A Pharmacognostic review of Liquorice: Pharmacological actions, Current uses and Future prospects
Herbs used as medicines are one of the widely adopted treatment alternatives which is in effect since ancient times. Herbal drugs are of great importance to the population because of its ease of availability and the relief of having no side effects. Majority of the herbal drugs are possessed to have more than one pharmacological effect. One such classic example of well-known herbal drug is Liquorice which is commonly known as Sweet Wood or Mulethi. Liquorice is available in dried root or rhizome form and it is widely used as natural sweetener, expectorant and as a hepato-protectant. The herb is widely grown in Baluchistan, Spain and in certain parts of Himalayan region of India. There are various active chemical compounds of Liquorice which include saponins and flavonoids. The pharmacological actions of this drug are attributed to its major active chemical compound named Glycyrrhizin. Liquorice is also found to have specific anti-viral activity against certain viral cells. The current article focusses on the pharmacognostic review of Liquorice and its uses. The multiple pharmacological effects of this drug and the future prospects of using Liquorice in developing formulations have been discussed in detail
Anti-inflammatory drugs with therapeutic effects and drug regulators
For prostaglandin production, the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX) is required. The two COX isoforms are constitutive COX-1 (which is responsible for physiological functions) and inducible COX-2 (involved in inflammation). COX inhibition explains both the medicinal (inhibition of COX-2) and negative effects (inhibition of COX-1) effects of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines (NSAIDs). Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medicines (NSAIDs) act by blocking the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX), which produces prostaglandins (PGs). To a greater or lesser extent, they share similar side effects, such as stomach and renal toxicity. According to a recent study, there are at least two COX isoenzymes. COX-1 is a naturally occurring enzyme that creates prostaglandins (PGs), which protect the stomach and kidneys. Aspirin's well-known anti-cancer impact could also be related to its influence on COX-2, which is expressed in this condition. As a result, selective COX-2 inhibitors may have new therapeutic potential as anticancer drugs, as well as in preventing premature labor and maybe reducing the progression of Alzheimer's disease

Challenges and Recent Progress of Nano Sized Drug Delivery Systems for Lung Cancer Therapy: A Review
Lung cancer is the most malignant cancer today. The treatment of lung cancer continues to be a challenge for oncologists. The direct delivery of chemotherapeutic agents to the lungs could represent a novel therapeutic approach for patients with pulmonary metastases. Currently, many formulations of nanocarriers are utilized including lipid-based, polymeric and branched polymeric, metal-based, magnetic, and mesoporous silica. Innovative strategies have been employed to exploit the multicomponent, three-dimensional constructs imparting multifunctional capabilities. In lung cancer, nanoparticle-based therapeutics is paving the way in the diagnosis, imaging, screening, and treatment of primary and metastatic tumors. This review summarizes current progress and challenges in nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems, citing recent examples targeted at lung cancer treatment
