinforcing the concept of character-based communication that integrates linguistic, social, and moral dimensions. Practically, it emphasizes the importance of collaboration among schools, families, and communities in fostering a polite and ethical language culture in the digital era

This study is critical because it looks at digital literacy in Indonesian education, especially post the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic which forced schools to use more technology. It also examines motivation, social attitudes, and self-confidence, which are all important parts of digital literacy. The main goal is to find out how digital literacy skills and the motivation to learn affect the attitudes and self-confidence of future teachers in Indonesia after the pandemic. To do this, the study surveyed prospective elementary school teachers across Indonesia, with 331 participants from various islands like Java, Kalimantan, Maluku, Nusa Tenggara and Bali, Papua, and Sumatra. An online questionnaire was used to collect data, and the analysis included descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and linear regression. The results showed that digital literacy has a 43% impact on social attitudes and a 33% impact on self-confidence. Motivation affects social attitudes by 57% and self-confidence by 42%. This suggests that being good at digital literacy doesn't automatically mean someone will have positive social attitudes online. Therefore, the study highlights the importance of having skills in independent learning, creativity, and using technology effectively to develop positive attitudes in digital spaces.

The history of Qur'anic exegesis in Indonesia has developed dynamically alongside the process of Islamization in the Nusantara, which faced linguistic and cultural challenges. The Arabic Qur'an was translated and interpreted for communities with diverse local languages, necessitating the integration of Islamic values with local wisdom. This study aims to delineate the periodization of the development of Qur'anic exegesis in Indonesia, covering the classical to premodern periods, and to explore the contributions of Islamic scholars in contextualizing Islamic teachings to meet societal needs. Employing a qualitative descriptive method and a library research approach, this study analyzes ancient manuscripts, works of Nusantara scholars, and modern literature. The findings indicate that the development of Qur'anic exegesis in Indonesia can be divided into four main periods, each with distinct characteristics, ranging from the dominant influence of the Middle East in the classical period to the emergence of inclusive exegesis rooted in Nusantara culture during the premodern period. The innovations of Nusantara scholars in blending Islamic teachings with local traditions, such as using local languages in exegesis, are highlighted as key efforts to broaden public understanding. The novelty of this research lies in its in-depth analysis of the adaptation of exegesis to the socio-cultural context of the Nusantara, demonstrating that Qur'anic exegesis serves not only as a means of understanding religion but also as a dynamic guide relevant to the changing times. This study makes a significant contribution to the field of Qur'anic exegesis and Islamic studies in Indonesia, emphasizing the importance of contextual approaches in understanding sacred texts.
