Teaching Reading Comprehension by Using Computer technologies
This study was conducted to know whether there is a difference in students’ achievement in reading comprehension through the use of computer-based reading method at the first grade students .The design used is a quasi-experimental with purposive sampling technique. Students were chosen as the experimental group and was taught by using computer-based reading in three meetings, while it was chosen as the control group and was taught without using computer-based reading in three meetings. Three instruments were used to gather the data, they are documentation, observation, and tests. Different achievement between the experimental group and the control group. Therefore, it can be concluded that the proper use of computer-based reading can upgrade students’ reading comprehension ability. It is suggested to teachers to consider the use computer-based reading as the method of teaching and reading comprehension
Impact of Mahatma Gandhi on the Life of Dr. Martin Luther King Junior
Mahatma Gandhi was one of the greatest freedom fighters of India who with his philosophy of nonviolent satyagraha and ahimsa shaped the freedom struggle of India. Prior to his odyssey in India he also lived in South Africa and witnessed racial discrimination against non-whites and Indian population. He stood up against injustice and racial oppression there and started non violent movement there and as an act of defiance against apartheid rule he formed the Natal Indian Congress in 1894 A.D.. He continued his struggle in South Africa from 1893 to 1914 and became the mass leader of South African Indian community. He returned to India in 1915 A.D. and joined the freedom struggle and within few years he became the face of the mass movement. Under his leadership not only educated and elite people joined the struggle for Indian independence but also the marginalized section of society like peasants, workers, and women played an active role. He was not only a freedom fighter but also a great social reformer. He raised his voice against the evils of casteism, untouchability, gender discrimination and advocated measures for their uplifting. His struggle inspired many of his contemporaries around the world and his method of non-violence was seen as the most effective weapon to combat draconian laws all around the world. One of the people whom Gandhi influenced considerably was Martin Luther King Junior and he referred to Gandhi as “the little brown saint.” In this paper we will assess the struggles of Martin Luther and how Gandhi’s ideas helped him in combating the evils of racial discrimination and social injustice meted out to the people of color in America

Concept-Based Instruction as an Innovation to Improve Grade 5 Learner’s Metaphoric Competence
This study uses Concept-Based Instruction in teaching metaphors to the ESL learners. Concept-based curriculum and instruction is a critical link in making learning more relevant and interesting for students. This study aims to shed light to the teaching and learning of metaphors using Concept-Based Instruction in the context of English as a Second Language learners. It aims to explore how the concept‐based approach influences their development of metaphorical competence. The major concern of this study is to determine the effectiveness of Concept-based instruction approach in improving Grade 5 ESL learners' metaphorical competence in assessing the improvement of the subjects. The study assessed the Concept-Based Instruction as an Innovation to improve Grade 5 learner’s metaphoric competence in the selected private school students in the Schools Division of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. The Respondents of the study were purposively selected which compromised of Twenty-eight (28) from the private school students in the Schools Division of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. The goal of CBI is to stimulate development through the effective presentation of high-quality conceptual knowledge linked to practical activity, in which students not only internalize the conceptual knowledge but also learn how to apply it to their own goals in any of the school subjects taught, including language. The study revealed there is a significant difference in the pretest and posttest score of the students in the utilization of the Innovation in improving the learners’ metaphoric competence
Office of the Registrar in Nigerian Public Universities: Problems and Suggestions
The article discussed the problems facing the office of the Registrar in Nigerian public universities. Secondary data was used to support the points raised in the article. This article obtains the secondary data from print material and online publication by recognized institutions and individual author. Some problems facing the office of Registrar of Nigerian public universities include; inadequate funding of the office of Registrar, inadequate staff/over-staffed, inadequate infrastructural facilities, inadequate working materials, poor capacity development of staff in the Registrar’s office. To solve these challenges, this article recommends: that the school administrators should increase the funding of the office of Registrar, provide adequate infrastructural facilities, employment of more staff/deployment of staff out, provision of adequate working materials and effective staff development programme for staff in office of the Registrar
Administration of Political Science Programme in Nigerian Public Universities: Problems and Solutions
Political science programme is one of the social science programme that public universities in Nigeria are offering. The programme is aimed to develop manpower that will fill the political super structure of the society and contribute to the social economic and political development of the country. It is unfortunate that political science as a programme offering in public universities in Nigeria is faced with many problems. This article discusses the problems facing the administration of political science programme in the Nigerian public universities. The article employed secondary data to review the points raised in the discussion. The secondary data were sourced from online and print materials. The following were identified: inadequate funding, inadequate infrastructural facilities, shortage of academic staff, ineffective staff development programme, brain-drain and poor research as the problems facing the administration of political science in the Nigerian public universities. To address these problems, the following were suggested that more funds should be allocated for the administration of political sciences, adequate infrastructural facilities should be provided, and employment of more academic staff, political science lecturers should be motivated to reduce brain-drain and effective staff development for lecturers in the department of political science
